Cheap & cheerfull. Easy to use but packed up after 16 months old. Siezed & smoking - poss fire hazzard. Hotpoint used to make quality goods, this is rubbish.

Hotpoint VTD00P worked well for 18 months then drive belt and rear bearing mount broke.

Bearing failed, replaced, then earth strap failed tripping the socket circuit. Door handle fell off, can't be bothered to buy any more parts for this Hotpoint VTD00P now. Now the drum scrapes against the chassis somewhere. I'm going to take the motor out and make a bench grinder out of it.

The chassis fills with drying dust, a real fire hazard so make sure you strip and clean the drier twice a year.

Cheap, but cheap for a reason.

The Hotpoint VTD00P is a very simple machine and low cost. Had the machine for three years now and it has moved house with us three times, no trouble, then the wife puts a rubberised mat in and it jams between the drum and door seal. Result one burnt through drive belt. No jockey wheel for the drive belt!!!!!
What were the designers thinking of.
Sharp edges on the side and back panels

My Hotpoint VTD00P belt snapped, rear drum bearing sheared, drum ruined, in 14 months.

Mine was replaced once under warranty in the 1st week and then packed up after 18 months with ceased bearings - the call out engineer (on the phone) said it wasn't worth calling him out, these things are notorious for breaking down and weren't worth fixing. when it was working the heater element would stay on and the drum would stop for minutes at a time causing it to overheat and bake the clothes. The fan blades grated against the casing making a horrific noise so we couldn't use it at night. ...

I have two VTD009 vented tumble dryers and they have both been replaced around 13/14 months old. 5 year free parts is useless when it is 89.00 call fee for a Hotpoint engineer to look at the machine. Hotpoint need to make this machine more reliable.

It is down the dump, don't waste you money on this product. It's expensive to run.

Waste of money - mine blew up last night. Has been burning clothes from the day I got it - Hotpoint were no help - they said nothing was wrong with machine. Clothes burnt my hands as I tried to remove them from machine. I had a Hotpoint dryer for 15 years and thought I'd stick with quality. How wrong I was, I will never buy Hotpoint again.

My Hotpoint VTD00P tumble dryer is useless. The drum becomes unstuck and the machine stops.
This has happened to me 3 times in 10 months. I have to wait up to 10 days for an engineer. They say they have to assess and repair a machine 3 times before they will replace it - of course, by then, my guarantee will have run out!
Even the Hotpoint engineer said it was a bad model!

I purchased this tumble dryer about 2 years ago and it has been a nightmare since the day it was delivered. The temperature in the machine is haywire and I had 2 engineers visits to it within the first few months (the first in the first week I had it). He assured me the machine was in perfect working order - so I took him at his word - after all .... he is the expert. There is a burning smell which comes from my cotton bedsheets and I am dubious as to what to dry in it for fear of ruining cloth ...

The Hotpoint VTD00P has been a nightmare from the day it was delivered. The temperature (even on low heat) causes a burning smell on my cotton bed sheets. I called an engineer out within a week of receiving the machine and he assured me the machine was in perfect working order - so I took him at his word. I bought this tumble dryer online from a reputable company. The door handle snapped off and I've just had a new door fitted today - switched it on and black smoke began to billow out of the mac ...

Wanted a 'branded' tumble dryer that did the job and very impressed. We paid £159.99 from our local retailer after trawling around the larger stores and took it home straight away (I needed it there and then) and would buy Hotpoint again.
