i bought inspiron 1501 in dec 2007. when i bought, it was working fine...after 1 year, battery`s life decreases and laptop getting hot...
also most time if i run lapto for more than 6 hrs continously,it automatically off....also dont have webcam and inbuilt mic.. In starting, my pc was getting hang b/s grapics problem, for avoiding, i have to start firewall.....overall its performance is ok...and easy to use with no extra features....now i planning to install windows 7....and may be within 2year, i will sell....

Bought my 1501 at a great price. I was pleasently surprised at the performance. Came with 160 Gig HD 7,200 rpm SATA. 2 GIG RAM. Vista 32. Upgraded to 4 Gig RAM and 320 Gig HD SATA 7,200 RPM and Vista 64 Bit then Virtualized Vista 32, XP 64 Bit, XP Pro 32 BIT, and Suse Linux. The turion 64 x2 Handles all well but for best performance turn the Catalyst from best quality to best performance. Highly recomend this

Generally it is a good basic laptop, that does the job well, if not slighty slowly, but the screen, keypad and speakers are nice. It is quite sturdy too. Looks wise, they are pretty basic, but if your the sort of person who doesnt really care for that sort of thing, it should be a good latop. I have had this for almost 2 years now and is still going strong!

Does everything very well. I run Vista ultimate 64bit without any issues. Since Im not a hardcore gamer, I play NFS Most wanted in high res with medium detail, handles quite well, although it struggles high detail. Excellent for Wireless internet.
Overall Im happy with my purchase

When it is working it is great and perfect for what I do with it
I am a DJ so have all my music on it and I use that to play it off

I have 123 programs on it and they all work perfect

I have put xp on it and to get the drivers off the dell driver site and it was easy to get them

I have accidentally opened internet explorer 100 times at once
(all my fault not computers) and it didn't freeze they just came up and when I clicked close group they all went.

Good(ish) battery life, memory. Windows Vista capable, selling a lot cheaper now than what I bought it for
Quite impressed, would like it to run smoother, but good for kids to do schoolwork on etc. Well recommend Dell Inspiron 1501.

I was really disappointed with this Dell Laptop, Had a nightmare getting it delivered in the first place - 12 months later the webcam still hasn't turned up, have now given up. Spilt coke on it within first few days of getting it and had to have an engineer come round to replace the key board (fair enough) - even he was bemused by how slow it was and told me himself that he thought it was a rubbish laptop. Keys seem to get very sticky when it heats up but that may be cola residue (in which case ...

I bought my Dell Inspiron last November. I find it incredibly slow, especially when using wireless broadband. Dell's after care service has been useless. They have been unable to resolve the problem and will not accept liability if it is a software problem, even though I bought the software from them. NOT RECOMMENDED.

This is an excellent laptop at an incredible price. It has a bright screen and windows vista as standard. The build quality is good and the laptop performs well. I've had no troubles so far
