I have spent many holidays in Obergurgl and usually stay in B and B establishments but we decided to treat ourselves to a hotel this year as we not in the first flush of youth! We were extremely disappointed in the bedroom, have paid an extra £80 for a larger room - it was not much bigger than the normal B and B rooms we have encountered - and the extra space had a table and a chair and what appeared to be a bed-chair which fell to bits when I tried to sit on it. The balcony could just a ...

We stayed at the Deutschman hotel for Xmas week 06. To be fair to it these comments are therefore 12m out of date but I noticed that previous entries were even older!
Whilst there we discovered that the once famous family run hotel, which had had an excellent reputation, had recently been sold by the family to another concern, so perhaps our experience may be put down to teething problems, but I could never be persuaded to stay again to find out!
Firstly it is situated on the very edge of th ...

We stayed at the Hotel Deutschmann at the beginning of March and found it to be excellent.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the service could not have been better and the food was of a high standard - a 3 course meal, plus a salad buffet and a cheese board.

The hotel is situated right by the Festkogel Bahn, so you can get back to the hotel easily, either by skiing or getting the gondola.

The Deutschmann is a short stroll away from the town centre. For some, it might be a bi ...

We were a party of 10 from SE England. We were very pleased with the Hotel Deutschmann rooms and facilities as well as the food. Unfortunately during our stay (4th to 11th Feb 2006) Seven of us ended up with tummy upsets. We couldn't pin down the cause but it could have been water.

Hotel Deutschmann was absolute 100% Great no problems or anything. Most friendly people ever, its family run and they can't do enough for you. The location is supurb right next to the slopes. We also had the most snow in the whole of austria while we were there which added to this excellent holiday, great for kids of all ages.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Deutschmann and found the hotel was not up to its 4* standard. When we eventually got our food it was lukewarm/ cold especially the soup. Hardly any vegetables/potatoes etc. This was a Summer holiday and I doubt very much if the skiers were given this menu, but after spending whole days on the mountains one needed more substantial food than this. OK for the SAGA holidays but not for younger people. Front of house lacked atmosphere, reception staff very unsympa ...

I spent 10 days half board at the Hotel Deutschmann on a walking holiday in August 04 & found it to be one of the best family run hotels I have stayed at. The hotel was spotless & with new whirlpool& steam room to back up the sauna & fitness room the additional facilities were exceptional.
I had a single room which was perfectly adequate in size with an excellent bath & Shower with plenty of hot water. Cleaned daily the rooms were spotless
The food was of a very high standard & never had a rep ...

Myself and my 16 year old son stayed at the Deutschmann Hotel in January 2004. We found it to be an excellent hotel with really friendly helpful staff. The food was excellent and the facilities were also excellent.

Stayed at the Hotel Deutschmann in January 2004. Disappointed by small room where facilities were not as advertised. Food was mediocre, bar lacked atmosphere, front of house was unpleasant. People should note that Austrian star ratings are wildly over optimistic.
