“RUBBISH !!!!!!”

Written on: 09/04/2013

We had a ideal isar installed by a government grant ,warmfront installation . They threw them in !.What did I expect for a freebee . The boiler broke down two to three times a year . It was a good job I took out an insurance and I bet they were upset that they insured me, good old swinton .£7 a month . It covers boiler, drains, locks, windows, roof, check it out everyone no excess ect ect, but you have to service your boiler once a year, ideal boiler marks out of ten F,ALL , minus zero.! I agree, what a total pile of kak ! And British 'rip off' gas actually fit these things !
I had to change the aav on one recently,it's right in the back corner and you have to strip half the boiler down to get to it ! Such a bad design of boiler in every way, give me Vaillant quality any day.

“Shame on British Gas”

Written on: 20/01/2013

This boiler , the Ideal Isar, was recommended and installed by by British Gas. My husband and I were pensioners when we signed up for the credit agreement. If We had only been told that it would cost us over twice the £6000 installation charges we would never have signed on the dotted line. My husband died in December 2010 and we had already paid out £6000+ with another 5 years to go.After a further year of struggling the debt got out of my control and for several months I received... If you want to waste lots of your life waiting for British Gas Engineers (who I still believe to this day are culpable for this over priced rubbish installation), then go for this boiler. The only reason this boiler gets one star is there is no option for zero stars. Electrical failures, leaks, mechanical parts breaking down. There was nothing left to try and fix so it's now condemned. Thanks Ideal and thanks British Gas. You are both a waste of space and have cost us time, effort and... (read more)

Had this installed under the warmfront scheme in 2007. Nothing but trouble from the start. Each time it broke down warmfront took up to 2 weeks to repair, so I insured with british gas and I get an excellent service. I have called them out at least five times this year, lost count of the number of visits from subsequent years. If I could afford to replace it I would. (read more)

Had an Ideal Isar Boiler for 7 years now and have had at least 3/4 major problems eash year. The boiler has now had all parts replaced. Latest incident is the pump has melted following boiler overheating. Engineer has attempted to blame contractors who have recently fitted new bathroom and had to empty sytem. Ideal Boiler Maintenance have actually advised to the contrary and says boiler should have cut out. Can anybody confirm which information is correct

We had our boiler installed by British Gas in 2002 and it's given us nothing but trouble. We are so glad we have the Homecare cover from the gas board as it would have cost us a fortune to fix it every time. Their engineers have even told us that they no longer fit it as it gave them so much trouble. My Ideal boiler has just been condemned as not economical to repair. Ideal boilers are totally un-reliable and the company is the worse one I have ever dealt with. Ideal totally replaced the boiler as they could not remove the heat exchanger, after about 3 years. At the next breakdown they told me the boiler had not been installed properly and it was unsafe and that I should go back to the installers to get it installed properly! I pointed out to them that they were the installers. Avoid Ideal boilers.

Ideal ISAR 35 HE condensing combi boiler. This poor excuse for a boiler was instuled 5 years ago, from the first year it started turning on and off displaying T which means its on a test, well it must fail the test every time, because it's constantly re-testing up to 6 to 7 time an hour, which heats the radiators, wasting energy, then the PCB broke, had that fixed, thought that might stop the constant testing, but no, on it goes, it has now developed a leak from the heat exchanger, so i will... Having moved in to a new house in August last year we inherited a Isar HE35 which up to a few weeks ago seemed to work OK apart from the loud 'explosion' when it went goes through the ignition process (even my new neighbours have commented that they can hear it). hi, sounds like it's not getting seviced properly!
firstly, noisy ign is probably a worn ign electrode, which should be checked/replaced at the annual service.
The second fault appears to be the diverter cartridge sticking as "t" is dhw pre-heat,which can fail if the system water quality is poor. this will heat the rads when no demand!
These days boilers need opened up at a service not just safety checked! hope this helps.

Hello David,
just to comment on the \"Explosion\" you are experiencing with your isar. We had the isar HE30 fitted under the warm front scheme 3yrs ago. After a couple of weeks we had the same Explosion most times it fired up? It appeared to be coming from the outlet pipe.
It was like being next to a 12bore shotgun going off when it happened.
All in all we had 13 visits from Isat engineers, who practically replaced every part---withou any difference? Just our luck the \"bang\" never happened when an engineer was present?
However, eventually in a last ditch attempt to rectify the problem before it was \"Condemned\" an engineer replaced the actual Burner? He replaced it with the earlier model of plate? Nontheless it worked? Hope this helps?
Steve

A neighbour currently has prolems with H..4 alternate flashing and the reset button not working so that the ideal isar HE 35 cannot fire up and this boiler is two years old. Bellway Homes put these in all the new houses around here at that time so I assume we will all suffer.

I had to post a review to help some of you with the Ideal Isar boiler.
My mother had one fitted via Warmfront 2 years ago. Recently the pcb went down and Warmfront wanted £258 to replace and service and only give 1 months guarantee with the board !
I contacted TEC SERVICE GROUP 01213530068 who repair the boards for £65+ postage. They advertise on Ebay, user name compumerv.
Anyway I went over, met the man and had a replacement board. They checked mom's board and said it was the usual fault... (read more)

Since I have had this boiler it had needed a new pump, have found it difficult to understand programming, there is a leak if water heat is below 3/4 to max temp (ie scalding hot) now it has been acting up and needing to be on override to get a warm house and finally it has lost all power.
The settings control downstairs is working and the wall power unit is working but there is Zero life at the boiler including even a power supplied light.

Recommended and fitted by british gas in 2002. cost a lot of money but wanted to modernise things. Broke down within ten minutes of being fitted. waited two weeks for another part. Water leaked over kitchen flooring. Have been forced to take out gas plans so cost me 240=300 pds per year to keep running from new. Always breaking down - do not buy, do not accept it free. Trying to save up for new boiler but recommend a five year guarantee next time. (read more)
