Maytage Neptune MAH4000AWW washer. Purchased in late 1999, had mold problems and wax motor failure (R11 and Q6 burnout.) Recent internet research revealed these problems were pandemic for this model. Phone and written communications with Maytag were fruitless and frustrating. Upset that they knew how to contact me to solicit extended warranty but not about law suit. Felt like they were blaming me for missing their free help because I don't subscribe to USA Today where they had a notice years ago. For the price paid, the machines are not worth it. Maytag/Whirlpool fail miserably on customer service

My Maytag Neptune Washer MAH4000AW is 7.5 years old. During the time I have owned it, it has had most major components replaced. This has included the rubber seal being replaced with a new seal with drain; door latch wax motor replaced; motor and motor control board being replaced, timer switch being replaced, and control board being replaced. With the exception of the timer switch, I was fortunate to have the other (expensive) items replaced under the recall lawsuit, or under the 10 year motor ...

I would never recommend the Maytag Neptune Washer MAH4000 to anyone. i have had service calls on this expensive washing since i bought it. It has been one disaster after another. Almost every part has been replaced at least once and it is less than 2 years old

I don't even want to think what it will cost to repair this expensive washer. For what? A few more years - maybe? I already know I'll do better to get a used 'Ol' Reliable' any day of the week, and will to bet you my bottom dollar it'll outlast any repairs to the 'new and improved' by 10 years more. I have an old Maytag washer I'm getting cheaper than the repairs to the expensive Neptune. If Maytag cared about their reputation, they'd make the repairs a lot cheaper. Better yet, make repairs ...

The Maytag Neptune Washer MAH4000 is a defective product that was brought out by Whirlpool but the problems still persist. No support on old models. New models exhibit similar defects.

We bought the Maytag Neptune washer and dryer 8-19-99, Thats young for a Maytag washer and the money we spent on purchasing the pair. We e-mailed Maytag and sent them all of the information they asked for. Very disappointed on the way Maytag does not seem to be standing behind their product. Hoping Maytag makes things right, we have been very patient but after awhile, when they do not respond, our patience is starting to wear out!

We bought our Maytag Neptune Washer and Dryer brand new in 1998 and just love it. We did have to have recall repairs made to it - but since we still own them and they run great, MAYTAG IS THE BEST!!

Never again!!!! I'll stick to my 15 year old Whirlpool that I have never had a single problem with. Todays wonderful pieces of technology are ridiculously priced for what you get from them. The older, more simple models are still the best. Plus an added benefit - they were one-tenth the price. They may not have all of the bells and whistles the new ones come with, but when you are simply washing clothes - how many options do you REALLY need?

Looked great and came with a great reputation but turned out to be all style and no substance.

I have just replaced the motor and control panel on my Maytag Neptune Washer MAH4000 washing machine after 5 years of light use, with just 2 of us. My Mother's is still going strong after 25 years! What happened to sturdy American products? Harvard grad school of business? What a shame!

Can I return old parts to Maytag for credit?

I paid $1000 for a new Maytag Neptune MAH4000 washing machine. At the time there were not enough problems showing up to see complaints on the internet. Now there are tons of complaints to be found.
We have had numerous issues as mentioned above. The latest was the circuit board failure that doesn't allow the spin cycle to work. They wanted a lot of money for a new board, but I found out that there is a seal kit for the front door seal that they will send you for free if you tell them you are ha ...

I bought my Maytag Neptune MAH4000 Washing Machine in 1999, and I was thrilled to actually own the "best". What a sad disappointment. I had a cheapo Hotpoint that just wouldn't die, and my $1000 Maytag doesn't work for longer than a few months at a time. I blamed my soap and everything else for several months, thinking the problem must be something I was doing, because MAYTAG is reliable, HAH! It's down again with a failed motor control board, and guess what? No more Maytags in this house! I cal ...

I've had my Maytag Neptune Washer MAH4000 for 2 months past waranty (5 years 2 months), and as nature and the Moon Gods would have it, WAM, the R-11 blows. Not knowing anything about it I decided it was time to learn. The circuit board cost me $189.99 (fortunately, it seems there are plenty in stock) and the parts man explained to me that the problem was because of a $15 wax switch which he also had plenty in stock of.

Being a Maytag, you'd think they would fix the $15 wax motor so not to ta ...

Maytag Neptune Washer MAH4000 - Here is my sad tale...

Purchased in 1998. First two years wonderful.
    Then....
    1. Broken yoke and inner drum. Repaired.
    2. Bad inertial safety switch. Repaired.
Second week noticed slight odor. Started unplugging and leaving door ajar. Good thing. If we hadn't we would have lost the control borad, wax motor and possibly drive motor.

Build up of moisture is what others have had.

    Recently..
    3. Bad bearing.
I will not repair. I am looking at either Bos ...

I purchased my Maytag Neptune in 1999 and although I have had a couple of minor problems I have found Maytag to be most cooperative and helpful in rectifying the problems and always followed up to make sure all work was done properly and in a timely manner. I expect my washer and dryer will last for many years to come but, when I need to replace them I will definately purchase another Maytag.

Maytag Neptune Washer MAH4000 - People, this is truly a sad story. Maytag has spent generations building a good name for itself and for those of us naive enough to buy on reputation alone, we are sadly disappointed. I just came upstairs to write this review after spending the morning trying to solder a replacement resistor on the main control board in an effort to save a couple hundred dollars on yet another replacement circuit board. We have already had two burn out in the past and are tired ...

I have a Maytag Nepune Washer 4000 that is almost 4 years old. I have had the infamous R11 resistor burn out on the control board due to a faulty wax motor. Replaced wax motor and ordered the repair kit for the moldy door gasket, which comes with a new motherboard. Now my machine has gone down again. It is making a very loud banging noise during the spin cycle. I will call tomorrow to get an estimate for repair, but will probably end up buying another washer and ditching the Maytag. This wil ...
