Good Points: Excellent trade off between point and shoot and higher specification Diigtal SLR's- Suits people who know about photography in general, digital imaging and are capable of reading the instructions!

Bad Points: You do need to spend a little time learning how to get the best out of the camera before you will be satisfied with your purchase. This camera will not suit people who are technophobes or just want to point and shoot expecting a great result every time.

General comments: Very small powerful snapper- have some amazing pictures of wild life in the Canary Islands taken last week on Holiday. Luckily I know a little about cameras and digital imaging so it helps to get the camera set up properly for different types of shots, i.e through glass, portraits & moving images etc. The Olympus FE230 responds very well to these functions which are easy to use once you have learned to navigate around the simple setting wheel. Another great feature is the built in "help" function- if you are not sure what to do for a certain shot read the "tip" first and then practice. I am not saying that you will get a perfect picture every time, first time but with some basic common sense, patience and practice you should be able to achieve above average results quite quickly. Obviously with type of camera (as with others) if you don't like the picture you have just taken delete it! Consider buying a 1GB HD card it will hold over 1000 pics at a standard setting SQ1 and over 500 on the HQ setting- goodness knows how many it will hold on the lower resolution settings! With this in mind be sure to select the correct image quality for the type of shot you want to take particularly in low light situations. The higher the resolution selected the better your results will be.

The Olympus FE-230 is not worth the money, it has now decreased by £30 and mine has broken twice and sent back to olmpus, they';ve repaired twice and i'm still stuck with it!
