I went to First Response car finance as a direct result of reading reviews on here!

I sent them an application on saturday evening (after trading hours) so didn't expect to hear from them till monday. In my impatience I then called them on Monday morning to be told that I had been declined for the amount I had requested but they would refine the application and get back to me within an hour with a credit limit.

True to their word, 40mins later I got a text message from my rep with a credit limit of £4000 (which was enough to get the kind of car I wanted but would have to look carefully, I originally applied for 7500) and a condition that my deposit must be a minimum of £300.

So I went in search of a car and another rep called with names of all the dealers in my area that already have an association with first response. I found a car with a dealer that they didn't have an association with so my rep called the dealer this morning and arrange a sizeable discount on the advertised price (£500 off!) and have even allowed me to pay a smaller deposit than agreed too.

There were of course the regular proofs required, I have misplaced the paper part of my driving licence and regularly lose/throw away my bank statements, this was not a problem at all as I was able to send a downloaded copy of my online bank transaction history and gave permission to DVLA to speak to first response so they could confirm my licence details. All I need to do now is take a utility bill and my passport (proof of signature) to the dealer tomorrow and as soon as the dealer sends the documents all I have to do is call my rep and she will see to it that they are checked immediately and I can drive away without any fuss or hanging around.

All in all an excellent service, I could have collected the car today if it hadn't been for me being a little unwell, but I shall be collecting my new car tomorrow with payments within my budget and only 2.5 years to pay for it, I will definately be using first response when I am ready to replace this car!!!

I am on my second car through First Response Finance. The first time I made contact was thorugh a car that I saw on a forecourt and the dealer acted like a broker. When they called me and went through the details of the car, the operator stated that the price being charged was high and recommended that I didn't purchase! She carried on through the application and told me how much I could spend on a car that meant I could easily afford the repayments. The initial rate was high, but we don't have ...

I got finance for my car back in 2002 from First Response Finance. The APR was high (38%), but the payments were affordable. Since then I have paid off the first loan and taken out a new one. The APR has dropped to 28%, and I could go and find the car I wanted. They do an HPI check on the car, and they even check the value so you don't get ripped off by shady dealers. Once you find the car you want, there are a few hoops to jump through (fax wage slips, proof of address, etc.), but the dealer ge ...
