Good Points: Are there any? Oh yes it looks pretty.
Bad Points: Leaking water out for ages, now it seems it is completely worn out after only 3 years, lost £70 worth of food, Hotpoint Service Centre want over £100 for engineer just to come out! That is with no guarantee of being able to repair, no guarantee of any repair done, same service charge every time engineer comes out. And to compound the injury gave me the option of service plan at £15 per month for 10 months. May as well buy new freezer, but not Hotpoint or Indesit (also have hotpoint washer/dryer, that is equally as poor quality).
General comments: Very disappointed in the quality of the Hotpoint FFA90 fridge/freezer, other models have lasted 10 or more years, no problems. I had independent engineer come out and he said that the 'drain' had got blocked up with ice and therefore affected the efficiency or even its ability to function. (Design fault?). We have switched it off overnight and at the engineers return he told me that it had cleared itself. However 6hours later I am still waiting for it to reach a cold temperature, is this normal I wonder?

My Hotpoint FFA90 makes a very high, VERY noisy. There are loud bangs, cracks and roaring noises. It has flimsy shelving. It has started roaring all the time now. Many times we have been woken up the loud bangs, which the manual says are normal as things cool down and warm up, surely a fridge can do that without waking up the neighbours. Don't buy it if you have a choice

Noisy, grumbles and cracks, bangs REALLY loud!
Stops working on a monthly basis needing best 48 hours defrost
Problems with defrost, needs defrosted every month! So not as frost-free as they say.
Engineers called of on the day if repair or awaiting spare parts for 5 months since the last call, and this is a 3rd call since two years ago!
I was even advised that the quality of their products at present is not as good as before hence there is so many issues with them! Pity I was not told that bef ...

Hotpoint repairs are expensive despite free parts for first 5 years. Have had Hotpoint in the past and have always found them to be reliable but all our Hotpoint appliances bought in the last 4 years have been totally unreliable.

Well what can I say - apart from the noise aspect that I have learned to live with over the past 4 years, the door shelf clip broke that the milk bottles were stored in, the salad crisper drawers have cracked, the runners for the drawers in the freezer have cracked to show the insulation. It started to accumulate ice under the bottom freezer drawer that needed scrapping out weekly so I called in Hotpoint - The engineer came out and declared it uneconomical to repair so I am now waiting for my r ...

Purchased original FFA90 for 499.00 from Comet, no Hotpoint back up because of this it was up to Comet. Internal skin in freezer cracked where drawers slid in and out. Stopped working when 6 months old writing off all the contents of the freezer, the fancy alarm system never indicated any problem. Umpteen call outs, engineer said design fault and that the freezer was unrepairable so wrote it off with a red sticker. Replaced a month later (no fridge or freezer for this time) now selling at 299. ...

The Hotpoint FFA90 looks good and has plenty of space but it makes too much noise. We thought we had rats and had pest control out only to find when we moved the fridge freezer forward to look under the floor boards the damn thing started making noises like something was trying to escape from it. Very noisy. Would not recommend.

This is suppose to be a frost free fridge freezer, yet every 6-12 months the back panel of the freezer needs removing and defrosting. This is quite easy to do providing you have a TORXs screwdriver set. This is to remove the large amounts of ice that builds up around the fan an starts to make even more noise than ever. The hole to the evaporation tray constantly fills with water and surprise surprise being in a freezer it freezes up and then the freezer starts leaking. On a good day when its all ...

We have had ours for almost two years, and it is beginning to cause endless problems. As other reviewers have stated, the noise from the fridge is diabolical, and ranges from low whirring at best to an awful, very loud boy racers Nova at worst. Surprise, surprise, this only started happening three weeks after the one year warranty. Now, approaching its second birthday, the Hotpoint FFA90 fridge freezer stops working periodically, and only starts again once the temperature is changed. Failure to ...

Purchased the FFA90 13 months ago. 3 weeks after 12 month warranty the fridge began to warm up. The engineer ( £89-£98 call out ) informs my wife that the freezer liner has split and of course this is unrepairable. We can purchase insurance from them to replace new for old @ £14 per month.
Poor quality or what?????!!!!!

We purchased the Hotpoint FFA90 in August 2003, it is very noisy, it creaks, moans and bangs! At times it sounds as though some noisy spirit possesses it, but we are fortunate the kitchen is away from the rest of the house, so it doesn't effect normal living, i.e. sleeping, watching TV, listening to music etc!
My main concern is not about the noise, but something VERY DANGEROUS, which Hotpoint customer service doesn't give a damn about.
The milk-shelf on the upper fridge compartment is a l ...

The Hotpoint FFA90 fridge freezer is fine. Lots of space and the freezer draws are nice and deep.
However, the customer service at Hotpoint is diabolical if anything needs fixing. Although you get "free replacement parts for up to 5 years", it costs £96 for an Hotpoint specialist to come out and check out the problem.
After 14 months of buying it, the fan on our one started making a terrible noise. We were told it was due to not defrosting the freezer as ice had built up in the fan. The ...

I wish we had never brought the Hotpoint FFA90 fridge freezer. We wasted our money. We were beset with problems from day one - freezer not working, chemical leaking from the fridge, unacceptable noise level, engineer wait and fix time is so slow!!.
We have just dumped our fridge (less than a year old). Our new fridge has not given us one problem, and it is so quiet that we can not even tell it is on!!
I will never touch any Hotpoint product in the future.!!!

The shelf supports on the internal side panel of the Hotpoint FFA90 fridge freezer break easily, and reveal the foam insulation. Not well made at all.

I have had nothing but problems with the Hotpoint FFA90 Fridge/Freezer. It has been very unreliable, and the cost of an engineer from Hotpoint to repair any faults after 2 years is a minimum of £149! I think it is disgusting that having spent over £400 on this fridge/freezer in August 2003, we are having to replace it after 2 years due to the number of problems we have had.

I contacted Hotpoint regarding the problems with the Hotpoint FFA90 who blamed Currys for selling me the appliance and said it was Currys duty to tell me the appliance would be noisy. Also they say this is normal.
I personally don't think any appliance should be
this noisy and appliances should carry a noise level review.
