Good Points: As with the first season, yet more excellent storylines and glimpses of spy tradecraft. We also get more of an insight into the personal lives of the characters.
Bad Points: None at all.
General comments: Following on just seconds from the first season, we get more exceptional storylines from a writing team who seem to have found their feet.
Suffice it to say that Tom and Ellie are both in this series, and the storylines are even better. A warlord from the former Yugoslavia who intends to kill the Prime Minister, massive theft from the government, a military coup, suicide bombers (this series predates 2005), and a former CIA agent who comes after the head of the British Military all add to the brilliant storylines that are even better than the first season. We also get some interesting new characters, including GCHQ specialist Ruth Evershed, who has a brilliant on-screen relationship with Harry Pearce, the head of Section D.
The writing this time looks more at the private lives of Danny and Zoe, and their will-they-won't-they relationship. And, with Ellie deciding to bin Tom Quinn, he aquires a girlfriend who is less-than-balanced. And, in a twist which baffles me, Tom and London's senior CIA agent get into a relationship (this seems bizarre, but it makes more sense in season 3).
The cliffhanger this time is even more heart-stopping than the last - Tom seems to go mad and shoots Harry, before seeming to drown!
