Have always had Indesits but wouldnever have another. The IDL 530 never worked properly from day one. Called a service engineer and he said it was my fault - I wasn't using the right rinse aid or some other rubbish. He said there was nothing wrong with it and if I called the service out again there would be a charge. I should have sent it back to John Lewis there and then but I'd never had any problems with Indesit machines before and thought it would settle down. Fat chance! I have had most of the problems other people have reported: tablets get stuck in the drawer, get stuck on the crockery and not dissolved properly, grit and food particles stuck all over the glasses and plates, you have to press the start button a random number of times to get it to start at all, sometimes it has a fit and two of the three lights start flashing together so that you have to switch it off at the wall, leave it and switch it on again to get it to go. And I've never been able to get the spray arms off to clean them... is this even possible?

I bought the indesit idl 530 as our first dishwasher. My friend said you'll not believe how clean glasses come out when you have a dishwasher...alas this never happened!! It's been rubbish from day one & I probably should have complained straight away but I didn't really know what to expect at first & it was hit & miss when we first used it. We can only use the fairy liquid tablets as the finish ones never dissolved but know even they get stuck in the dispenser or on the dishes at the front. I dread opening the door when it's finished & turn the air blue most days when I notice the tablet all over the dishes. We rinse everything so much it's almost pointless using it but still they come out dirty, sometimes dirtier than they went in! We clean filters, run hot cycles have replaced parts. Nothing makes a difference so today I ordered a hotpoint dishwasher with great reviews & will be throwing this piece of rubbish out.

We have had this dishwasher for a long while and I'll be honest it wasn't great at first and is gradually getting worse. It was cheap and it is cheaply made and poor. I have to put cups in two or three times and end up having to bleach them to get tea stains out after one use. The short 25 minute wash doesn't do a thing and neither does the eco or time for you (which seems to take about 4 hours to do absolutely nothing!). I use Finish tablets, salt and rinse aid and still glasses come out cloudy, food and grit is in cups and still on plates. I regularly clean the difficult to access filters and to be honest am just waiting for this to pack up before I buy a Zanussi like I had before. Sadly, I can't recommend Indesit at all.

I have had owned dishwashers which have a use of at least once a day, for a family of 4 - 5 and had great use out of all of them in the past. This Indesit IDL 530 one just does not clean - I went back to using separate salt, rinse aid and wash tablets rather than the all in one tablets, as the plates and glasses on whatever rack came out with grit stuck all over them. This has not helped however. We wash the filters out every time, and have taken to understacking the load even leaving a gap between plates in case they dont get enough water between them, and to rinsing off the plates to a point it is not worth putting them in and still things come out covered in grit, or unwashed. The filters do not all fit together properly, they dont click in place, and I would guess this is partly the problem. The rods that turn around to flush water on both trays are considerably wobbly and not very sturdy this could be another problem. You want clean crockery etc, that is why you buy a dish washer - you dont get clean crockery etc. We did call service out twice and they came and looked and fiddled a bit, mentioned washing out filters, which we do after every wash, and basically no difference what so ever. We are moving shortly and leaving it behind - i will have to buy another one, but the family is all going its separate ways and instead of arguing over who wants it, we are quite happy to disown it. Lastly, the cycles take forever, and if you have to pause it for any reason, it goes back to the beginning in some instances!

Bought the Indesit IDL 530 (I think the IDL means 'idle' because that is what the machine is. Idle!)
The 'A' rating means cheap to run only because it doesn't work properly and sometimes does not dry anything.
The upper spray bar has broken twice (jet holes shatter) and now it doesn't wash or rinse properly, meaning items taken out have residue of the wash over them.
Recap:
1) Does not wash properly
2) Does not rinse at all now (filters are clean!)
3) Spray bar does not last long on top
4) Does not always dry anything (not even heating up!)
5) Upper spray bar does not always rotate even though not jammed with anything
6) Utensil basket doesn't last long
7) Heater destroys some items on the bottom WHEN it works
8) Have to wash same items two or three times so now just had wash them
We have decided to throw it away and have ordered a Bosch. The IDL530 is the worst dishwasher we have ever owned and we will never buy Indesit again.

