I bought my Vitamix around 8 years ago and use it regularly for smoothies, grinding nuts and making soup etc. I am careful not to zap up the speed too quickly or leave it on high for too long as the motor starts to smell a little. I'm not too bothered by this....I had an old Kenwood mixer which did this and stupidly I did'nt heed the warning and blew the motor ! You do have to be careful, remember it has a hugely powerful motor and yes it CAN overheat. Use it with moderation and it's an... (read more)

I have owned the Vitamix TNC since august 2008.The motor has just packed up. This is after years of lightest use, to put it mildly. Apparently I only had a three year warranty. The cost of repair is uneconomic. A life of five years for such an expensive item borders on a breach of the UK Sales of Goods legislation but that leaves me having to sue them. I won't bother but I am posting this as a warning to other consumers. I would never buy a Vitamix anything again (read more)

We bought the Vitamix 5000 because the sales pitch was true and fantastic. We use it about 2-3 times a week to help make smooth soups and fruit smoothies. You really can cut down on preparing the food because, for example, you can put in the entire apple. It is so powerful it simply cuts through the fibre and you don't taste it! It is expensive at £425, but your costs are recouped with making your own healthy food. It's also very easy to clean - just whizz with hot water and a little washing... (read more)

I ordered a Vitamix for my diabetic girlfriend so we could increse the amount of raw food we ate. Having done a great deal of research on the web it come down to the Vitamix or the Blendtec, and I took the plunge with the Vitamix. What a bad decision! To anyone thinking of buying this piece of over-priced cr@p, think again! These guys are very good at taking your money, but beware as it'll take ages for it to be delivered (and they'll charge you £47 for the privilege). If you've got a... (read more)

I bought yje Vitamix 5000 after owning a second hand Blendtec. Neither one can turn all nuts or seeds into a flour.
Found "The Bass -O- Matic Incarnate" review highly entertaing. If he's not a book writer, he should be. He's right though. Never beilive the hype. In the end, it's just a blender and you're paying for the marketing. My experience from the internet is that nothing is what it seems. Blog writers will blog about whatever pays the best. Companies often troll forums and Youtube to...

I use my VitaMix Super 5000 blender every day and class it as my most indispensible piece of kitchen electrics - in addition to my water distiller. It is very powerful, should last a lifetime, is incredibly easy to use and to clean and blends to satin smooth in less than a minute. No-one I know who has one would live without one. Everyone questions its price until they use it. After use, there is no looking back! (read more)

Does a good job but the negatives out weight the positives, i would like to see vitamix improve the aftercare service, reduce the cost of spares and improve the durability of the machine overall. If they managed that you would have one hell of a machine! (read more)

I found this review not helpful because... it just doesn't add up.
It totally contradicts the numerous reviews I have read about this product - they all say the Vitamix is very robust.
I agree that the spares are very expensive (I don't think I will ever want any) but the Vitamix I am buying has a 7 year warranty.

So this is a review of the poor customer service not the machine itself then.
