Good points: It's cheap Bad points: EVERYTHING!!! Only had this boiler 6 months and it's been nothing but trouble. BAXI helpline are no help. Boiler no longer fires and needs to be reset every time we want heat or hot water which only lasts an hour. Had a plumber look at it on no less than FOUR occasions. If I want to wash my baby's bottles or any dishes I have to boil 3 kettles to fill the sink as I can't leave the baby to go into the attic and reset it every hour! You may as well spend... Fitted this boiler along with a new central heating system, powerflushed and have not looked back. This system has been in over 9+ years and not a single problem over all this time. As a time served gas safe engineer I see bolier breakdowns everyday and generally speaking when there are problems it tends to be down to poor installation and poor maintenance which causes boilers to fail. As a consumer who knows nothing about boilers, they will blame the appliance and vow never to buy that... (read more)

This boiler was installed in our house before we moved in and has been utterly useless from the moment we switched it on. There have been numerous attempts to fix it, with a new circuit board and air pressure switch. It was thoroughly cleaned (not that it was in particularly bad condition) None of this has worked and I get a recurring fault which switches the whole system off about 2 minutes after you reset it. You can't get more than a kitchen sink full of hot water out of it without the... (read more)

Please do not buy this boiler. Had mine installed in 2002, it started going wrong in 2003 and hasn't ceased causing me problems since then. Tomorrow, I will be having an engineer round for the 22nd time. Short version: Avoid like the plague.
Longer version:
It seemed like a good idea at the time. I originally had two boilers, one for the hot water and one for the central heating. The pilot light on the hot water boiler kept going out, and the central heating boiler had been fitted by a complete cowboy in the mid 80s and was clearly on its last legs. The pump was going and there was evidence of a pipe leaking from corrosion. I was prepared to stump up the cash if it meant I could sort all...

The Baxi Combi 105e boiler is absolutely appalling. Like some of your other reviewers I inherited this boiler with the house three years ago. We've had numerous problems over that time (at least once a month we have no hot water/central heating). No matter which boiler anyone selects, some would have a bad experience with a boiler.
As a service engineer I find the Baxi Combi 105's easy to work on and the parts cheaper than most other boilers.
Granted diaphragms will require replacing periodically and the odd pcb's are required, but other than that are generally trouble free.

£170 to change dhw diaphram is too much, expansion vessel can be checked for failure or loss of air pressure before changing, that was perhaps not faulty as he is now looking at the plate heat exchanger.
Has the plumber checked the filling loop is not passing ?
I think you should get another opinion , I have been in the gas industry for forty one years and it sounds like some guess work here.

as qualified engineer, i would say you need a new domestic hotwater plate to plate heat exchanger, as it must have a hole insde which it is letting mains water into your heating system, explains why system pressure is at 3 bars...hope it helps
Written on: 19/09/2009
Do you have a water meter fitted as the non return valve on them can cause excess back pressure when the tap in turned off causing the plate heat ex to pin hole, this would require a mini expansion vessel on cold main. 170 for a diaphragm? hope he wore a mask and rode in on a horse cos thats robbery! considering the part is only £13 rarely does an expansion vessel need changing so loss of air seems more likely. i doubt you would be so annoyed if the Plumber had been honest, had a clue and charged a fair price!

I seriously advice you DONT BUY a Baxi Combi 105e. Baxi customer support is poor and Baxi parts overpriced i think! To me the reason my plumber recommended this Boiler is because it is designed for EASY FITTING! It has a neat back plate design and basically the plumber plumbs in the back plate and just slots on the housing/gubbins. SIMPLE for him/ her but YOU HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT 24/7/ !!!
