We picked up a car at Pisa Airport to start our honeymoon. An hour into the journey the clutch broke. We called for the breakdown service ourselves and then had to get a taxi to bring us back up to Florence Airport (30 mins) to pick up car no 2. No apologies given. On day 2 of our honeymoon we thought that car 2 sounded strange. Rang autoeuropa to ask them could we get the car checked as we felt there was something wrong with the suspension. We were told that the car is only new and that it was impossible that anything was wrong with it. We got the car checked ourselves and the suspension was indeed broken and was unsafe to drive. Another taxi up to Florence Airport (1.5hours) to get car no 3. 3 cars in two days!!!!! No apologies yet again.

We got an invoice this week charging us for fixing the clutch on car no 1, even though we were only driving it for an hour! No doubt there is another invoice in the post for the suspension.

Overall all they are a terrible company to deal with. They have no problem supplying you with unsafe cars and have no problem charging your credit card for whatever amount they see fit.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

The car seemed to be underpowered. After driving it for less than 6 hours over 1 1/2 days, we could barely make it up the hill to our B&B. It took them 2 days to get us a replacement. There was never any apology for our inconvenience. And then to add insult, when returning to the USA, there was a 589 Euro charge to our credit card; then yesterday a certified letter arrived from Palermo stating they were charging us for a new clutch. We rented the car thru Auto Europe in the USA who is now tr ...

Your own payment in case of accident is too high. Actually you have to pay for any damage up to 1000Euro. They may suggest to purchase extra-policy from some third-party inshurance company (it might be AEG, like in my case). But if something happens then your money are withdrawn from your credit, and all the documents AutoEurope sent you are in Italian. And inshurance company do not like to accept them. AutoEropa IT customer service just DOES NOT RESPOND neither on your E-mail, Faxes, nor on you ...

DO NOT HIRE WITH THIS COMPANY!!!
they gave us a car without lights and we rented it at night!! it was in very bad conditions, we had to change it twice(the second car stopped suddenly because they never checked and it was a cable of the motor not adjusted) and we lost a lot of time (about a day and a half in a holiday of one week), you have to do many kilometers to change the car and call many telephone numbers to be assisted, they even insult us and they didn't answer our mails (sended by our l ...

Strengths: easy to book, good prices (although Euro 1000 own risk on damage is not included)

Weaknesses: car (Fiat Brava, the only type they have) came with many defects: front light not working, not clean, parking meter missing, antenna missing, noise from braking system. As said in previous reviews, insist on inspection and paperwork filled in when returning the car. AutoEuropa very easily charge extra costs on your account afterwards. Extra insurance to mitigate own risk very expensive. ...

I have been using car rental Internet site www.carrentalabroad.com for years in Italy, Spain and Portugal They have Excellent Customer Service and the cars I have rented have been new. Never had any problems at all! The prices are the best you would find on the internet. Also the car rental prices are the same whether you book via internet or telephone.
    Well Done; www.carrentalabroad.com

The car hire company Maggoire are really bad and not professional at all, they charge extra for things e.g. extra KM, fuel (even if you return with full tank), Always ask them for a receipt when you return the car, and insist them to inspect the car, otherwise they may well charge extra.

This company has been the worst I have ever dealt with. Originally they were nice to deal with when we were hiring the car, had one available immediately whereas Avis next door told us it would be several hours. Decided to go with them as they gave a very good deal including full insurance for damage. Big mistake!Discovered on our last day when we went to the office in Trapani to drop off the car before flying home that it doesn't open Sundays, has no where to park the car and nowhere to leave t ...

My hire car broke down at my holiday home which is in a very secluded location. It took nearly 6 hours for someone to come and look at it. He just towed it away, leaving me stranded. The customer services said that all they would do is send me a taxi to the nearest hire centre, which was a 1.5 hour drive away. The taxi came after another 2 hours, but said that AutoEuropa would not pay the full fare, only the first 100 euros. As the meter was already at 100 euros because the taxi driver could not ...

We took the car in Venice from Auto Europa; the car was dented and scratched - but we didn't complain as it was noted in the contract (in Italian) and it was a functional car so we felt it's ok as they are a professional rent-a-car. We returned the car at Milan Malpensa airport but they were too busy to do a detailed inspection so they asked us to drop off the keys (they will inspect the car later). That's ok - we've done it with many other companies. Needles to say, the car was in the exactly ...
