Good Points: None.
Bad Points: Advert not successful as predicted.
General comments: As a Company advertiser I never saw my advert go live with The Number 118 118 and I had already paid over £180.00! Their rep predicted to me between 15 and 30 calls per month and in 3 months I got none. So i phoned 118 they said they would look into this and ring me back, since I did not hear back from them I cancelled my direct debit in February or March, 118 sent me a letter asking for payment in full and I again rang them and again they said they would look into it and ring me back within 24 hours, I heard no more until around May and received another letter asking for payment so I rang again and they said they would look into it. It's now July & there taking me to court for payment for 1 years advertising!

If you are, like me a business owner, leave this company well alone! The list my company incorrectly and then chased me for money, overall providing an incredibly poor service.

The Number 118 118 was very quick to offer to connect me but when it came to telling me it will cost you a further 25p a minute for the duration of the ongoing call, was very quiet. Why bother asking the customer who hasn't written the number down because your going to connect them to then be told they're going to be charged for the privelige? The Result: you have to ring them AGAIN to ask for the number AGAIN cost to you 69p for the number plus 19p for the first minute TWICE. Conclusion? Stear ...

I called 118 118 directory enquiries for an estate agents number yesterday. The number was given and all OK, but today I received 2 x junk texts / push messages which I suspect to be as a result of '118118' possibly selling mobile number to third party! (as I have never received similar texts in the past) ... slightly annoying. Surely they are making enough money already?

I used to have problems with the 118 118 directory enquiries service soon after 192 went away. I now have an excellent accurate service form them, and I think it is better than the old services. It is a few pence more, but it works better, so I am quite happy.

What happened to 192 Directory Enquiries Services anyway? I must have used them on hundreds of occasions and never got a wrong number. Top tip 118 118, ask them.

I phoned the 118118 Directory Enquiries Service twice yesterday for the same residential number. On both occasions I had to spell the name to them (ainscough) I then gave them the correct adress. Both times they said
no number at that adress .THIS IS FRUSTRATING WHEN YOU KNOW THERE IS A PHONE NUMBER AT THAT ADRESS. I got home and got the number myself online. I am self employed and it was an important phone call I had to make. Who employs this incompatant workforce? I will NEVER use this servi ...

On Friday the 1st of October I had been driving my employer's vehicle all day and several times heard your advert about the woman requesting train times from the 118118 Directory Enquiries Service. When I got to my own car to drive home at 6pm I was horrified to discover I'd lost my car and flat keys. I called 118118 and asked you to find me a locksmith. Within 2 minutes I was talking to an agency who advised me of the cost and arranged a time for a locksmith to come to my home. He arrived spot ...

As a CSR with 118118, I must feel that this information is biased. We do our best, and I wish that customers would try to have relevant details ready; most do, but those few who don't tend to be the most aggressive customers. Mobile customers do have it bad though, as while 118118 only charge them 9p per minute (plus the 49p connection cost), their mobile companies add extra costs to bring that to 65p to 80p min. Thats expensive. And you do get charged for 0800 numbers; but why ask to be connect ...

I called 118118 from my mobile 3 times over a bank holiday weekend for various numbers. I was only able to give scant details of the company I was trying to contact but the staff were very helpful indeed. I was also pleasantly surprised to receive confirmation of the requested telephone number by text as well. Can't fault the service I received!

I have used 118 118 on numerous occasions. The service operators consistently and purposely 'drag out' the call time by asking silly questions and asking you to repeat information. Obviously because they charge per minute!!! Won't be using them again.

I have used 118 118 a few times, only for the fact that the TV advertising 118 118 jangle had stuck in my head.
I found them a complete waste of time and money, giving wrong numbers and asking me to spell out most of what I asked over and over again.
118500 for me!

Called 118118 for a number but I wasn't sure of its exact location. I was turning up for a job interview and thought I would find it. It was in a small town in West Wales. The 118 118 person found the company I was after and also gave me driving directions to get there. Can't fault them! Other companies would have just given me the number and that's it, but it's nice to have someone who will go that bit further for you.

Not only was the operator useless on 118118, (I was given the number of a less than local firm,) but the supervisor was unhelpful when I complained. Apparently they just want to give out numbers not relevent ones...

Pity they didn't spend more money on the call centre and less on advertising. The service asks you to spell every word at least 4 times.
Not recommended.
