I have a car on finance with first response and must say they are very very helpfull never ever had a single problem with first response and would defintly recommend them to others!!! I have really bad credit due to being a fool in the past but am now working full time on a very good wage and first response have given me the chance to drive around in a nice car that I can afford to pay at a good price!! I can say i payed every week and I never had any problem like that what is good but there are some things to think about. Company's like this are legalized robbers there take advantage of people with no money and bad credit my problems. I run a small business and needed a Van asap. I didn't have the best Credit Rating but found a Van and First Reponse sorted out the finance. To my shock the monthly payments were really cheap and they are a very happy, friendly and helpful company to deal with. Hello, I bought a car from a garage in West Sussex nearly 2 years ago whom used this company. I have had no issues at all with the car (chose to go for a small car with low mileage just to get to work) I have had no issues or contact with this company (except DD) as I have paid my monthly payments on time which end next December. I was financed for a car in 2010 the car had to be taken to a garage in the 1st week of having it to be repaired also 3 weeks after having it was taken back to dealer because headgasket went they told me 1 week later it had been done but ever since have had problems with it and just had a independent inspection done and am told it has not been repaired. I have complained to first response time and time again but basically been fobbed off they are not bothered about you they just want money... (read more)

OK, you bought a lemon. Why is this a problem that First Response Finance should sort out. They provide the finance for the car, they do not sell you the car.

I recently bought a car through first response, who explained my credit limit and everything, so the dealership works through them. APR high, due to my credit score, but must say they were extremely helpful finance over 36 months, not like ACF for 60 months! the veichle I have bought has service history,and a good buy. very pleased and would definatly use again. p (read more)

very poor company, they make things up and when you pull them up on it they have to go speak to a manager and come back with a poor excuse. If you are slightly clued up they don't want your buisness they only want people that know nothing and can be stiched up for lots of money. Been with First Response for 8 years now, nearly always found them to be helpful and polite until now. Phoned them today with a look at refinancing to change my car. I asked them for a settlement figure and they said £2040 which equates to a £140 rebate over the remaining 16 months even though they are charging 33% APR. The lady I spoke to was very abrupt. So I will be looking at all options to get away from them. (read more)

This company is poor and only interested in taking your money. I applied for car finance and never heard anything back, I'm assuming the rubbish they told about being specialists in dealing with people with bad credit wasn't exactly what they made out. I explained my full situation and was assured they would be able to do something, I didn't want them applying for credit if it wasn't realistic. I sent them an application on saturday evening (after trading hours) so didn't expect to hear from them till monday. In my impatience I then called them on Monday morning to be told that I had been declined for the amount I had requested but they would refine the application and get back to me within an hour with a credit limit.

I am on my second car through First Response Finance. The first time I made contact was thorugh a car that I saw on a forecourt and the dealer acted like a broker. When they called me and went through the details of the car, the operator stated that the price being charged was high and recommended that I didn't purchase! I got finance for my car back in 2002 from First Response Finance. The APR was high (38%), but the payments were affordable. Since then I have paid off the first loan and taken out a new one. The APR has dropped to 28%, and I could go and find the car I wanted. They do an HPI check on the car, and they even check the value so you don't get ripped off by shady dealers. I found this review very helpful because...there are a lot of bad and aweful reviews on loan companies, but First Response appear fine from what I have read, A car Dealer actually recommended them. so, I will be contacting them shortly

We're on our second car loan through First Response. Very helpful and courteous towards us. We'll be going back to them shortly when this loan ends with a view to buying another car through them. It's just a pity that not all dealers/garages are as helpful. One garage we approached recently refused to approach them on our behalf even though we explained that we had used them twice before. We would recommend anyone with a less than perfect credit history to give them a try as they are not there to judge, just to help you get on the road!

Sounds more like you have a problem with car finance than this company themselves. All car finance if you write ti off be it £5k or £50k, if you dont have insurance covered, you still have to pay the loan.
This is why they offer a payment protection, if the car dies completely you dont have to pay the remainder of the loan. Also.. you can get out of the loan half way through if you're not happy.
For those who need a car now but have no savings, its worth it.
