I have had my machine for 4 years, and it started rusting at the powder dispenser after about 18 months, it has now rusted all around drawer and at front of machine, unbeatable as l use washing tabs all of the time. Disgusted l chose this for the capacity and the fact it had steam refresh. Never again would chose any make bar this make in future

This machine is loud and has needed fixing 6 times, including the cracked concrete block fault! The tech support is slow and almost useless. I will in future stay away from anything Hotpoint, no matter how good the price, the quality of this product and the support backup from Hotpoint is so,so bad!

I'm doing this after reading all the negative reviews. I have not been a very good owner to this machine and it regularly gets used and abused without love, care and attention it should get. I'm not sure what everyone else is doing but mines indestructible. I have the first model that came out. The only thing that fell off was a rubber band that went round the dial. It's been a fab washer doing five of us and 2 dogs. I've done the half loads and full. I shove clothes that have been covered with diesel to cement and three school uniforms, every week. Never put a duvet in it but that's my choice I just buy new. I will be gutted when...if it dies. ;)

paid over 500 quid for this machine, its awful. The programmes are soo damn long the shirtest being 30 minutes on an 800 spin so you then have to respin taking an extra 16 minutes. If you dont do this they are extremely wet. The white washes are ridiculously long at around 2 hours plus. No rinse hold and rinse and spin option takes takes 49 minutes. Overall i am really disappointed.

Do not waste your money on this imposter and don't rely on'which' as as recommendation. The so called experts haven't a clue what they are talking about. I cancelled my subscription to that magazine after it recommended a John Lewis fridge freezer that turned out to be a Dud. Right lets get started on the 'Hotpoint' Aqualatis washing machine. What I disliked:- 1. Cycles are far too long. 2. When economy button is used spin cycle is compromised, in that there is no spin. 3. Soap detergent is left on clothes after wash 4. Even after following instructions of not overfilling drum clothes come out wrinkled and creased. What I liked:- 1.The machine is very quiet. 2.the machine is able to open midway during beginning of cycle to pop an item in if you've forgotten something. 3. The machine is good looking. 4. Easy to use Called Engineer as I have 2 months left on the 1year warranty and clothes were only being partly washed and leaving soap detergent residue on them. Engineer ran tests for over an hour and said there was nothing wrong. Couple of weeks later machine played up again doing the same thing. I'm not bothering to call again as I HATE this machine so much. Just saving the dough and waiting for it to completely stop working or until I've reached my cash target of purchasing another brand preferably German or American If I had known before that the cycles would be sooooooo long and take up soooooo much water I would not have purchased this piece of rubbish. Who were the people that destigned this? Who were they aiming at? Hotpoint/Indesit you will NEVER get my money ever again

Purchased this washing machine about 14 months ago. had to stop washing cycle as the machine was overheating and the smell of burning rubber was awful. not happy paying for an expensive machine to break down so quicky. hotpot -we'll they are just pushing their protection plan for £14.95 per month or £110 call out an engineer to fix the problem - which I have now discovered a common manufacturer problem with the aqualtis. not happy. looking into trading standards consumer rights even watchdog

I bought this machine as it was recommended by 'Which' but wish I hadn't. Just over a year, after purchase, the selector dial stopped working. I am now only able to wash clothes at 30 degrees! 'Which' should instantly stop recommending this machine. I think I'll return to a German made washing machine as they last decades.

Just had to pay an extra £65 to get full cover for an FO5 fault, something blocked so might not be a parts failure. Person on phone said it could be a child's sock or something like that. SO I just bought a washing machine for £475 so my 3 kids could have clean clothes and I am told that a child's sock can break it. Marvelous. The wonders of modern Hotpoint technology. Why did I bother. I now have to wait a week for the engineer to fix it. And it's only 3 months old....

Hotpoint used to be 'the' brand to have, however, this is not the case now! This is the 3rd Hotpoint machine I have had over the past 14 years (only because they had to keep replacing it on the insurance and I had to have Hotpoint) and have just bought a Samsung after refusing to pay any more insurance on this dog. The bearings have gone on this model a few times and the whole drum unit has to be replaced. The door holds water against the seal which then goes mouldy unless you wipe it with bleach. It stinks! I have never had a problem with this before and the drainage is fine in our house, it's a problem with the pump out on this machine. There are a few good points on this machine, you can stop it part way through a cycle which is handy when the kids discover they haven't in fact brought all their washing down. The 7.5kg load is great when you always have a lot of washing and the 30min quick wash is helpful when you need something in a hurry. All in all would I recommend a Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXD169PM, errr no!

