“Motorcaddie S1 didgital”

★★★★☆

written by PaulDan on 06/07/2012

I bought the S1 two years ago, the trolley has never let me down, the battery is still going strong, it will do over 40 holes, not bad for a 18 hole unit.If you follow the manufactures instructions on charging it will keep going. The trolley is quite slow up the hills, however when it gets on the level you have to reduce the speed down to setting 6/7. Lots of my club members have purchased the S1/S3 trollies since my started going round the course with mine. lots of comments from admiring players young and old on the S1, must admit i still give it a good clean after every round keeps it looking good. Movement in the rear wheels is the only fault to press, i can buy a full set of rears/front for £29.99 from Motorcaddie direct so not a massive spend to get thing back to normal, i will keep using the original rears for know. I beleive if you look after your trolley it will look after you. Too many players don't look after them then winge when they break. Thanks Paul.

Hyena's Response to PaulDan's Review

Yes, I agree that the wheels are the "Achilles heel" of this trolley. After 6 months the tread had virtually gone and the drive wheel slips and slides all over the place, even in dry conditions. The slide also reduces battery run significantly so pushed to last 18 holes. The Powacaddy provides pneumatic tyres-a MUST in my opinion, and a good reason to buy that over the Motocaddy.

I can't believe some of these comments as I bought my motorcaddy S1 in January 2008 and it has been excellent with no problems. The battery is still fine with no sign of losing any power. I have receommended the Motocaddy to many and wish i'd bought one sooner

This review is based on my own findings after reading most of the review regarding Motocaddy electric golf trolleys. Looking for a new electric golf trolley and glad I read thses reviews first, as Motocaddy was one at the top of my list. Good frank statements by users are far better than magazine reviews, the truth is always stated reperformance / quality.

Interesting reading other comments. My axle snapped after 18 months and got a local repair man to do the job - he supplied the genuine bits therefore no postage. 18 months later all fine. Cable comes out from motor to gearbox - tip the trolley to the right and it's easy to put back in. Battery only just starting to go after 3 years. Have done numerous 36 hole days with it and yesterday it ran out of juice for the first time - up the steep 18th at Longridge (any one whose played there will know most things run out of juice up the 18th!!!). Plus, playing with other people with other makes - they all have their problems. Overall can't really grumble, the amount of miles it's done.

Mine is a 27 hole battery. I can do two rounds in a day, no problem. I have had this trolley for two years with no problems. Like all these things, you need to look after them.

Overall I am extremely pleased with the unit. I purchased an S1 bag with the unit and this is also excellent particularly the anti-rotation base which works well.

Why will Motocaddy not admit that there is a fault with there control switch on the s1 trolly? I have one and it is useless. Does anyone else have this problem?

I found that the Motocaddy S1 with a lithium battery is too heavy for me when turning it to different directions. My shoulder muscles ache after a round of golf. How do you turn the S1 round without straining your shoulders?

I have just bought a Club Series Cart Bag for my S1 Digital and screwed in the lugs for the easy lock and fitted it to my trolly. Other than by using brute force and ignorance how do you release the bag from the trolly?  Thank you
