Good Points: Excellent web-site, excellent product, excellent telephone customer service and of course excellent prices.

Bad Points: They didn't appear to have done anything with the frames I sent them and returned them to me without contacting me by phone or by email and they had no record of the frames arriving or being returned, so I thought they had been lost in the post.

General comments: Glasses Direct Prescription Glasses - What happened was that I live in Holland (recently moved out) and had a new frame and wanted lenses. GD don't post outside the UK. When you have frames, they normally send you a form to fill in with your details, which you then send in with the frames. For me, this would involve sending this form to a friend, who sends it to me, for me to then send it back with the frames to GD. So on the phone, I asked them to tell me what they needed to know (prescription, basically, plus instructions on what you want, plus a phone number so you can be contacted to pay). This I did. I sent the frames in... and received nothing for a month. I called several times - each time GD had no record of my frames. I assumed TNT had lost them. Then my friend - who they would have been sent to once done - finds them in her post! GD had in fact needed a signed disclaimer to process the frames - the customer support assistant I dealt with had apparently got the list of required information wrong. So, basically two things; one, customer support made a mistake. Okay, that happens, not a biggie. But no record of the frames arriving or being sent out? that is a biggie. What if GD had lost or broken the frames? I would have pursued TNT for a lost item claim, they have a process which takes 'no more than three months', they would eventually have told me they were delivered, and then what? I have to find the receipt (purchased six months ago and most of my stuff is still in storage!) and hopefully GD will refund me for my frames. That would mean a lot of hassle and how many months delay? It's been a month already. So not impressed. I think they need to do better.

I've worn glasses from the age of 9 (21 years, good lord) and I dread to think how much I and my parents have spent over the years paying extortionate high street opticians prices. Glasses Direct are, quite frankly, a godsend. I get half price specs from D & A because I get disposable contact lenses from them, but even with that discount my specs from Glasses Direct are half as much again. Brilliant, and I'm treating myself to prescription sunglasses too-not a luxury I often go in for, but ...