We have encountered numerous problems. The dial stopped working at one point and as it was still under guarantee the manufactures sent out a technician. He admitted that this was a common fault and left another "spare" dial for future problems !!! The machine OFTEN will not finish a cycle. The timer will be stuck on 1minute and it will not spin. The product seemed to be good value at time of purchase but we have had to re-spin washes so often that it is becoming laborious. When you call the phone line to make a record of your purchase they put a lot of pressure on you to buy the extra guarantee. £70. The reason they put so much pressure is that you WILL need it !!!!! When it works it works well but if you lead a busy life you need to weigh up the hassle of phoning for a technician and having to run a programme again because it has not done what it is supposed to !!! i regret not spending more to get something that does what it says on the tin!

I totally agree with you. I purchased mine last May after my beloved 'Whirlpool' broke down and was put on the scrap heap as it was beyond repair.
I was very hesitant with Hotpoint as I've purchased items of theirs before I.e. Fridge freezer and then a larder fridge and they were frankly rubbish.
More than a few years later I bought this one as I was taken by the 11kg drum and the price £430 but since using it it's been a thorn in my side. The wash cycles are far too long. When the economy button is pressed the spin cycle is compromised, in that there is no spin. I don't overfill the drum or put too much detergent yet the clothes come out with particles of soap detergent on the clothes and are very creased.
An engineer came out a couple of weeks ago as the machine was now washing only part of the clothes, in that some of the clothes were bone dry and some wet after each cycle. Engineer stayed for over an hour testing and found nothing wrong as the machine started filling up properly only to do the same thing no soon afterward.
I'm thankful that I didn't take out any insurance on this rubbish and will NEVER purchase a Hotpoint product ever again. I'll stick to the German or American made ones.
The only plus side I found was that it is very quiet

Hotpoint Aqualtis washer dryer. Really disappointed with this machine. It was top of the range at the time and consequently very expensive. The cycle times are very long, although can be adjusted to shorter. There is no half load/quick wash capability. The minute wash and tumble dry does not wash properly. My main issue, however, is the way that it fades/damages fabrics. Two of my favourite dark tops have faded and have a strange fuzz of very short grey/white fibres on the surface. Colour on the edges of clothes wears quickly, so they look old and worn long before their time. Soft cottons come out with the surfaces slightly roughed up and no longer smooth. I used the dark fabrics cycle, so none of this surface damage and fading should have happened. I have read lots of reviews of this machine and no-one has mentioned this, so I wonder if it is just this one. However, it's a small complaint compared with other people's bad experiences with these Hotpoint(really Indesit) Aqualtis machines. My previous machine was a Hotpoint and I loved it to pieces, almost literally after 10 years and two children.

We got this machine as it was on offer, had it 2 weeks over the warranty period and it has started leaking and making our clothes smell of oil? I don't think we will waste any money on a repair. It's a shame that Hotpoint are not able to produce a quality product anymore. I think we will have to go looking for a German machine this weekend. The drum size is good and the wash was ok but would not recommend.

The salesman done a great job we bought the worst machine ever we had. Did'nt last 11months, give problems from 2nd day it arrived. As for warrenties/guaranties not worth the paper there written on. It will end up up costing more money. In my opinion this machine is over complicated and like us we just had to scrap it in less than a year

I have had my machine 10 months and have had nothing but trouble with it. I'm thinking of giving the service engineer a key he's here so regularly. What is the point of giving appointment slots when the engineer turns up nearly 2 hours after the end of the slot without even an apology. The latest problem with the door has been corrected but not I can't change the programme and don't want to wash everything on a 40 degree cycle for 1.58 - Would NEVER buy Hotpoint/Indesit again

