for the amount of food my family heats up, this microwave takes on a lot of work. good quality and seems to last a long time. Even bought one for my in-laws for their retirement home to heat up left overs. (read more)

I got this for Christmas 22 years ago and other than a little rust inside where the turntable turns--it still works as good as it did when I bought it. (read more)

My darn old microwave couldn't take it anymore. Purchased this brand and so far so good. Warms up the lunchs faster than the old one. Hopefully we can get several years out of it. (read more)

I have had this Microwave Convection Oven for over 25 years and it has been used on a daily basis since purchase. The convection part made cooking and browning food very easy. It cooked oven chips and steaks very well, nicely browned. The only fault that has occurred in over 25 years was the turntable rotator mounting broke preventing the turntable movement. However recently it developed an electrical fault so I new it was close to failure and a few days ago it finally failed. I will... (read more)

We had our Sharp Carousel from 1991 to 2011 and it was still working when we scrapped it. It was bought at the Yorkshire Electricity Board showrooms Hull for £249 and came with a 5 year guarantee (which was free - you didn't have to pay for many guarantees in those days)We got rid of it and the house(!) when we retired and downsized - meaning a large Microwave wasn't needed anymore so we have now got a smaller one. The Sharp was a testament to quality and durability.

Just broken after 21 years. I bet we can't find anything to replace it that lasts anywhere near as long or has given us such fantastic service. Use it everyday and solely for a few years when we didn't have a conventional oven. (read more)

Ours just quit today! Bought it in 1989. The greatest buy ever!

Bought ours in 1986 and hardly used a conventional oven since. Took it to have it checked for leakage a few years ago - engineer told me 'you will never be able to get another of this quality'. Sad thought. It has been amazing, never even had to replace the light-bulb. The interior door trim broke off a year ago but Superglue came to the rescue. When it eventually gives up the ghost I think we will feel bereaved. Everytime I use it I just can't believe it has lasted so long. (read more)

I bought my Sharp Carousel 11 over 27 years ago and it has just given up what can one get that last so long in these days and age... It was so easy to use. I have even cooked my Christmas Turkey in it and it came out better than an ordinary oven. I loved the size of my micro wave oven, it was worth every penny. (read more)

We bought ours as a 'second' sale from South Western Electricity (SWEB) in January 1991 for £100. Used every day since then and its only just gone pop. Nearly 21 years with no service / breakdowns - even the light bulb was never changed. I wish I could buy the same again........ (read more)

Given as a pre-wedding present, and used every day, almost exclusively for 10 years before we bought a conventional oven/cooker, this is still the best piece of kit I have ever encountered. So simple even I can use it, and so clever, that food never has that 'microdried' taste. Sadly the plastic door interior trim has dried out and fallen off, but still no microwave leakage detected. If only all equipment was made to last like this..... What didn't we like about it? Absolutely nothing! (read more)

We bought ours in 1991, and dare I say it, but it is still going strong. It is used every day, and we love the convection oven, faster and cheaper than heating up a regular size oven. The only thing I dislike about it is its size, but as it does so many things, I guess it needs to be big! (read more)

My mum bought a Sharp Carousel 2 microwave in 1978, and up until today we never had a problem with it. Served us faithfully all these years, and still have the operation manual .....Dont make them like this anymore - absolutely amazing service. Unfortunately today it decided to give up eventually - shame after all this time. Amazing product. (read more)

Ours was bought 20 years ago and was still going strong . . . until I dropped it. Now looking for a large microwave, easy to operate and without all the modern bells and whistles.
We just used it for steaming vegetables and defrosting. All we need is a simple power setting, an 'auto-minute' button and enough headroom to get a steamer in there. I'm finding that now the larger the microwave, the more 'features' there are. I don't want features. I want my Sharp Carousel back!

I've had my Sharp Carousel 2 for 24 years and it still cooks perfectly! Sure, it's huge on the counter but the display works as well as all of the buttons. I've never once had to call for service! So why get rid of the best microwave ever? Besides, I'm so curious as to how many more years it will last. Maybe I'll pass it down to the grandkids! ; ) (read more)

Over 20 years and still going strong, what else can I say? They dont make em like this anymore.
Simple to use, does what its supposed to, nothing more nothing less.
If you see one of these second hand, snap it up, you wont be disappointed.

The Sharp Carousel 2 is great - even second hand - would thoroughly recommend. I have had mine for 14 years, and it has never let me down. If Carlsberg made microwaves, it would be this one! Just a bit big to be one of those microwaves that fits snugly away on a shelf somewhere. (read more)

We have had this item for over 17 years and only once had to replace a part. This is an extremely reliable unit and easy to use compared to the modern computer chipped systems, that take 10 minutes to programme before you can use it. However, size of the item means that it takes up a lot of the worktop area. Highly recommended. (read more)

Your review would have been far more useful, Constance had you given us some indication of how much use it gets.
Whatever, glad to hear it's given such splendid service and don't worry about the rust as long as it's not eaten through the metal - that's the time to bin it!
