I agree with the prior poster who said this is a horrible washer... I am a single person so I only wash 2 loads per week and my washer just turned 5 and is already leaking from teh triple seal. A very expensive thing to fix (estimate was $400). The repairman suggested I just buy a new washer and I said it definitely would not be a Maytag - never again. Piece of junk!!!

I wasn't surprised to see other similar reviews of the Maytag sav205daww washer. After 4 years ours too started leaking from the bottom. The tech' quoted us $350 to repair bearings and a seal. He said, "If it was really a Maytag it would be simple." He went on to say that Maytag bought out another company and are now putting their name on junk. Fool me once, shame on you . . . . I'll never buy Maytag again! My last washer (Whirlpool) lasted 15 years without incident.

This SAV205DAWW was my first and last Maytag. I only bought Maytag because it was told me to be dependable & the best. Not so. Warranty had expired. I was advised by a tech that washer was leaking water from the bottom of tub. It was the seal that needed to be replaced. I decided to buy another washer in lieu of having this one fixed.

I just tossed out my 4 year old Maytag washer model SAV205DAWW that I purchased at Home Depot. I originally bought it because of the name, Maytag, and the dependability it advertised. Not so.

I had one service call while it was still under warrantee. This was for the loud noise it made while agitating. It was repaired and worked fine for about a year. Then I noticed the increasingly loud noise it made during the spin cycle. Then It started leaking water at the bottom. By this time, ...

This Maytag was purchased to replace a VERY old unit which finally went bad, seals went bad inside and corroded everything. First technician came out, didn't even open it and stated it was fine, next tech came and opened it all you saw was rust throughout with broken parts, very disappointed because if we did not have extended warranty we would be up the creek now they are replacing this unit, but we are told the extended warranty from the 1st unit is void with the new replacement and the new ex ...

Seemed to be a good product for two years, even on heavy loads and numerous washes on someday! But Still COME ON MAYTAG ( now Whirlpool) Lets make em' like you used to do and last 25 plus years again huh!

This is presented as a " Commericial quality extra heavy duty" machine. The internal pulleys are plastic and the belt will not last long under normal usage. Mine is used by a single male
perhaps 3 loads a week and had required 2 belts in 2 years.
3 pairs of jeans destroyed the drive belt last time it broke.
My opinion is that it is a sub standard appliance being offered as a quality unit. Not a bargin at half the price.

I've had my Maytag SAV205DAWW machine between 1 and 2 years. It stopped washing, but would spin I called Matag and they said to call a serviceman. He cost me 65.00 to tell me it was the transmission and it was under warranty from matag (All my gears in transmission are plastic). He said he would order the part and fix it for 285.00 more, I only paid 399.00 for it new.

There have been repetitive problems of the same nature on this model for a myriad of customers. Being naive, I assumed the Maytag name meant quality. When I called the hotline and had to get past the narrative of Recalls before I was instructed to "press 2 for service"; I should have realized! Whirlpool has now taken over Maytag but I'm reluctant! I purchased this machine to replace a perfectly capable 17 year old GE so the dryer and washer would match! What a mistake. I am now wondering if ...

Like so many others who have owned this machine, it has soured me on the Maytag reputation. We've had three service calls already and the machine is dying again (it has a recurring deafening roar during the spin cycle). When it finally goes, we'll purchase another brand, but never again Maytag. Maytag should have stepped up and recognized that this product was poorly designed from the outset. Instead they seem to have gone of their way to not accept responsibility (viz. the necessity for the Nep ...

When the machine was just under 3 years old, it began to get out of balance frequently and became very noisy. Within a month of these symptoms, grease starting appearing on my clothes. A week later, unit started leaking. Called for repair and found out that the triple seal and bearings had failed. As a result the parts around the transmission had rusted and corroded. Total repair estimate: $410! Called for a second estimate: $390. So, now I have paid $59 in trip charge to 2 repair agenc ...

I suggest no one buy a Maytag or the dependability plus extended warranty!! Let me tell you why.......We bought a Maytag Washer, the SAV series, in November 2003. I was under the assumption that Maytag was the best company out there for appliances and was delighted to finally purchase one. Fourteen months later we found ourselves calling for service again and again for the same problem of water leaking out of the front and a screeching sound.
After conducting a significant amount of research ...