I have owned mine for 1 year and 2 months exactly, when it went faulty, it snapped off ALL three of the paddles inside, not good when you have a family and small child to wash for, I contacted the shop where i bought it from, they contacted hotpoint who said they could not help as it is out of warranty by 6 weeks! they said that if ANYTHING comes loose in your washer you are responsible (how on earth do you predict when a button falls off?!) hotpoint wanted £120 just to send an engineer out, but were more interested in selling me another 1 year warranty for £168! I am now in the process of dismantling my £425 washing machine myself all because they can not fit a filter or catch of some sort between the inner and outer drum (which is plastic and sealed). My Zannusi washer that was replaced by the hotpoint was 15 years old, (and it was second hand when we got it) didn't miss a beat(it had washed coins and all sorts), this hotpoint is made to fail, and clearly not fit for purpose, as it has some serious design flaws.. DO NOT EVER,EVER,EVER buy one, you WILL live to regret it if you do! - be warned! I don't think they make them now - thank god - but may save someone making the same mistake as I did!

have owned this machine for approximately 3 years and is by far the worst purchase I have ever made. I am writing this now because I have just tried the tumble dryer again (don't do it very often as it dosen't work and never has) the washing comes out very hot and very creased, originally had the repair man out and he eventually told me that if I called them out again then I would be charged hence I haven't used the dryer for about 18 months !!!!!!! I do not feel the machine washes very well and yes I've had it repaired several times in the last 3 years. Unfortunately I cannot find anything good about this machine but ha ho I cannot afford another one. I do feel this machine shoukd be avoided unless they have greatly improved it over the last 3 years.

really quiet, nice big drum, good fast spin, doesnt jump around the room. had it almost 5 years and it started leakin not sure whats up with it but grrrrr need it fixed and soon what to do??

I bought this machine 2 years ago and it is always breaking down. The first time was just 5 months after purchase. I have had to pay out nearly £7 a month in insurance just to cover the repairs. The last person at Hotpoint I spoke to told me that it wasn't excessive for a machine to break down twice a year! I have never had this problem with any other machine I have had. I wish now I had kept my old machine which still worked but decided to invest in a new one as I have just retired and wanted to have one that would keep me going in retirement. What a wast of money. I am still trying to get them to replace it but if all else fails I will just have to buy a new one. My advice to anyone considering purchasing one of these is DON'T BOTHER.

I've had this machine for over 4 years and I absolutely love it. It has a huge range of options, you can open the door after setting it in motion - I always find random socks after the cycle has started. The child lock is great, the styling is lOvely and the spin works brilliantly. Mine is also quiet. I truly have no criticism so was really surprised to hear the views of others. Most odd.

I bought it as I have a family and this washing machine has a big drum and the advantage to stop midcycle and add or take stuff out. Also it is supposed to be SSSHHHH and the way it looks is great. As ours is in the kitchen next to the livingroom I thought this would be great. HOWEVER: * The soapdispenser front broke within weeks, but as it does not intervere with the looks and the functionality it was not replaced. I could replace it by buying a new one myself (??? why). * After a year the balance went off and a mechanic came out to fix it - no change. After mechanic number 3 finally opened the whole machine we found out the balance brick was broken completely and needed replacing. Half a year later a similar complaint, but this time the whole internal drum needed replacing. * Since then I called out a mechanic about every 3-4 months, mainly for excessive noise problems and once for the machine being blocked. The noise has never reduced and it's definately not a SSSHHHH machine anymore. * Blockage was according to the mechanic due to me not maintaining the machine properly as I was supposed to use salt crystals monthly and use a higher temperature cycle every week - I had to correct the man as I wash nappies at a higher temperature twice a week and have been using the salt monthly - so again this must be a machine fault! * I also had the problem that the rubber seal wore and is not covering the hard plastic hence shredding the clothes - this has been replaced twice now, but still regularly comes off All in all a stylish machine with good washing options and a big drum, but not quiet, needs regular call out as breaks down and shreds clothes if you don't check the machine regularly... all in all I would not buy it again as it has cost me double the money in extra insurances and repairs and a hell of a lot of annoyance...

Snap. Paid £170 for a virtual new same machine off Ebay in 2012. 8 years on, it's still as quiet as a mouse when spinning. Amazing features like 30 min cycle, steam cycle and delay timer are a godsend.
