Discovered their sneaky 'autorenewal' of home insurance. To cancel this you have to 'contact us'. Their 'help and contact' link is dead. Their 'chat' facility is dead. The personal account page offers no way of simply cancelling. No way was I going to phone and be put in a queue. Eventually found an email link to AXA who now apparently have taken over. Endsleigh's partner Premium Credit is just as bad. A request for contact via email just doesn't work. Endsleigh sent me an email in December 2018 to complete a satisfaction survey. Guess what? The email is corrupted and won't open properly. Avoid at all costs.

“expensive and incompetent”

★☆☆☆☆

written by mhin on 22/07/2017

I Contacted endsleigh after i got renewal notice for home contents insurance. Their best quote was 300% more expensive than comparable policy with legal and general ! So i informed them i would not be renewing. All seemed well until i got a threatening letter from premium credit that they had not received a payment. Got in touch with endsleigh who told me after investigation that my instruction had indeed been received but not acted on. Spent 1.5 hours on this and they refused to compensate me for their incompetence and the time i wasted. Now need to waste more time with premium credit. Be warned avoid endsliegh and premium credit_ the cost of my policy was close to the charges i would have paid to premium credit. If you are a student and end up in similar situation, be under no illusion your credit rating is in danger from these charlatan profiteers. The amount saved has been donated to the UNICEF Yemen appeal...money better directed. Perhaps Endsleigh and Premium credit would also like to donate ...that would be compensation enough for me, and hopefully others who have been let down by this pair of corporate incompetents/bullies!

“Insurance not fit for purpose”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Stew63 on 15/06/2017

My sons flat was flooded from upstairs and ha made the huge mistake of claiming from his insurance as there was damage to his ceiling, walls ,carpet and sofa. The claims department was less than helpful or sympathetic and only seemed interested in excess payments.Eventually after about 3 or 4phone calls got a decent guy who set the wheels in motion and arranged for an assessor to come out to look at the buildings damage and someone from another company to inspect the carpet. The next time I called this young man "no longer worked there".He must have been too good for the department!!!Next was a Loss Adjuster who came out then someone from another company to inspect the sofa. This was not condemned, the carpet was and the guy cut a great lump out of it!Anyway after 9weeks,6 different visits, loads of phone calls and 4 requests for excess payments I cancelled the contents claim and the work was done.I have emailed a complaint to them and the Ombudsman.I tried to email the CEO but it bounced back.I have heard nothing from them after a week but fully intend to go to a legal eagle in the asunday papers as I want to cancel insurance with them at no cost to me and compensation for all the phone calls and stress. They seem to forget that customers have jobs and can't be there for all their investigators visits.I am still waiting for yet another company who are working on behalf of Endsleigh to claim the money back from the neighbours insurer and I can get my excess payment back. This involves chasing them up every week for updates.I don't even know how much they paid out in total.I am sure all these other companies are making plenty fro customers claims.Dreadful service not designed for the paying customer at all.

“ where is financial services authority”

written by kashifmansoor on 26/03/2016

They want your money and do not provide any assistance when you need help. It seems no one protects the consumers in this country called Great Britain. All the regulations are meant to be for the public servants in particular physicians every one else can continue. You have been warned, stay clear and go to trusted bank instead

“Absolutely useless, appalling service, bad customer...”

written by Juliemiller1963 on 18/02/2016

Having taken out landlords insurance we had a water leek at our rented property. Endsleigh instructed me to use my own plumber to go out as they could not do it immediately and there was water coming through the ceiling. To cut a long story short I sent my plumber out followed by 2 Endsleigh plumbers instructed by the company only to be told that because they can't find the problem they will not pay out. I can not speak to a manager they are just like robots with recorded messages. Never been so frustrated in my life but still battling forward. To give an example of a good insurance company they should look at Saga perfect service from them

“never buy from them”

★☆☆☆☆

written by riteshg on 24/07/2015

I had a burglary at my house and filed my claim. All the jewellery was taken and we provided all receipts and photographic evidence to the loss adjuster. They took 7 months to come back and say that the claim would not be withheld and cancelled my policy saying that if they knew we had that jewellery at home they would not have provided the cover. Please note that the total cover that i was insured for was £50,000 and the claim was within this limit. By cancelling the policy and refunding it, they have washed their hands off the claim completely and we can now not get any reasonable insurance policy (car, home etc) because of this cancellation. Endsleigh is an insurance broker and the underwriter was Legal and General. Please avoid both these companies. I have realised now that it makes more sense to go for a higher premium than go with these companies. BEWARE

“Do Not buy Mobile Insurance from them! ”

I recently had to use the mobile insurance on my contents cover with Endsleigh and it took over two weeks for them to fix my phone with no replacement and they charged 100 pounds for it!

