We have had no end of problems since this boiler was installed and have not gone a winter without severe problems with heating, water or both. The boiler has been almost completely rebuilt with parts failing regularly. Do yourself a favour and avoid it like the plague!! (read more)

Good points: It's cheap Bad points: EVERYTHING!!! Only had this boiler 6 months and it's been nothing but trouble. BAXI helpline are no help. Boiler no longer fires and needs to be reset every time we want heat or hot water which only lasts an hour. Had a plumber look at it on no less than FOUR occasions. If I want to wash my baby's bottles or any dishes I have to boil 3 kettles to fill the sink as I can't leave the baby to go into the attic and reset it every hour! You may as well spend... Fitted this boiler along with a new central heating system, powerflushed and have not looked back. This system has been in over 9+ years and not a single problem over all this time. As a time served gas safe engineer I see bolier breakdowns everyday and generally speaking when there are problems it tends to be down to poor installation and poor maintenance which causes boilers to fail. As a consumer who knows nothing about boilers, they will blame the appliance and vow never to buy that... (read more)

This boiler was installed in our house before we moved in and has been utterly useless from the moment we switched it on. There have been numerous attempts to fix it, with a new circuit board and air pressure switch. It was thoroughly cleaned (not that it was in particularly bad condition) None of this has worked and I get a recurring fault which switches the whole system off about 2 minutes after you reset it. You can't get more than a kitchen sink full of hot water out of it without the... (read more)

Dont know whats with all the 1 stars i had mine installed in 2005 and it is still going strong not even had a service yet only one problem was the central heating and hot water kept cutting out in 2008 but that was due to a faulty PCB which was a common fault with the earlier ones as an electrician it was just a case of removing the old one and replacing with the new one only £50 for part. Temperature sensors on hot water tends to corrode over time but as there is one for hot water pipe and... (read more)

Please do not buy this boiler. Had mine installed in 2002, it started going wrong in 2003 and hasn't ceased causing me problems since then. Tomorrow, I will be having an engineer round for the 22nd time. Main problems are the pressure relief valve; collapsing pressure; myriad leaks (causing substantial damage to plasterwork, both internal and external) and the expansion vessel. I either got a Friday afternoon model or there is something inherently wrong with this brand of boiler. It has... (read more)

I had this fitted with a completly new central heating system over 7 years ago now. I have had this serviced every year and have only ever had problems with it in the first couple of years of it's life, (when i was covered by British gas boiler care). I love the idea of the water pre-heat function, which can easily be turned off when it is not required. I recently had a remote programmable thermostat linked to this system and my gas bill came down by £200 within a year. As with many other... (read more)

Short version: Avoid like the plague.
It seemed like a good idea at the time. I originally had two boilers, one for the hot water and one for the central heating. The pilot light on the hot water boiler kept going out, and the central heating boiler had been fitted by a complete cowboy in the mid 80s and was clearly on its last legs. The pump was going and there was evidence of a pipe leaking from corrosion. I was prepared to stump up the cash if it meant I could sort all... (read more)

Had the Baxi 105e fitted 2004. Registered the boiler & we were going to extend the guarantee after 1 year. Broke down completely after 1 year. Did not get a reminder as you normally do to extend the policy so we had to pay to get the repair completed as when we contacted them, they said they did not recieve the registration. now onto the 5th leak from the same location. This last repair lasted 7 days. I did ask if there was a fix as he said it is common on this model but he said no, just... (read more)

The Baxi Combi 105e boiler is absolutely appalling. Like some of your other reviewers I inherited this boiler with the house three years ago. We've had numerous problems over that time (at least once a month we have no hot water/central heating). If we go away for a few days in winter we have to leave the heating on continuously otherwise we are at risk of this thing not coming on via the timer due to it short circuiting. There is a continual loss of pressure, we've had two diaphragm... (read more)

Had the baxi boiler 105 and complete heating system installed in 2004,costing £4000, problems started a year later and the company had gone bust! i finally found a reliable local plumber who replace the split diaphram as i had no pressure, i had to have it replaced in a separate drum as its hours to fit and the boiler would need to be re-installed. We fitted our 105he after we had a new extension built. We felt it was time to replaced our old baxi back boiler that only went wrong once in 15 years.
The boiler was fitted 5 years ago and the only problem we have had to date is a split diaphram for the hot water. That cost £70 to replace including labour.
All in all, very satisfied with the boiler and also the service from the baxi heateam.

A terrible purchase! When it does work it is fine, but ... In the first year a localised thunderstorm apparently took out several Baxi boiler motherboards in our area - a known problem, according to our engineer. Subsequent to the (pathetic) one-year guarantee period, the boiler has intermittently stopped working. Three visits from the Baxi Heat Team and replacement of most of the insides eventually fixed the boiler for a month, before it failed again. Rather than simply accepting the... (read more)

No matter which boiler anyone selects, some would have a bad experience with a boiler.
As a service engineer I find the Baxi Combi 105's easy to work on and the parts cheaper than most other boilers.
Granted diaphragms will require replacing periodically and the odd pcb's are required, but other than that are generally trouble free. (read more)

I'm glad I've read other comments here as I thought I must be the only unlucky one!. Had the boiler about 3 years - gas consumption increased by 25% compared to old cylinder system. The last 12 months has been a nightmare. CH works intermittently for about 2-4 months and then falls over again- had different engineers out 5 times and each seem to be scratching their heads. Costing me a small fortune.

I seriously advice you DONT BUY a Baxi Combi 105e. Baxi customer support is poor and Baxi parts overpriced i think! To me the reason my plumber recommended this Boiler is because it is designed for EASY FITTING! It has a neat back plate design and basically the plumber plumbs in the back plate and just slots on the housing/gubbins. SIMPLE for him/ her but YOU HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT 24/7/ !!! Recommendation: DONT BUY IT ... BUY GERMAN OR ITALIAN INSTEAD! (read more)
