    Although this holiday had been booked nearly a year in advance, Shearings cancelled (due to low numbers) just a week before departure. It was a suprise holiday for my husband's birthday and they could only offer us a refund. No offer of compensation no aplogy letter, just a phone call. I would'nt recommend this company to anyone and would never consider travelling with them again.

    i thought of this as a cheapie holiday, that was before i went, it was fabulous. The whole package could not be faulted, the included tours were very good and the extra tours were not expensive, the whole experience has wetted my appetite for more of this kind of holiday. i am not new to travel as i have traveled a lot abroad and done many long haul holidays , but this rated among the best trips ive ever had.Next time i wont bother taking a packed lunch with me, i didnt fancy any of it when we s ...

    Guests are made to feel welcome here. The staff especially the young waiters work hard to make this a good experience. The sole cause for complaint is the heating system. The hotel is used by Shearings Holidays who carry alarge percentage of elderly people and the heating situation was areal problem for many people. If this could be corrected the result would be an excellent holiday at this late time of year.

    Malgrat de Mar is a horrible place packed with shops selling absolute rubbish.Hotel Monteplaya is passable but their menus although self service are for the most part diabolical-a good place to lose weight.Their policy of allocating a fixed dining table means you are stuck with who ever else has been allocated that table for the length of your stay.Whilst Shearings excursions are the best part of your stay it would have been advantageous to get more honest opinions of this place.I can confirm th ...

    HAD A LOVELY TIME IN MALROSE .THE ROOM WAS GREAT WE HAD A PREMEIR ROOM LOVELY SOFT BEDS. NEED TO GET STAFF MOTIVATED A BIT FASTER. OVER ALL A LOVELY TIME

    At peak times some of the rooms particularly on the higher floors do not have a supply of cold water. This results in red hot showers, no flushing of toilets etc. The management bring out a pre-printed notice saying that the engineer is lokking at the problem but they keep re-booking the rooms in question.

    Just had a 5 day break at the Imperial Hotel in Tenby. Hotel was really nice, good views etc. Food was excellent but slow service. One night we waited over 50 mins for our main course. Needs some organisation in the dining area. I.E. staff served anyone and everyone and no one!! One night we were served by 4 different waiters/waitresses.

    The New Southlands Hotel.
    Self Drive.

    We upgraded to a Premier room and like the refurbished common areas was clean, bright and comfortable.

    Reception was very helpful but the restaurant was a disaster. Although my customer information form identified I had Multiple Sclerosis and requested a table near the restaurant entrance this was a problem and we often had to wait for a table to be re-laid although required to book a time for the evening meal.

    Hotel in excellent location with generous grounds and seaviews. Paid a lot of money with Shearings Holidays to get a superior room upgrade. Not worth the money - though extra for seaview was! Very uncomfortable mattress - had to ask for topper. Posh - bigger TV as part of upgrade package never worked properly - fault in wiring so never able to watch our programmes and no offer to give us a replacement. So don't waste money on an upgrade or if you do make sure you get what you pay for. Everywhere ...

    Our proposed trip abroad was cancelled at the last minute. We had to go to a travel agent to book another trip and only still went with Shearings as they had our money! Isle of Bute excursions were disappointing and aimed at shopping whereas so many more interesting places we could have visited especially when we were taken to Ayr town centre and left.     Esplanade Hotel, Paignton
    Thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Paignton,the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful but the hotel itself needs a facelift and the bedroom we were in needed a good springclean. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, the back of the beds needed vacuuming and also underneath as there were sweet papers, peanuts and thick dust, this I discovered as dropped something on the floor and moved the bed.     we paid a load of money to come here for what!!!!!!!
    this not value for money

    the room was clean but we had visitor ie the cleaner left the door open
    3 times that a joke after seeing the manager a joke too it was still left
    open so please be careful.the shower we was small and had better days.
    the food was good ,service was fast and effect ,staff not bad
    the bar is a joke if you can find the barman/nightporter and rain came
    in too.it was quicker to go pub next door than wait for this bar man!

    We did not get to go there! Sadly with just 16 days tgo Shearings canceled the holiday we had booked 10 months before, sea vues, front seats, dog kenneling, door to door. The given excuse was that the coach was not full and it was not cost affective for them! We were told to book another date but having booked time off work and kenneling it was not an option nor were the other other almost fully booked alternatives offered. And so we asked for our money back, 7-10 days plus bank clearance...... ...

    Discribed as "a few days of pure luxury and indulgence", somewhat of a joke. Started off on a dirty coach which was not cleaned during the whole break. Hotel room was very nice, recently modernised, and hotel one would imagine was once very grand, although now seemed in places a little tired, however treated as second class citizen by some staff as we were on the "COACH PARTY".     What a thoroughly enjoyable holiday we had! Having read recent reviews about the Royal, Shearings hotel in Whitby, we were a little apprehensive about the food and condition of the hotel. We needn't have worried - we had a lovely big room on the first floor with floor to ceiling window, it was clean and comfortable. The food was excellent with lots of choice, beautifully presented and service was second to none.

    Have not been on a Shearings holiday yet, but have tried to book one 3 times at the price advertised none available without them trying to stick a supliment charge for something. phoned them to complain they said a supervisor would phone me back. but they did,nt. next day phoned them again and told them about the previous call, negative response to my complaint but the guy said if i can find soming i like phone him back and he will handle it himself. i take that as meaning we will get what we s ...

    This is our 3rd holiday this year with Shearings. We stayed at The Royal in Weymouth. Weather was excellent every day. We still find most of the trips out disappointing but now look on them as 'tasters' of places we would or would not return to at a later date. Why do we go with Shearings if we are critical you may ask. Well because we only take discounted holidays, would never pay the full brochure price.

    went to Shearings Holiday website to book a couple of nights B&B at the New Southlands Hotel, Scarborough. Given a Quote of £70 per person per stay (ppps), which made a total of £140. Clicked the 'Book' button and found myself in Coast & Country Hotels, with my requirements already listed there. Next window showed a premier room with a £40ppps supplement, which I did not want but could not proceed to the next page unless I ticked it. SO WHERE HAD MY £70 QUOTE GONE??? ...

    Stayed at Libertys on a girly weekend away!What a laugh was had by all!From arriving to going home we had a great time!The rooms were clean and service was excellent!Fourth time we have been and definately going again next year!
