Good Points: Great for building up your basic skills from the MSF classes.Very economical on fuel. The heat from the engine warms up your lower calves in the cold early mornings.Easy to control.

Bad Points: After market parts can be a challenge to find.Finding a good reputable service station for maintenance can be a challenge.

General comments: All in all, the Buell Blast is the way to go for beginners and experienced. My neighbor is a police officer and he was happy on it. doing very tight donuts at less than 3 mph in front of the house.I use it to commute to work 40+ miles round trip and cut my fuel costs a lot. Instead of paying $160 a month on fuel for the car, I now spend $75 on fuel for the car and $14 on the motorcycle combined a month. I get money back into my wallet for other fun stuff. The gals in my office like the bike and call it "cute". I can live with that. The Buell Blast is a really fun bike, and it gets you around places.

I've had mine for 3 months, and have gone from zero experience to feeling really comfortable on local curves. In my mind, the Blast is the best bike to learn on without outgrowing it too quickly. My son has his eyes on mine already, so maybe I'll get a 650 to 750 next year....

Personally as a female owner of a sports bike I find this quite offensive.. "non intimidating looks", "bendable flashers", "cheap to fix if dropped".. I like fast sports bikes which go like mad and can't see how any bike can be gender specific.. I can ride anything I put my mind to.

The Harley motor and poor quality control ruin what could be a very good bike. High maintenence, lots of things break, due to high vibration. Very troublesome, needs a lot repairs. And dealing with your local Harley dealer is a real pain; they're so busy putting on aftermarket loud pipes and all sort of doo-dads.

As a new, female rider (5-6") I find this bike absolutely perfect! no complaints! It is so easy to manuever in all conditions. My opinion, you would only need something "more" for your ego, not for the ride. it is fast, easy on the eyes, and a "blast!" I give my bike 20-out of 10 stars! hope this helps if you are considering this make.

People who bad mouth the Buell Blast must not know anything about bikes if they don't like the blast. Not the most powerful but will get you there on time all the time. Uses rear tires a little faster than most but I live with that.

It seems to me that if someone needs a go-everywhere bike to use like a commuter car (to - from work, running errands, weekend drives out of town) then the Blast is perfect. It's the equivalent of a two-wheeled econo-car for usefulness, (but with that built-in Motorcycle Fun Factor.) If your Ego needs stoking, you might need to look a little further. I still anxiously await a test-ride on one, as I think it might of swayed me from paying an extra $2k for the Sportster. I'm happy with the Sporty, ...

I really love my Buell Blast. It's my first motorcycle and after a month and a half of practicing every day, I feel really comfortable on the roads now, with traffic and hilly curves and stop signs. Although the other reviews say it's light, the two times I've laid it down since I started, I couldn't lift it myself. Thank God there were people around to help me with it. I screwed up my left rear view mirror with those two lay downs and I'm finding it really hard to tighten it up. It seems t ...

All in all the bike is great. It is my first bike, and I haven't dropped it, and only came close when i didn't put the kick stand down all the way, but was able to stop it before it got too far down. The bike rides fine, I rode it about 150 miles from Austin to Victoria and had no problems. The engine doesn't have as much power as I would like, but I mainly use it for city driving and it will do 75 just fine. I was going up a steep grade with a 30 mile an hour head wind and had it pegged and cou ...

My wife, who just turned 50 (shhh) just completed the Rider's Edge course at our local Harley dealership. They use the Blast for trainers and since she felt comfortable with it, we decided to try and find a good used one for her first motorcycle. Well, an ex-employee at the dealer just happened to have an '03 for sale. It only had 400 miles on it and had some nice accessories: a full windshield and saddlebags (Buell parts). It is orange and looked brand new. I paid her a paltry $1500.00 for it. ...

I just purchased a 2003 Buell Blast that came out of service from the Harley Davidson Riders Edge course for new riders. The bike came with a warranty and only has 689 miles on it. It is a great starter bike for my wife who is only 5'2" and just finished the riders edge course. She loves it! It's easy to handle, looks nice and runs good, and I only paid just a hair over $3000. I'd recommend anyone looking for a starter bike for a new rider to speak to your local Harley Davidson dealer about the ...

I own 7 motorcycles and have been riding for over 30 years. I bought the
Buell Blast from a guy at work, who had let it sit in his garage for 2 years. So, I got it cheap. I like light, good handling motorcycles. That, is what the Blast is. Stock, it could easily keep up with all traffic. Quick off the line and a reasonable top speed. If you laid down on the tank, and gave it a long enough road, it would eventually get to 95 mph. It vibrates a lot, at low RPM, but if you let the engine rev, ...

I bought a Buell blast 9 months ago - I did see all of the negative posts on the web, but took a chance on the bike. First I would like to thank all you ' moaners' for bad mouthing a good motorbike. Due to the bad posts, I was able to buy a Blast with only 230 miles on it for a third of the new price. I ride my Blast every day on the mean streets of LA.

I had to fix the rocker cover oil leak - $36.00 for the Harley gasket kit (have to drop the engine to fix, or pay H. D. $150.00). I also ...

I just bought a used 2003 Buell, had about 410 miles, and I have since put about 400 more on it. It starts right up and runs great. It's fun to ride and being only 5'3, I love the low seat, I can easily put both feet flat on the ground. This bike is easy to handle and really a blast to ride. And at a cost of $3200.00, I am very satisfied.

I bought a brand new 2005 Buell blast about a month ago. It's been at the shop for two weeks out of that month. I had it for a week and a half before it broke down. The engine would not turn over, I put a battery charger on it for 2 days, and it still didn't work. They came and picked it up on the 12th of July, and the never called me, so finally I called them and they said the had to reset the timing system, and that they were waiting for a new timing cover, because they said, you can't use ...

This Buell Blast motorcycle is great all around from learning to ride and easy to drive through the city. Not too sure that I would want to take it on a cross country though? If by chance you end up dumping your bike there is a 99% chance that you can pick it up and ride it away. Cheap to replace parts. Gas miliage is outstanding and the safety handling due to its weight and six it provides stellar preformance. I would recommend this bike to anyone looking for a beater bike to and from work ...

The Buell Blast is a good compromise bike. Has enough power for commuting but light enough for average riders to handle in parking lots and storing in the garage. Does well in hilly terrain around curves and makes you look good at the DMV taking your motorcycle rider's test (you'll be the envy of the big bike crowd). Gets good gas mileage. Really fun to ride and handles great.

Hi all. I've spent the past month doing TONS of research on a motorcycle. So I wanted something cool, good handling, not too fast and not expensive to buy or operate. I found myself staring at the Buell Blast! It was all of the above and man I thought it was COOL! I saw a few websites had an awful lot of complaints on the earlier Blast! models. It seemed like there were no complaints from 2004-2005. Since the bike is essentially unchanged, I figured they had worked out the problems. I sho ...
