On my second machine in five months, it's great when it works, but a common fault appears to be suction fails when blocked by the slightest bit of animal hair (why is it called cat and dog?). AND it the cuts out automatically when it over heats. Believe me I constantly clear the filters, change bag and filters regularly and still this happens! The second machine has broken again. I have been told it must be returned to Meile for repair and they may charge me! So much for a two year warranty. Don't buy this product unless you want a great deal of hassle.

I have four rough collies this machine picks up the hair well. It is much more efficiant than my previous machine a Dyson animal. It convinced me when I gave my carpet its 4 monthly steam clean, the steam cleaner used to pick up a huge amount of dog hair on the brush whilst cleaning it, since using the miele a minimal amount of hair is picked up. My mark for the durability is because the Turbo brush has had to be replaced because the dog hair gets into the brush bearing supports and melts the nylon.I think the turbo brush needs to be redesigned. Perhaps miele will get the message when I keep phoning up for a new one under the warrenty which has now been extended for £30

Purchased this to replace a bagless machine which didnt work well. This one is easy to use and much more powerful - bags last quite a while and continues to pick up well.
Only con is that it is expensive compared to other makes, but hopefully will last longer.

I have an energy draining disability, so when I buy a labour saving appliance, that is exactly what I need it to do - save labour.
I bought the Miele after inheriting a long haired dog. I also have two cats.
It picks up their hair so easily that I can sit in my wheelchair and use it. The Turbo brush gets every bit of fur up. The suction is adjustable and there is an attachment to clean pet hair off curtains (don't ask!!). It is virtually silent in operation, is lightweight and easy to manoeuvre and has slots to 'park' the hose when not in use. The tools are stored under the cover and are easily accessible. There is a gauge showing how full the bag is so you know when it should be changed.
At first I went through bags frequently, but now that the carpets are hoovered thoroughly and regularly, a bag lasts ages.

Am so disappointed with this machine. Its double the amount that I usually spend on a hoover and its the least effective I have ever had. It doesnt seem to pick up the dog hairs and I have to go over and over the carpet to get them up. Its noisey and the bags seem to fill up instantly and cost a fortune (something I should have researched first). I have the machine constantly on the highest setting, how anyone can pick up anything on the lower ones is beyond me. I have asked Miele for advice and am still waiting 2 months down the line to get back to me - so have e mailed them again today for help. I wonder whether I just have a dud machine - but am seriously thinking of just (after 4 months) buying something else!!!

Really did not like this Miele TT5000 machine. It was very difficult to move around a room. Perhaps it would be better in a large house rather than a flat? Kept bumping into things and have chips out of the wooden doors now. The different adjustments just raised the noise level and/or sucked up the carpet rather than flowed over it. Hard work this one and my cat hated it!

Received my vacuum today, it really does do what other reviewers have said - the suction power is amazing, my carpets look really clean (and that's with 4 cats and a dog). It's a bit stronger than my Bosch Formula, which is a fabulous vacuum cleaner and which i wouldn't have changed if it hadn't been for owning a white cat who moults a lot!
It's slightly heavier than the Bosch, also on the Bosch there are two handles, one to carry it upright the other horizontal (so easy to lift when you're mid-vacuum) - the Miele only has one handle for carrying it upright - something I've got to get used to.
It's a good vacuum and if you have the money spare, then invest in one, but the Bosch Formula (for pets) is a VERY close contender and a lot cheaper.

Forget Dyson, Vax, Hoover, Electrolux and ilk, a better vacuum cleaner for tough household and pet hair you will not find at £165 - £200 anywhere! Trust me, save money then escape to the new world with your savings!

Have had a SEBO upright which has been faultless for 8 years so was very pleased that the Miele is such a strong performer. Excellent adjustable power coupled with effective turbo brush attachment has left my carpets spotless. Always been a problem removing sock fluff etc... from beige, tight pile carpet and this vacuum does that job effortlessly. Easy to use, store and move around. Bag/filter replacement is also easy and mess free. Completely satisfied with this product and hope it lasts as long as the SEBO!

This Miele TT5000 vacuum cleaner is better than our Dyson by a mile. The pet hair tool will lift the most stubborn dog hair.
