“Great looks, flatters to deceive”

Written on: 10/11/2012

Echoing the majority of reviews. I had a well made old ugly Ebac for 10+ years that worked really well. My nice looking Ebac6100 has worked for just 2years 10months i.e. just out of warranty. It seems I was lucky - failure wasn't due to a leak but simly either control board or refrigerant. Either way I'm advised it's not a cost effective repair! Being keen to Buy British whenever sensible, I was about to give Ebac the benefit of the doubt. But then I read these reviews. Now there's no way! ... (read more)

"EBAC fails within warranty - Service denied"

We bought an EBAC 2650 E dehumidfier in March 2011! Well in a review you are supposed to start with something good. We have to admit the tank did not leak.
However this may be the only well made part of this machine. In November 2012 the dehumidifier failed completely. Being still within the warranty period we tried to get into contact with EBAC to find a solution. This turned out to be impossible: No response to calls or emails. Sheer ignorance instead.
So its not only poor manufacturing and an obvious lack of quality control but also a non existing service for after-sales problems.
May we therefore suggest: refrain from EBAC products.

“Poor manufacturing and lack of quality control”

I wish I'd found this site before I purchased. Bought in October 2011 my 6200 Blonde Oak worked fine for the first 3 months, then started to ice up and no longer extract any moisture from the air. I was told it was the pump and got the impression this was not unusual.

It went back for repair in March 2012, then again for the same fault in April. It was replaced for a new unit on the 3rd of May. This one leaked all over the floor (from underneath). It was replaced for another new unit on the...

“Woeful”

Written on: 24/04/2012

I can only echo the other reviews. I purchased this back in 2008 to replace a prem-i-air (non-compressor dessicant) dehumidifier that had broken down. At that time there weren’t many reviews of this machine and I couldn’t afford the Mitsubishi equivalent (extra £80) at the time, which was reviewed as class leading. It did look great, but that’s where it all went wrong. The performance of the machine was not great and the noise seemed excessive. As other reviewers have mentioned,... (read more)

“I'm having a very very different experience!”

Written on: 30/01/2012 by sheltie77 (1 review written)

The reviews on this site puzzle me and very nearly put me off buying Ebac at all. But sometimes, on the internet, reviews and reviewers are not what they seem. My experience is very different to the other reviewers here. When I was doing my research on which dehumidifier to buy, the reviews on this site left me wondering what on earth was going on. I had learned that Ebac had been known as producing superb quality dehumidifiers which went on working well for year after year and they were... (read more)

Thanks, We followed your advice and bought direct. great customer service. First machine was DOA and leaked all over the carpet also was very noisy. Replacment machine now beeb running for 36 hours and no water extraction at all. The coils are not getting cold and there is zero water in the bottom collection area. I fear this shall be going back. There are getting one more chance to deliver a workibng machine next wek and then stanbye for a massive blog and me reaquesting a full refund as not fit for purpose.

Second machine also failed to extract and the EBAC Customer service gave us a feull refund with no quibbles. I would recommend that people take the risk as the service is excellent, even if they sometines have QC isues with some machine

“Poor Quality”

Written on: 13/01/2012

Mine worked for 12 months but then has been back to the factory for repair three times in the last nine months. It has leaked. It has consistently failed to extract any water from the atmosphere. And it is now so noisy that we can hear it from any room in the house. Poor British workmanship and poor value - avoid. (read more)

“Falls way short of expectation and unreliable ”

Written on: 30/10/2011 by suaimhneas

I have owned and run older model ebac products for many years without problems and have recommended them to many people. On this basis I bought a 6200 and a powerpac in 2008 and both have failed in the first year and needed to be returned under warranty. The 6200 has now been returned twice for repair. The first time it was because it sounded so loud as if it was a vacumn cleaner on full bore. You could not leave it running in a house whilst you were in it. The second time flooded the floor... I have bought an Ebac 6100 direct from the manufacturer. The first unit failed to pump the water to the reservoir and was returned. A replacement unit was sent to replace the original one but after a month or so the pump failed again. However, I didn't realise that the water was leaking from underneath the unit through the carpet. Ebac have given me a full refund and in all fairness I have no criticism of the level of service given. I just can not recommend that anybody buy the 6100. (read more)

Written on: 16/11/2010 by Greecian (3 reviews written)

I bought an Ebac 6200 in 2007 and after a month or so it was exchanged by Ebac because of noise. The second unit has been back to them four times because of the same fault....it sounds like a worn out supermarket freezer! The unit is placed in the hallway of our 3 bedroom semi. We can't leave it on overnight because it is so noisy. At today's date (Nov 2010), it's now waiting to be returned a fifth time. It was fortunate I extended the warranty to five years. In November 2009, totally... (read more)

An update on my previous review for the Ebac 6200.

The unit has been returned to Ebac a further twice and has come back with precisely the same symptoms ie NOISE . Ebac have told me that it's normal compressor noise...the damn thing is droning!! In spite of there being some 9 months warranty left (out of 5 years) I have now given up. I have given to unit away to someone who is deaf and I am now going buy a Mitsubishi. DO NOT BUY AN EBAC 6200 UNLESS YOU ARE DEAF.

Worked fine for 3 years (just out of warranty), then compressor packed up. The cost of repair was £170. We have another dehumidifier of a cheaper make that has lasted 8 years with next to no maintenance, and cost only £160 for the whole machine. Sorry but I won't be buying Ebac again. (read more)

Written on: 03/10/2010

I hade a previous Ebac dehumidifier for over 10 years which gave excellent service, so when it finally failed I decided that Ebac would be my preferred manufacturer. What a mistake, the unit has been replaced twice, and had now totally failed, its very noisy, and does not live upto my pervious experience of Ebac products. The customer service from Ebac was very poor, I don't know what has happened to this market leader but it no longer holds the No1 position in the dehumidifier market in my... (read more)

Written on: 10/12/2009

This de-humidifier is expensive but I purchased it based on the name of Ebac, the fact it had two years guarantee, and that the company is UK based. Big mistake! Original one received was faulty on receipt and had clearly already been out to a customer before, item was therefore returned. Item replaced and admittedly worked well for six months (though it is not a quiet machine and has vibration issues that could have easily been resolved in the original design). However, have gone to use it... (read more)

Written on: 02/06/2008 by dme123 (1 review written)

I bought this Ebac 6200 out of a misguided desire to "Buy British", and have regretted it since. Poor fit and finish from day one, with the top hatch rattling a lot, the fan squealing and the compressor being noisy whenever it is running - on top of that it would squelch sometimes. After 3 months it stopped working and has since gone back twice for repair - fingers crossed it's finally sorted.

For a device aimed at home use the noise levels are unacceptable, and much higher than others I've... (read more)
