I brought the Hotpoint WF541 a few years ago after my 15 year old 2nd hand Zanussi retired. I thought the machine was a decent brand, good spec, simple to use and looked o.k. However, it's never been as good as the old machine. And then there was the lights! About five and a half years after owning it, all the lights started flashing on the front of the panel. I looked in the manual - a few different things mentioned about certain lights flashing to indicate problems, but nothing about all... (read more)

I bought my machine 6years ago with a 5yrs guarantee and I've had it fixed twice.. Now my warranty has expired and that same problem has happened again.. Where do I stand?!! Get new machine! Very unhelpful staff me member then called me stupid and my machine my problem. As my mum has had a machine for the last 15yrs(not hotpoint) I thought that was how long they lasted for..not a short 6years! Very unhappy will not use hotpoint again!! (read more)

Similar to other reviews, the front housing is also rusting on our machine. We've also just been told that the door latch needs replacing and also some internal "mother-board" or similar. Have had unit for 5yrs, but the rust has been apparent for at least half of that time. Not what you'd expect from a washing machine. You'd think that they would be built for a certain amount of contact with water... (read more)

We bought a silver Hotpoint Aquarius a little over 2 years ago and it has rust spots all over the front housing above the door. This looks awful and not what you would expect from a reputable company like Hotpoint. Although it is only cosmetic and does not stop the machine from functioning normally it is very unsightly. As the machine is out of warranty Hotpoint are unwilling to investigate (read more)

Bought this washing machine three months ago . Been using this machine daily with no problems until last week. The machine had washed the bedding and was spinning when there was a terrific bang. The glass door had smashed into the machine. The engineer said I must of had something in the machine - yes sheets how was that my fault. Has any one else has this happen???? (read more)

I have had this machine for just over 4 years and the bearings have gone which means it can't be repaired as we would have to buy a new drum. I had a Hotpoint machine previously which lasted over 10 years and thought it a good make. But how wrong I was. There is awful mould on the rubber round the drum and also I have noticed a bad smell like other reviewers. I still feel this is a new machine and am very angry to be forking out more money just after Christmas. Shame it says 'made in Great... (read more)

I hate this machine! It leaves my clothes dirty, unrinsed and sometimes with dry patches. Its all very well being ECO friendly but it lets minimal water into the drum so how can it clean my clothes? Utterly useless, I am now searching for a machine that will actually wash my clothes. (read more)

Smells like a sewer when washing & laundry never smells fresh. Door seal is covered in mould & gunk no matter what I do & retains water. Although the door is left open when not in use because it is still coming into contact with the seal it might as well be kept closed! (Have checked other brands & this does not happen) Judging by other reviews this is a common problem that has been going on for some time - come on Hotpoint - sort it out! Front cover(silver finish) is also going rusty. ... (read more)

Exactly the same as many other users have posted on here. I had to have the drum replaced 6 months ago. Then got the problem with the flashing lights, ive had to have 2 engineers out within a week, had the circuit board and motor replaced(which failed within 24 hours). Will definately not touch HOTPOINT again, and would advise everyone possible to stay well away from this machine!!! (read more)

Having only bought hotpoint appliances for the last 30 years, I am bitterly disappointed with this washing machine. The front panel started to rust within a year - Hotpoint said it was cosmetic and would do nothing about it. The rubber round the door is covered in mould which won't come off. There is a continuous build up of mould inside the soap drawer, regardless of how often I clean it. It does not wash properly. I can't wait to get rid of it. I won't be buying anything from hotpoint... (read more)

In common with other posters, same kind of experience - power board gone, with lights flashing and impossible to turn on the machine. Mould building up in the machine and smells of mildew, despite regular use. I have just been quoted '180 (I'm in Ireland) for a replacement power board and programming card, PLUS labour and callout charges. Needless to say, it's been poor value for money and I am going to dump this machine and buy a new (NOT a Hotpoint!) machine rather than throw good money... (read more)

Thank God I`m not alone! I bought this rubbish just over 2 years ago thinking if I pay a bit more for a so called good brand it would last me. What a joke! Apart from the fact that it didn`t wash properly and the clothes stank after a wash it has now broken down and due to the crafty manufacture of this appliance is now irrepairable unless I pay £200+. This is due to the drum being encased in a plastic mould that cannot be replaced. I`ll never buy a hotpoint again and definitely will not... (read more)

Owned Hotpoint Aquarius WF541 for approx 2 years and used daily. However has now broken down 3 times. Covered by purchased extended warranty called "What ever happens" from Currys. Two of us in the house with VERY low usage of this machine. Only a couple of loads once per week. Product lasted barely two years before electrics went and have had to call out an engineer. It's not that quiet and the rubber around the doors seems to grow mouldy, smelly and corrodes very quicky. It is very easy to use though and like the look and layout but almost certainly wouldn't recommend this or any other hotpoint product to anyone else.
I think next time I'll almost certainly spend a...

We have red flashing lights and no operational functions, have cleaned the filters and checked the pump etc myself but the problem still persists. Your review was very interesting as i am having similar problems, what did your engineer say the problem was and did it cost much to fix! Hotpoint have quoted £105 just to take a look at the machine, wondering if possible to fix it myself if I knew what all the flashing light actually meant! User manual absolutely useless.

After hearing a very loud bang after an even noisier spin than normal, then it dying on me yet again, have decided to stop throwing money at this machine. Have had a new motherboard, back of the drum replaced, and motor repaired and only had it two years, and yes, all problems after the guarantee ran out. We had another make previously and that machine lasted for 9 years and we only ever spent £40 on repairs, so going back to that make now. (read more)

We have had our hotpoint aquarius wf541p for just over two years, and until now we have not had problems with it, and its only broken know because i left coins in my trouser pocket and it made a hole in the plastic drum liner,., i have just stripped it down myself and found it preaty straight forward to dismantle, i have looked at spares sites for a replacement drum and can get one for £90 all in, (hotpointparts4u), so it should be ok for another year or so. After a 13 months water was pouring from the drum,we were just out of our guarantee hence no replacement!

I have had to clean the sump two times which has in the past resulted in solving water removal.

The Hotpoint WF541 Aquarius does a fair job of washing clothes though can smell still quite damp at times. Not the quitest of machines either so dont put it on if you want some sleep!
Major fault also with electrics - flashing lights and electric shocks from the outer frame!
You have to turn off at mains and on again to clear the flashing lights.
No engineer out though as would cost too much due to Hotpoint's rip off charges.

It's quick and easy to use with lots of programs to suit every day needs with variable temperature and spin speed. It also has the following buttons - mini load which is a half load option, a extra rinse, rinse hold, reduced creases which gives a more gentle wash and spin action and finally a wash enhance which is used for a more intensive wash i.e dirty or heavy soiled clothes. I found it just a little noisy when spinning but overall not too bad and could of done with a time indicator... (read more)

When it works, it does the business well. Have had engineers in 8 times over the 19 months I have had this product. Pumps, drum all changed, module changed 4 times, still having issues with the 2nd and 4th flashing lights despite clearing out my filter several times.
Next product WILL NOT be a Hotpoint. Extended warranty a must otherwise it will cost you dearly

Mine broke just over 3 months which meant I cant have my money back to buy a decent machine. The drum has gone and I only used the machine twice a week for 3 months.
