Saved up for a great looking fridge freezer. That I got. However, it has broken down 4 times. Each time it involves loosing food in it. An average of 10 days to get it repaired. I took an extra policy out with Homeserve for insurance repairs which is something you really do need with this freezer. It is not a great service though. You have to wait for a repair gent to actually turn up and then assess the problem. Send for a part if needed - another week and then wait for him to fit... (read more)

50's look with 50's technology. Freezer door seal lasted about 6 months so freezer constantly icing up( no auto defrost naturally). Can you buy a new door seal? no of course not you have to buy a replacement door at £400+ Now compressor for freezer has packed up which means it is not economic to repair and can gladlt be consigned to the skip only scores 1 star because of ease of use- you have to open a door! and style which I guess is what sucks the punters in. The seals do not touch the fridge all the way around as it shrinks in the top corner. Presuming this is what is causing the condensation. Had door replaced and the same thing happened. Reported it again and engineer did not turn up. Top shelf in freezer broke and screw holding it in fell out. The skin over the fridge is coming away slightly which I can live with but it shouldn't be coming away. Looks fantastic though but I am not convinced that this is the fridge that has been tested to... (read more)

I love the design of this fridge but it has not been without its stupid niggling problems.
After owning the fridge for a week or so we noticed condensation and decided to try and get to the bottom of it,
We tried not putting fruit and veg in there and making sure everything was sealed so moisture couldn't escape in to the fridge.
The condensation was still there ???
After examining the construction closely, we noticed The door was slightly crooked (variations in the hinges) and at the...

We got seduced by the good looks and paid well over the odds for what turns out to be a pretty poor fridge freezer. The compressor blew within 15 months. So far it has taken SMEG 3 visits and over a month and we are still without a freezer. Very poor product and very poor service. I would never recommend one of their products. Please don't waste your money. My last fridge freezer was a fraction of the price and was still going after 11 years. (read more)

Always breaking down - found out that smeg merely place the plastic 'overecoat' or retro panels onto a 'bog standard' fridge and then charge us a fortune for the thing!
Also found out that smeg have one of the worst service reliability/breakdown record of all the main manufacturers.
Keep away from their products!

Oh dear, years I waited to buy this retro fridge freezer and whilst it is beautiful to look at, it certainly scores very low on the actual working end. It over freezes even on minimum, it's not controllable, the doors dont close securely. A work of art in my kitchen but if I'd of known how poor the performance was I wouldn't have bought it. Customer service said that I had been unlucky with the Smeg FAB32 Fridge Freezer and offered to replace it for £600 which is still more than a normal fridge freezer. Don't be fooled by the look of the thing - it's expensive and badly made. Who wants the word 'SMEG' on your fridge door anyway? (read more)

I had read loads of bad reviews about the fab28 but my husband really wanted a fab30 or fab32 but this has sealed the deal we're definitely not getting a smeg fridge!
