I've had this Advent 8109 laptop 3 years and its only worked for 2.
the motherboard is burnt in the middle
its burned out 5 chargers on me
after about a year and a half it gets really slow.
    it sucks.

if your ever going to get a laptop... save for a MacBook. they last YEARS longer.

what i still like about it now is that the speakers are still really loud. and that its easy to use, all the buttons are set out simply so you get to know it pretty quickly.

As per usual with all advents, drivers will always be an issue so pray you never loose your cd. Buy a better brand, with better support.

I ran the Advent 8109 alongside another notebook with more Processing power but lesser RAM. At first, mine shot ahead with light functions such as buffering larger chunks of online media and generally opening programs faster. However, it did fall short when it came to rendering audio or video data and other power hungry applications. Also, I would recommend a heavy end user to arrange for additional storage disk space (I had to buy a separate external Hard Disk drive in addition to my standard 6 ...
