Bought new in 2002 £1200 or so. Countless call-outs and at first for free from a fab technical team. Excellent wash although very annoying fault codes can occur. Search the web for ways to clear. £95 great for the service. We are looking for second hand machines to store for spare parts! Well done Mr Dyson and Co! Next time make it have less waste hose problems! (Needs to be at exactly the right hight and everything works great)...

When I bought my £1200 Dyson Washing machine 8 years ago the company was shouting from the rooftops that it would LAST FOR 20 YEARS. The faults started almost strait away and it was twice exchanged for drum bearing faults. Since then it has had a further 3 drums and various other parts costing me nearly £300 in repairs from Dyson. It is once again broken and since I am just outside the 12 month repair warranty Dyson do not want to know. I am told that they no longer have any new parts...

I found this review very helpful because... I have just had the same experience, bought new dyson washing machine in 2002. It broke down in 2006 they could not mend it so gave me a replacement. now in 2010 it has broken again and they cannot mend it at all, no spare parts so I am left having to buy another washing machine. The original dyson cost me £900 in 2002!!!!

I bougt my Dyson CRO1 in 2002, which cost me over £1000, i have had nothing but problems with it, the problems started 2 weeks after the 2 years guarantee had run out. The engineer has been out on countless occasions. In October i paid £95 for a service, all was ok until April when the problems started. The lastest was yesterday, when i was told the bearings have gone and they no longer repair it as they are unable to get parts because they are no longer making them. I was offered a...

The Dyson CRO1 washing machine has a great load capacity - I used to have to do a load a day (2 person household) with my old washer, with the CR01 this is down to 3 loads a week! Now we have a young baby we're up to 4-5 loads a week, I'd expect to be doing 8-10 in my old washer. Clothes come out looking and feeling cleaner and dryer and take less time in the tumble dryer despite my last washer being a 1600 spin and the Dyson only being a 1400. Dyson service - it's a fixed price repair for the...

Our Dyson CRO1 broke down at the end of November. Engineer came and said that it cannot be fixed due to there being on spares for it. My wife is upset to say the least. We will miss this machine very much....

Very dissapointed after paying £1000 on the reliability of my Dyson CRO1; has had 6 major faults in under 7 year and now will not repair free is quite old but they said tested to 20 years have said engineer may waive the fee but it is a chance i take on another 95 if he charges me....

I bought my Dyson when they first came onto the market paid £1100 think that was in 2002. I've never had a days worry or an engineer to visit. I loved the innovative mechanical genius that went into the making of it and as I had back problems it was set up on a plinth. This also helped access to the hoses but they havent been a problem. Its only in the last few months that the drum made a terrible grating sound and then spat out an almost whole credit card. unfortunately the rest must be...

I bought my Dyson CR01 six years ago. When it was 12 months old it developed a fault with the bearings, dyson replaced the machine without question. In 2005 i received a phone call from Dyson customer service stating that they were offering upgrades to the older CR01 models that would give them the improved capability of the newer designs (hardware and software upgrades). I was initially skeptical, but when I asked what the charge would be they stated it was a free service; true enough the upgrades...

This machine has iconic classic looks from the outset but it's not just a pretty face; its functionality is phenomenal. It's a machine that works as beautifully as it looks. I bought my Dyson CR01 nearly 7 years ago. It developed a problem after 5 years of use. The problem it had was it started leaking water from underneath the machine. I called Dyson and the engineers replaced an outlet tube that was punctured. No charge was made. The machine then developed a fault with the drums. Again I called...

What a waste of money this machine has been. Within 12 months of purchasing it I noticed small holes in lots of our clothes, I realised it was the machine causing the damage when I put a brand new top in to wash and it came out with 3 holes. Dyson tried to say it was bra wires causing the damage, until I pointed out I handwash my bras. They then suggested it was moths, until I pointed out moths don't eat synthetic fibres! They eventually changed the drum - guess what! 12months on and the holes are...

I guess dyson should have kept on their path of amazing vacuum cleaners rather than delving into areas of household chores that are already dealt with well by other companies. We needed new vacuum cleaner technology, but likely not washing machine technology.