“the E stands for extortion”

★☆☆☆☆

written by nhBallard454 on 21/04/2015

That's my mnemonic for avoiding Endsleigh in the future. I was "advised" by my letting agent to go with them for a 6 months let, but they would offer 12 months policies. They advised me to take it, with the possibility to cancel after 6 months if needed. They failed to mention the £20.00 "cancellation fee". Also they suggested the monthly installments via Premium Credit, which charges an exorbitant rate of 17% APR for such payment. All in the fine print nothing mentioned on the phone nor online. Finally, they sent me the policy to the new address before I moved in (my fault for being too "early"?) and charged me £10 for "late response" because I didn't get to see their letter in time (way before the policy started).

“AWFUL”

★☆☆☆☆

written by EM456 on 18/02/2015

I dropped my laptop which has been insured with endsleigh for over 4 years. I am covered under accidental damage so made a claim. Got given a date to have the laptop picked up- no one turned up after I took the day off work!!! Then I was told I would have to wait in again! Again they did not turn up! In the end they had to come in special hours to collect. We were told the laptop was fixed. When we received the laptop back it was not fixed. The laptop had a battery life of 1 hour, every time the screen timed out the laptop turned itself off and then to top it off a big black mark appeared in the screen after about 3 uses. We contacted endsleigh and had it sent off again. They came back to us and said we had damaged it on purpose and if we wanted it fixed we would have to pay another £50!!! They even admitted they had no evidence of this! The whole experience was a nightmare and I have since found out that the person that dealt with our claim was 'new'.  I have paid my insurance EVERY MONTH FOR 6 YEARS and then when I need to claim I am accused of being a liar. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY/ RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY EVER! I am also going to trading standards. Disgraceful !

“Took weeks of chasing to fill claim”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 75Vargas on 02/10/2014

Endsleigh are a completely incompetent insurance company with lazy staff. My iphone was stolen 2 weeks ago and I called them to report the claim within 3 days of it being stolen ( it took 3 days to get the police reference number ) . I then had to wait a week before anyone called me about the claim and was then told there were no claims handlers free and to call back. When I called back I gave my statement and police report number etc and was told that as it was 5pm ( they close are 5.30pm ) they couldn't possibly give the claim to the company who they use to fill the claims so I'd be called the next day to arrange getting a replacement phone. I didn't hear from them the next day by 3pm so I called them and was told that the claim had still not been sent to the company filling the claims and they'd do it right then and I'd be called later that day or the next. I was called at 4.30pm by bevalued ( the company filling the claim ) and was told that their cut off for next day delivery was 4pm so I couldn't get it until Monday as it was now Thursday. Monday will have been over 2 weeks since it was stolen. When I asked why they hadn't called before 4 they told me Endsleigh hadn't given them the claim until 4.10 - over an hour after I was told they were doing it right then. Also repeatedly when trying to make the claim they failed to understand I didn't have a contact number as my mobile phone was what was stolen and therefore I had to borrow phones or call on skype to contact them. I will never use them to insure my phone again and I'd strongly advise anyone against using them.

“Very Unsatisfactory”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AnnieHenderson59 on 16/08/2014

A long time after notifying Endsleigh of ceiling damage due to a storm we received a letter stating we were not covered as it was wear and tear and their report said a large vehicle had struck the back of our roof. This is incorrect as our house is only 2 years old and there is no vehicular access to the back of our home. As it had taken a long time and several lengthy phone calls to receive this letter regarding the damage we thought we would not pursue it any further as we felt Endsleigh were being difficult and it was not worth the hassle to continue. However, when renewing our insurance the premium had escalated and when we tried to get insurance elsewhere we were being financially penalised with higher renew quotes due to this unpaid claim with Endsleigh. We contacted Endsleigh again and it appears that the information on our claim was merged with another person's claim (the report states a different age of house, different owners and different claim details). At present we are trying to get their error rectified but Endsleigh are not being helpful.

