    Good Points: The Keyboard Layout.
    The screen display.
    Ports.
    Runs very quietly.

Bad Points: Relatively low hard-drive capacity.
Speakers can be a bit quiet.
    Poor battery life.
    Hard to expand RAM.

General comments: The Advent 7109b is a good laptop and great value for money. Good screen with brightness controls. However, I experienced poor battery life with it. I expanded the hard-drive to 250gb recently, and was impressed by how easy it was to do this.
However, when it came to upgrading the RAM from 1gb to 2gb, I was amazed at how hard it was to do this. The empty RAM slot was under the keyboard, and it took a long amount of time to actually pry the keyboard out, and put the RAM stick in. However, the laptop immediately recognised the RAM with no faults at all.

The ports are good, with 3 x USB ports, a PC output, ethernet and a PCI slot.

All in all, a very good laptop, overshadowed with the difficulty in upgrading RAM.

I have had this Advent 7109b laptop for around 2 years and it's been ok. I paid a basic price and got a basic laptop. The battery life has never been good and of late the battery has completely died, meaning I'm having to use the AC cable which is a nightmare if I need to print or take my laptop to a different room as it switches off as soon as I unplug. The main problem with this? I cannot find a new battery anywhere, despite trawling the internet. Good points are: Small. Light. Ideal for trave ...

Speed, size of the HDD really a great second computer for the home if you already have a desktop.
Great computer for home computing but when you are out and about you will need something with a longer battery life

This laptop is reliable and has excellent all-round features including Firewire/USB/DVD-DL writer/Recovery Tools/Sound/Video that will meet most user needs. Thoroughly recommended as a home machine for general use. Excellent value for money and will do most things for most users without a hitch. MS XP being very stable and reliable, and easy to use no matter what the user competency level might be. 15 months use without an issue.

A very good laptop, especially for students and Adults alike, not really suitable for business men, with a battery life of only 2.15 hours.