I purchased my Dyson 7 years ago. After complaining about small holes in my clothes I too was told it was bra wire or moths. I would not take this answer as I have not lost a bra wire nor do I have moths so they changed the drum... still small holes appeared in everything from socks to coats. Eventually Dyson replaced my machine after 3 years with a brand new one, and guess what? Its a hole maker too! I will never recommend a Dyson washing machine to anyone as there is so many other manufacturers that now offer that large appealing drum. I think the problem lies with the two drums going in different directions, zips, buttons, etc get snagged on material and puncture the fibre.

Although Dyson don't make the CRO1 any more they still service them which is just as well as it breaks down thoroughly every 6 months or so. However, although it has taken up to 2 weeks for an engineer to come out they haven't yet charged and have replaced lots of bits. They were way too expensive when they came out and the engineer said the colours weren't popular or they would have done better - On balance I still wish we hadn't bought one as there are more reliable and effective models out there...

My Dyson CRO1 washing machine was bought in preference to a Miele with a 10 year guarantee. Obviously given with some confidence. The Dyson serviceability has been dreadful. 3 inner door handles, one new outer door, several leaks, one complete new drum assembly and another awaited. My last washing machine lasted 18 years, with 13 house moves, and it only needed a new set of motor brushes. The Dyson is a triumph of style over substance. Well, reliability at least. When working it's brilliant,...

I adore my Dyson CR01, it does what every other machine I have had has failed to do, large loads and 1400 spin. The coin trap is invaluable to me. Yet, I have had the engineer out at least 5 times (nice man though) and had to have my original CR01 replaced and there was a fault that could not be fixed. The one I have got now has suffered a cracked inside door (probably from doing a hot wash so the man presumed) and lcd screen was becoming unreadable. Extended guarantee is £99 a year, cheaper...

I purchased the first model of Dyson washing machine (Dyson CRO1), since then I have had the engineer out to it five times out of five years, each time it has been the gear box at fault, preventing the machine from spinning. £1,100 is a lot of money to pay for a continually faulty washer!
Though I must say, the engineers are very good....

When i first purchased my Dyson CR01 washing machine it was on the basis that Dyson aimed to send out engineers promptly to fix faults.
I have today (Friday 24/02/06) tried to book an appointment to fix my machine, and I have to wait until next Wednesday. Not only am I disappointed with the delay, but customer services cannot give an a.m. or p.m. indication.
Apparently the engineer only gets given the job the evening before....

The Dyson CRO1 is a superb machine, has done 1368 wash loads (there are eight people in our house) in just over two years. No I haven't been counting them, but it was stored in its memory!! Only problem in two years was that front door hinge snapped, this was repaired quickly. Today at 8.15am I reported F14 flooding fault and at 11am engineer arrived, replaced a hose and that was that. Unlike my two month old Hoover tumble dryer with a snapped drive belt; it is almost two weeks since we notified...

Dyson CRO1 - I bought the Dyson washer expecting many years of trouble-free use -- not so. I am awaiting delivery of my fourth Dyson washer due to total breakdown. Eventhough my Dyson has broken down about 3 times in the past two years it hasn't put me off this machine. It was the first of it's kind for the domestic market, hence you expect teething problems. Let's face it, you buy one of these you are buying into an image. I have always found the service department to be very polite, help to remedy the problem over the phone but when that is unsuccessful arrange for an engineer to attend to it. Which he did as arranged. Have you ever tried to wash a duvet...

At first I was very impressed with this Dyson CRO1 washer.
The size of the drum and access to it were excellent. The programme times seemed shorter than previous machines I had owned, and wash results were good.
Unfortunately after having the machine for one week, it started to fill with water when it wasn't in use.
Dyson's customer services told me I had installed the machine incorrectly and only on the second call did they agree to send out an engineer. The engineer found the inlet...

The Dyson CRO1 looks great, stands out from the rest. Takes a big load and cleans really well, no more two runs a night for us with this machine. Leaves clothes much drier than you would expect for the spin speed (probably due to the large drum size ie invrease in centripetal force)). Considerably quiter than our last machine which only lasted 7 years (it was a different make). As a bonus, the front door is made of the material used for riot shields! so I guess it's ready for anything. Expensive,...