This dishwasher (IDL 530)was given to us by a friend, i can see why now. shortly after getting it (she had it only 2 months from new) the dishes were not being cleaned properly, we cleaned all the arms etc and it started working fine again. then it happened again only weeks later, this time cleaning the arms made no difference! Now the dishewasher does not drain at all, the inside is going mouldy as a result. I've just googled how to fix it and to be honest after reading the reviews on it i think i will save my money and scrap it and buy a decent one, rather then throwing my money away on short term fixes!! waste of money do not buy!

By far the worst dishwasher I have ever owned. This was given to us as a gift by family, who then bought one for themselves, and we both hate it.
You'd be better off spending your money on 200 bottles of washing up liquid.
It doesn't clean very well. Nearly every load has to go through twice in order for the items to be close to clean.
The cycles take far too long, which considering you run them twice means an entire evening is taken up with one load of pots.
And it is very loud.
Can't wait till the kids are old enough to wash up, as they can do a much better job and will be a lot quieter and cheaper.

Bought the dishwasher 2 years ago and from the offset the on/off switch stuck. Also the programming seemed erratic and wouldn't always start at the beginning or drain away. Now it has stoppped heating up the water and drying the dishes! Called Indesit who offered to send an engineer for £105!!
Cheap tat- don't purchase if you want reliability. From reading the reviews 2 years seems to be about the extent of their shelf life.

Have had this Indesit IDL 530 machine 18 months - was OK at first, but now does not clean the top rack properly. Have tried cleaning it and adjusting it - all to no avail. I am now looking to cut my losses and buy a new one, but it won't be an Indesit!

I am VERY disappointed with this Indesit IDL 530. It looks good.
My previous dishwasher was also an Indesit, it was 12 years old and still working exceptionally well, the only reason to change was it was looking a little tatty.
1. circuit board went after 13 months
2. Does not dry dishes when finished
3. top drawer does not slot into water pickup point correctly
4. cutlery holder falls apart too easily
5. does not rinse very well
6. generally the clean quality is very poor

Wouldn't buy one of these Indesit IDL 530 again, mainly because of the poor utensil basket, which breaks easily when silverware is dropped in and results in the lower arm jamming. Exposed heater element melted some plasticware when it fell through the basket.
Dishes aren't dry after end of wash, you'll have to open the door to let out all the steam.

What is it with the green flashing lights? I personally hate this machine.....at first it was fine, then wouldn't rinse properly and now the flashing lights!
Is there no hope for it?

Tends to leak all over the floor on some occasions - not all the time. It waits until we think it won't leak, then whoosh ... bubbles and water all over the floor. Nice looker, but I'd select an alternative as it tends to leak in a BIG way...

If you load large items in the dishwasher, that are putting pressure on the door, they can cause the door to be slightly pushed at the bottom, and this can lead to leaking. Leaks on the floor with the machine still working, are coming from the door. The machine has flood protection micro switch underneath, and leaks from components such as pump or hoses will trigger the switch and turn the machine off.

When this Indesit IDL 530 dishwasher was first delivered there was a problem plugging it in and therefore the engineer left without testing it. When I tried to use it it was faulty with the lights flashing on the display to indicate the problem. I had a plumber out twice thinking that it was the installation that was incorrect but in the the end it turned out that the dishwasher just didn't work. It then sat in my kitchen for three weeks before a new one arrived. I have had the new one for 15 months and it has now broken again. The same lights are flashing indicating the same problem as in the last dishwasher. Having contacted Indesit I have been told that as my guarantee is up (only a mere three months ago) I would have to pay £150 for an extended warranty - the appliance only cost just over £200. Or I could pay £90 call out and the labour charges (parts are guaranteed for five years).
Even though this dishwasher was reasonably cheap, I cannot say it was good value for money as it doesn't actually work. Indesit obviously have no problem with their goods only having a lifespan of just over a year. I would not recommend this dishwasher to anyone.

Just made the mistake of buying an Indesit DIF 04 6 days ago. Followed instructions or washes, correct amount of salt fill, and finish tablets. It has pretty much not washed anything at all properly, like ours it has left grit and food particles on the dishes, regardless of the cycle I used. Tried to return it to retailer today under Sales of Goods Act but he is digging his heels in. So ready for long battle as am not prepared to put up with this shoddy dishwasher hitch won't wash!
