We purchased this fridge 3 years ago and have had problems in the last 12 months. It is by far the noisiest fridge I have ever known but in the last year it has stopped working on numerous occasions. Each time we have only realised this when opening the fridge and realising the light wasn't on and the temperature soon plummets afterwards. I checked the plug first assuming it was a fuse issue and when I replaced the fuse and plugged it in the fridge came back to life. Fast forward 1 hour,... (read more)

My mother bought this a couple of years ago. It is soooooo noisey when the door is closed - a fan inside sounds like a jet engine taking off and clicks on/off every 30 minutes or so. Most other frostfree's rarely cycle this internal fan, so why does this happen on Hotpoint? She asked me to find another to buy, as this rubbish keeps her awake at night (upstairs and you can still hear it!) Wouldn't bother calling out Hotpoint out - just look at their reputation on these reviews and others. (read more)

I DECIDED TO LOOK UP THE FIRM ON THE INTERNET TO ASK WHY my F.F IS SO NOISY AND LO AND BEHOLD EVERYONE WAS COMPLAINING- I REALLY HAVE NO OTHER COMPLAINTS I actually thought there was something BADLY wrong with IT-OBVIOUSLY NOT! (read more)

Since buying this poor excuse for a fridge freezer, we have had nothing but problems with. The last 'fix' required a circuit board. The 'engineer' from Hotpont manged to fit the wrong one so had to come back to fix it properly. It's now gone again so into the skip with it. My question is why on earth does a basic fridge freezer need a circuit board? It does nothing more than any other fridge freezer that I've owned. The thermostat is all that's required. Obviously the circuit board is to... (read more)

Warning - fridge stops working , which really means you need to switch it off and defrost the freezer. Not good for a frost-free freezer. And boy is it noisy. It sounds like someone using a power tool to take tiles off a wall. (read more)

Bought from a local trusted supplier but this is a mistake. The constant compressor/fan noise with the door shut is very intrusive. The refrigerator part has just stopped cooling. apparently because something in the freezer may be iced up! What a crazy, illogical control system. (read more)

I bought this fridge freezer as it was recommended by my local electrical shop. I was looking for another brand but they said they were having reliability problems with that brand since they had transferred production from Germany to Poland so recommended the Hotpoint Future Frost Free FF175B. Thirteen months from new, it was warmer in the fridge than in my kitchen. I rang Hotpoint and they sold me an expensive extended warranty, the technician duly arrived and left it worse than it had been... (read more)

If this is an American made product...we need to get out our wallets because we are sure going to need to bail them out. But this product is probably only distributed to poor people. No one in their right mind would purchase this product. This product is maybe only sold to poor people.I am poor and I dislike it very much. The landlord provided it as a replacement for the real frig I use to have in the apartment. I am sure the landlord does not own a hotpoint anything! If someone gives you a... (read more)

Model is a Hotpoint FF175B
WE have owned this fridge freezer for 14 months now, and i get the impression the timer in the back has just past the "out of warranty position" and it just clicked into Problems position, on a more serious note, this appliance is a disgrace to Hotpoint, we moved into our new house as first time buyers with very little to fork out for kitchen equipment and appliances, but we thought we would invest in what Which magazine had listed as a good buy, economical and...

Nightmare is an understatement. do not buy this product unless you wish to defrost every 6 weeks, put up with warm food, ice cream like whipped cream and warm milk on your cereal!! have insurance with domestic and general which is useless too! waiting for an engineer coming for the 3rd time to have another guess as to what the problem is. they seem to be happy to play russian roulette with my familys health. have had this problem for 6 months now. given up hope on it ever getting fixed... The Hotpoint FF175B is very poorly designed. Freezer draws don't open far enough, so it's fiddly getting food in and out. As mentioned by other reviewers, it's very noisy. Circulation fan is louder than the compressor. It is also unreliable. Only 2 years old and now waiting for the 3rd visit from Hotpoint to repair fault. Love the look of it, but would definately avoid. Very disappointed. (read more)

The Hotpoint FF175B fridge freezer is exceptionally noisey and will keep you awake at night if situated below your bedroom. Apart from this it works well. I would not have bought it had I known how noisey it is! (read more)

The Hotpoint FF175B has some useful features, eg ice cube trays that fit in the freezer box fronts. But the fact that the compressor was failing from the word go (48 hours to freeze bread!) and that it failed completely 2 weeks after purchase really let it down. Wouldn't buy Hotpoint again, or would I buy anything from COMET as customer service very poor (read more)

I bitterly regret having bought this Hotpoint FF175B.
We have had this fridge freezer for one week only and it is driving us to distraction. We had no idea of the awful noises that would plague us day and night (humming, clicking) at an alarming frequency. I called an engineer who indicated that there is nothing wrong with the cooling system, according to him frost free technology means that fridge freezers are now a lot noiser. I am sure that this appliance is exceptionally noisy and I...

Our Hotpoint FF175B fridge isn't cold but the freezer is working fine. Spoke to Hotpoint service and they want £110.00 call out. Spoke to a local repairer who said switch it off for 24 hours and defrost the freezer and it should work fine. Why couldn't Hotpoint tell us that? Our 1 year warranty expired in July 2008 and now this happens after 16 months. (read more)

same issue with my Hotpoint FF175B as previous reviewer... the compressor seems to kick in an awful lot and it's pretty noisy. I get the same 'ping pong ball noise as well. If I'd known it was going to be this noisy I'd have got a different one. (read more)

I took delivery of this Hotpoint FF175B fridge freezer yesterday. Aye, it looks good and suits my requirements re size, but the noise it makes when I presume the compressor has kicked in is driving me bananas! As it nears the end of the cooling process there is a clicking sound which I can only describe as being like a ping-pong ball bouncing around inside the workings at the back of the machine. I'd like to know if any other buyers have noticed the same thing? Hopefully my ears will... (read more)

Our Hotpoint FF175B fridge/freezer began giving problems after 18 months. In the past six weeks we have had four calls by Hotpoint engineers for repair to the fridge/freezer. Each time the engineer has assured us that the fault was rectified and each time it has worked for up to a week (sometimes less).
Today the engineer has had to contact Hotpoint help line and has been told to order a part which will not be available for another week. In the meantime, we are throwing away good food or...

Looks good. I bought this brand mostly because of my previous experience of Hotpoint products. I think this must be a big mistake by allowing this inferior fridge freezer on the market. Fridge fails constantly due to build up of ice from the freezer. Must be defrosted on a regular basis. (read more)

Same problem with my one. I defrosted it every four months for two years and have finally given up and got myself a new fridge freezer. I will never buy another Hotpoint appliance again!
