Good Points: This motherboard is smooth plays all games with a good vid card and some ram. the thing is that you can put extras in your board and it runs very good. I have had this board since 8/27/03 and it still works like the first day.
Bad Points: The only bad point is that my sons pc went down so I gave him mine.
General comments: Very good board for the $$$

I bought the Asus A7V8X-MX to replace a cheap-o I've had that wouldn't start up when you press the power button until you reset it when it was running (Had VIA Chipset!). What I noticed was much better stability and more power!
Having an Asus board in your PC with a slow processor (1.6 AMD) is like having a Nova GTE Injection head on a 1.0 Litre Nova engine. It's not much faster, but you get smoother torque and a cleaner run over a Carburettor!

The Asus A7V8X-MX was cheap, and seems quite reliable but see above for bad points.

Everything runs really hot on the Asus A7V8X-MX! 56-65 C for CPU with no load, even chipset, memory chip and capacitors on the motherboard are hot! I think AMD doesn't have this model in the recommended list.
The first MB was getting hot and died in a year; good think this MB has 3 years warranty. I got the second one and everything is still running Hot! Make sure to get the best CPU fan and extra fan for your case! Good Power supply is a must!
ASUS charges $100 for advanced RMA until they g ...

The Asus A7V8X-MX is a good board for someone looking for Quality price and Features all in one, it has AGP 8X, Onboard LAN and 6 channel sound, it retails for about $120 Australian so it wont break the bank, a highly recommended motherboard for gamers or the average PC user