“Appalling service , appalling company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Somersetfloody on 28/07/2014

Part of my roof blew off in The February gales. I rang my home insurance, Endsleigh, at once to report it and was told to go and get the work done. I did . Despite constant calls and e mails there was no response from Endsleigh. I put in an internal complaint. No one came,no one contacted me until June. Huben I was told my claim had been turned down because the roof was badly maintained. This was information they gathered from the photos taken by my builder. The reason for saying it was badly maintained was because 'there was moss on the roof'. The roof itself was only 7 years old, and it wasn't the only one in the road affected by gales that day. I argued the point and eventually they agreed it was storm do age , then queried the hours the builder had spent on it. By this time it was July, and the only letters I Had from them were the renewal notices. I. The interim I was finally sent a letter saying that they had just been told I had put a complaint in which in reality had been weeks earlier. Even their own complaints department couldn't get a resolution from Service Solutions, who they use to assess costs. I lost count of the. Number of times I was told it would be 'sorted today'. In the end I accepted the last offer because I needed to pay the builder, but have had to pay the difference myself out of my own pocket, and as a pensioner it has hit me hard. The whole experience has been appalling. A truly awful company.

“Do Not Like People Who Dare to Cancel!! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by dbHarrison100 on 11/04/2014

I had Endsleigh Home Insurance for years - stupidly without comparing! When I finally did, I was horrified to see that they were charging roughly 4 times more than other Companies for the same cover! Needless to say, I cancelled as soon as the "your policy is ending, you need do nothing unless you wish to cancel ...." standard letter arrived. This was when my problems began! I was plagued by endless letters and phone calls. I was told I owed money. Then I was threatened with debt collectors (for £27). Constant phone calls which got more and more threatening, letters that various companies Endsleigh obviously use that didn't arrive and demands to pay said companies "right now" over the phone!! I do not appreciate being threatened - have never owed anyone any money and, in this day and age, certainly do not intend to happily give out my Debit Card details over the phone to a company I've never heard of! Avoid this "Company" like the plague!!

“Can't accept cancellation”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 26/10/2013

My policy was due on 1 November 2013 but I didn't want to renew with Endsleigh - rubbish customer service - so sent an email on 9 October confirming my intention to go elsewhere. I received a reply on 11 October confirming this. I also sent a letter, knowing how emails get "lost". Endsleigh then sent another email on 18 October telling my to renew my policy forthwith. I sent another email. I then received a letter on 25 October, complaining that Endsleigh couldn't get in touch with me to renew! I phoned (kept on hold for 15 minutes) and complained, to be told that I had "told them months ago I wasn't renewing and the computer can't process that until a month from renewal". All lies. I would NEVER recommend Endsleigh. They don't want to let you go and are incapable of accepting you want to leave.

“Ripped off by Endsleigh”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/06/2012

Took out a years policy, but landlord wanted property back after few months so called them to either hold or cancel the policy, they did and took all the remaining amount as a cancellation fee. 4 months cover used and 8 months of penalty for cancelling. Awful insurance company and way they respond to complaints. Be warned, do not pay for a full year in advance

“Very satisfied”

★★★★★

written by Redleader67 on 25/11/2011

Policy bought on line via compare the Market. It wAs the second lowest and in my opinion the best value. We have had to make two claims this year and the claims team have been very responsive and settled for the replacement value even though some items where over 3 years old. I am very satisfied and could not fault them. Well done.

“NEVER BUY ENDSLEIGH INSURANCE PRODUCTS - TOTAL RIP OFF ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/08/2011

I am moving house and when I contacted them to do a change of address and was told it would cost me £20 administration fee on top of the change in risk. I asked what this was for and was told it was for my documents being updated online??? They are claiming to be online their version of online is completely antiquated. I also work for a 'Real' online insurer and know for a fact that it does not cost £20 to update online documents! I then said it wasn't worth it and as there was only 2 months left just cancel my policy at which point I was informed it would cost me £50 for cancelling mid term for what was only a £100 contents policy!!!!!!!!!!! Total rip off and I wouldn't recommend this company to anybody EVER. Get your act together Endsleigh.

“Useless! I had Ensleigh contents cover for a year. I...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 24/09/2010

Useless! I had Ensleigh contents cover for a year. I decided not to renew as , and 3 months before the cover was due to expire I emailed to let them know that I didn't want to renew. I was told that this was fine. A month before the cover was due to expire I was phoned by Ensleigh and asked if I wanted to renew - I said no.

After the year was up I discovered that cover had been renewed, without any correspondance or notification. Most annoying of all, the account that the money had been taken out of didn't have enough money in it, so I had gone overdrawn and charged by my bank. I've spent so much time trying to sort this out with Ensleigh, and a month later, so haven't been reinbursed.

Shocking customer service - avoid!
