I used to thinks this was one of the finest soups going, but I am really gutted by the new recipe, they have obviously given the chefs hat to the company accountant, come on Baxters, listen to your customers and not the sound of money into your piggy bank! Your reputation was second to one, now it's as low as it can be in my eyes, no more Baxters products forme… Read Full Review

I just tried a tin after abstaining for a little while and was very disappointed to find it's not the same wonderful, rich, hearty soup I remember; watery in taste with almost no meat in it at all... So this is what Baxter's mean by "New Recipe". Like a lot of food manufacturers these days, Baxter's are obviously cutting their products to the bone to save on costs - but in doing so are inextricably cutting their own throats, as regular customers are not stupid enough to not notice the drop in… Read Full Review

I grew up with this soup and used to love it. However the new recipe is awful. Watery tasteless and not like I remember. I do not buy it anymore and would not recommend it. Is Royal Game still made in Scotland or made abroad ? I would suggest that the women in charge of Baxter's tries it ! Real shame… Read Full Review

What a disappointment. Even with extra salt, pepper, and some Lea and Perrins I couldn't make this watery gruel taste remotely decent. Avoid. It was so poor I said to myself " I wonder if there are other people who think it's this bad"… so I googled reviews for it!… Read Full Review

Baxters Royal Game Soup was the premium soup we had as younsters. I bought a tin yesterday as a treat for our lunch. It was such a disappointment. Weak, watery, tasteless and we both got a lump of chewy cartilidge in our plates. I added salt and pepper but it didn't help. Shame on you Baxter's, your soup is as thin as Kate Moss. Not buying it again… Read Full Review

Used to love this. bought three tins with a smile. New recipe is like dishwasher, very weak. flavour seems to have gone as does the meat, potatoes etc. Massive shame. I've got two tins going spare now. Would love to see them being back the proper recipe. Why mess with a winning combination? Madness. … Read Full Review

Bought a tin of this soup, was looking forward to trying it. I've really liked the game meats I've had in the past, but haven't had many opportunities lately to try any. I saw pheasant and venison and tossed the tin in my basket. Can't say it wound up being worth it. I found the consistency weak--I've had beef mince in gravy that felt heartier. Everything was chopped so finely that it felt like what had once been soup had been put through a sieve, and without any bold flavours or textures, I… Read Full Review

I used to eat this soup all the time, loved it, packed with flavour and a decent amount of meat in there, a quality soup. Today I bought some and it was awful, bland and tasteless, even with more salt. When I checked the can I found the message "Improved recipe", it figures. Before I'd give it five stars, now I will give it one star and will not buy it again. They did the same thing with the French onion soup a year or so back, it's now a sort of orange colour instead of dark brown but at… Read Full Review

I love Baxters Royal Game soup. I couldn't get enough of it once I discovered it a couple of years ago and it really helped me get through an illness last year when I just couldn't be bothered to cook. It's just so hearty. Not sure why so many people here are talking about having to add loads of salt, but then adding salt is 'to taste'. I only need to add a little lowsalt and a touch of chopped parsley and ...perfection! I always found it odd that it seemed to be priced the same as all the… Read Full Review

As per one of the previous reviews, it's very sad that Baxter's changed the recipe of this. I grew up on this and now it seems very sweet in comparison and needs a lot of salt. Come on Baxter's, give us the original back!!!!! Also it appears to disappear of the shop shelfs for months at a time… Read Full Review

I adore this soup! My mother sent some to me in a hamper at christmas time. 4 tins of it and i'm not kidding, that soup dissapeared within a couple of days. It needed a little pepper i must admit but after you add the pepper it's perfect! Just what you need to warm up on a cold day. I will be sending my mother money soon so she can buy me a whole case!… Read Full Review

I do not particularly like this soup to eat as soup but as a base for casseroles and mince it surpasses all others eg. Oxo, beef stock etc. One good recipe is to fry onions, mushrooms and good quality beefburgers in a pan then add tin of Baxter's Game Soup and a glass of red wine and simmer until cooked - DELICIOUS!!!!!… Read Full Review

Sadly, they changed the recipe for Baxters Royal Game Soup about 10 years ago & sadly the flavour too. this new thin gravy type soup is a poor imitation of the original, tasting more of turnip than game. As a previous contributer added, they forgot to add any seasoning too!… Read Full Review

Baxters Royal Game Soup is tasty, nourishing, filling.
Good value for money.
Never buy it as emergency kitchen cupboard food stock.
Once tasted, you'll never be able to resist the temptation to have a yummie bowl of Baxter's Royal Game.
I love it… Read Full Review

I have only tried this soup once and I thought it was awful. It tasted of absolutely nothing...like extremely weak gravy but with less flavour. Even a ton of salt didn't give it any taste. I saw no meat in it whatsoever... I would not recommend it… Read Full Review

Royal Game Soup is a great soup.
I have eaten it since I was a very small boy and I still love the flavour to this day.
Although it is not a thick soup, it is very filling and is well worth the money.
Also when you are heating your soup up, it smells ace!
Highly recommended… Read Full Review
