We got this machine as it was on offer, had it 2 weeks over the warranty period and it has started leaking and making our clothes smell of oil? I don't think we will waste any money on a repair. It's a shame that Hotpoint are not able to produce a quality product anymore. I think we will have to go looking for a German machine this weekend. The drum size is good and the wash was ok but would not recommend. (read more)

The salesman done a great job we bought the worst machine ever we had. Did'nt last 11months, give problems from 2nd day it arrived. As for warrenties/guaranties not worth the paper there written on. It will end up up costing more money. In my opinion this machine is over complicated and like us we just had to scrap it in less than a year (read more)

I have had my machine 10 months and have had nothing but trouble with it. I'm thinking of giving the service engineer a key he's here so regularly. What is the point of giving appointment slots when the engineer turns up nearly 2 hours after the end of the slot without even an apology. The latest problem with the door has been corrected but not I can't change the programme and don't want to wash everything on a 40 degree cycle for 1.58 - Would NEVER buy Hotpoint/Indesit again (read more)

I have owned mine for 1 year and 2 months exactly, when it went faulty, it snapped off ALL three of the paddles inside, not good when you have a family and small child to wash for, I contacted the shop where i bought it from, they contacted hotpoint who said they could not help as it is out of warranty by 6 weeks! they said that if ANYTHING comes loose in your washer you are responsible (how on earth do you predict when a button falls off?!) hotpoint wanted £120 just to send an engineer... have owned this machine for approximately 3 years and is by far the worst purchase I have ever made. I am writing this now because I have just tried the tumble dryer again (don't do it very often as it dosen't work and never has) the washing comes out very hot and very creased, originally had the repair man out and he eventually told me that if I called them out again then I would be charged hence I haven't used the dryer for about 18 months !!!!!!! I bought this machine 2 years ago and it is always breaking down. The first time was just 5 months after purchase. I have had to pay out nearly £7 a month in insurance just to cover the repairs. The last person at Hotpoint I spoke to told me that it wasn't excessive for a machine to break down twice a year! I have never had this problem with any other machine I have had. I wish now I had kept my old machine which still worked but decided to invest in a new one as I have just retired and... (read more)

I've had this machine for over 4 years and I absolutely love it. It has a huge range of options, you can open the door after setting it in motion - I always find random socks after the cycle has started. The child lock is great, the styling is lOvely and the spin works brilliantly. Mine is also quiet. I truly have no criticism so was really surprised to hear the views of others. Most odd. (read more)

I bought it as I have a family and this washing machine has a big drum and the advantage to stop midcycle and add or take stuff out. Also it is supposed to be SSSHHHH and the way it looks is great. As ours is in the kitchen next to the livingroom I thought this would be great. HOWEVER: * The soapdispenser front broke within weeks, but as it does not intervere with the looks and the functionality it was not replaced. I could replace it by buying a new one myself (??? why). * After a year the... (read more)

At 6 weeks old the balancing stone split in half and water got into the electics it took Hotpoint 8 days to repair as they refused to replace the machine. 6 months later it needed another repair at less than two years old the second balancing stone split into 4 pieces. It is now in the skip where it belongs. It is the worst machine I have ever come across. A total waste of money, full of serious design faults. (read more)

Seemingly like many other users mine continually suffers from the plastic paddles snapping off. I've lost time of how many sets of replacement paddles I've ordered but shortly I'll have paid for the cost of the machine again! Whilst the machine is very easy to use and it accomodates a capacious load, the aforementioned design flaw really starts to diminish such benefits. For someone like me who wants simplicity when washing their clothes the operation of this machine is great. The digital... (read more)

I bought a Hotpoint Aquarius WMF 760G 10 days ago, and already one of the plastic paddles has snapped off. My worry is what happens to the broken plastic bits? Do they get under the drum and cause further faults.
I have to wait 5 days until an engineer visit. And yes - the Hotpoint service office were less than helpful.

At eight months old the heaters broke down and had to be replaced, which took 14 days. At one year and two days old, the bearings went, which meant the whole of the drum needed replacing. This machine suffers from some terrible design faults. The internal lifter paddles fall off regularly and when they do the load is torn. Hotpoint say this is due to clothes having buttons and zippers!!!!!! Surely then this makes it not fit for purpose. Also, the seal around the door pulls away from a hard plastic spike and unless you check that it is in place prior to each wash, again, you get a shredded load. The large capacity drum ought to be designed to take a large load and yet the... (read more)

Hotpoint USED to be British made and were good machines, but now they are Indesit owned they are terrible !! Had we realised they are Indesit we would NEVER have bought this machine. It is about 2 years old and so far have had to pay for 5 paddles, at £10 each. An expensive (for customer) design fault ! they should be metal and an integral part of the metal drum, not some 'added on' bit of plastic that keeps breaking.
As there are just two of us the machine is hardly overused and I am now considering getting rid and buying another make.

You would think the name would give you a clue - "washing" machine. But I was wrong, this machine doesn't wash. Clothes even come out with dry patches on them - never been touched by water. This machine is great looking and works a treat on my washing. Only downfall are the plastic paddles which break off - FREQUENTLY. Once they've broken once, you cannot physically put the new ones in unless you bend the metal tabs out of the way inside the drum, thus creating a weakness. However, to anyone that needs them, you can pick them up from espares.co.uk for £10.99 each.
