Onto my second car after I broke my heart when my first manual 04 drowned in a flood. Now have an 07 gear-tronic. One time I drove my last car for 12 hours from the South of France while towing a caravan. I was still comfortable when I arrived at the next site.Any journey seams that much quicker due to the pleasure of driving this car. Even the Honda salesman said when I was test driving a diesel Accord to go for the Volvo S60, and forget the VW Passat which I was looking at too! I service... (read more)

We've just moved onto our second S60, the first a D5 SE (163bhp) was purchased at 60k and ran till 152k and its eventual sale. NOTHING in 10 years has broken on the vehicle. The clutch was replaced at 140k as expected, just recently there was signs of wear in the turbo, so without hesitation we sought and found another identical model with the upgrade package. This time the (185bhp) engine is ever so slightly less economical, but certainly has much more torque. The power seat with memory is... (read more)

I've driven two BMW 3-series for the past six years and, ignoring the hype, they really are superb cars. But the BMW has one big flaw - the wide transmission tunnel means you sit slightly angled to the right, which I believe was the main cause of my bad back. I mention this because it's important if you're thinking of buying one. So I wanted a comfortable car more than anything and while not over-enamoured by the styling of the Volvo the consistant word that came up in the reviews... (read more)

On my second s60 d5 after 4 saab 9000s. This is the logical next car from there. I have recently driven NEW Mondeo, Pasatt and Avensis deisels and I have to say it is always a relief to get back in the Volvo. Quiet, smooth .flexable and a pleasure to drive. BARGAIN car!!! (read more)

I am a high milage driver (45K per year) and I bought this S60 D5 Sport with 55K on the clock. Now it is just over 141K miles and not a single issue. It get's plenty of fast motorway use mostly and really is a hard car to beat as an all rounder. The 163BHP D5 engine is bullet proof, a little gruff at some rev ranges but totally do-able and very quiet at cruising speeds. Extremely comfortable, not much room in the back seats or boot but OK. Great seats, great stereo and decent handling for a... (read more)

I have had a Volvo S60 for 7 years, its stunning and the fuel is shocking 46 mpg. The only thing i would wath out for is lots of blacke smoke from the rear thats a new rad and intercooler they are not cheap around 650 for the lot and fitting. Tyres are sound but wath the turning as on 17/18 rims can cause rubbing on the wheel arch then new tyres. (read more)

Great all in all package, impressive performance, bought my Volvo S60 a year ago and done 25000 miles, still enjoying the drive. What all the fuss about handling? It handles beautifully for such a big car. does 600 miles for full tank (70 litre). I had many cars in my life, was never convinced with one like this great D5 auto engined. Last thing; acceleration on the motorways is a pleasure. It is better than german rivals as an all-rounder, taking into consideration value for money. (read more)

I have a Volvo S60 D5, it is great on juice, it's a very good performing car all round, it's not slow at all, and value for money you cant go wrong! Best car ever for the money you cant go wrong, you could go out there and spend your money on a more expensive car, but you will regret it when it breaks down on the motorway and a Volvo goes past you! The Volvo S60 is an honest good value car and great all rounder, ticks most of the boxes for a classy family car and with good fuel economy, had many cars in my time and this Volvo is my general favourite. Bought a brand new SE D5 diesel a few years back on a 05 plate and done nearly 90K miles in 2 years with very little trouble, got fed up and changed for someting else, since then I have had a Peugeot 407 a Saab 95 and a MG Rover ZT and they where all really rubbish and have decided to buy... I have bought many cars in my time, some good and also the rubbish ones, so when I recently bought my Volvo S60 D5 SE on a 07 plate it has to be said that this Car exceeds my expectations by a mile, and yes I will sit proud at the traffic lights as others look on in admiration.
Great car. Fantastic engine, smooth, dynamic and not thirsty at all, especially on long journeys, average consumption around 7 litres, even less on motorway. Excellent comfort, very cosy interior, good quality stereo,... (read more)

Bought my 1st Volvo s60 d5 when it was 2 years old. I have it 2 years now. No lack of power in any gear. Excels on long runs delivering OK economy about 40mpg. Really comfortable although difficult to get the right heat setting on the climate control. The auto wipers have a mind of their own too. I prefer to turn off the STC (stability and traction control) to experience the full power and it feels more like a hot hatch on full acceleration. Engine grunt 1st attracted me but has now got a... I've just upgraded from an S40 1.8 petrol SE 1998, which was a lovely car.
Now it isn't a lovely car, my S60 D5 SE auto, 02 plate is a lovely car.
Night and day, pure power, 38 mpg in town, I've had the trip meter reading 70 mpg plus on motorway, so comfortable, outstanding sound system. I've done my homework on parts: shop around to get them cheaper!. But my family experience in Volvo's is they don't break, so enjoy this car! I must be honest, descent tyres will cost you, but hey they are... (read more)

I have had an S60 D5 SE for a year now. I had it chipped up to 200bhp and much more torque and now it clearly suprises other road users. Good comfort for long diatance (driver only-see above). I average 43mpg for a mix of country and motorway driving. (read more)

Volvo S60 D5 SE:
Having been in the motor trade for too many years to remember as a main dealer and retailer of used cars as well, I have personally owned and ran literally scores of cars of all sorts. More recently my wife and I have both ran Mercedes but, compared to the earlier models, these now seem to me to be not so good value for money and leave much to be desired in the reliability and quality control departments !!
I have recently decided that enough is enough and returned to my... (read more)

This is my third Volvo, 850 estate and the last one was a Volvo S60 2.0t.
This car is not up to standard, the diesel is noisey, and the fuel economy on motorway journeys, does not come up to expectations at 36/37 per gal.
Climate control, cannot make its mind up what temp to supply.
Have had to have a new rear screen because the heater interfeard with the radio.
Drivers seat base has been replaced twice in 35000 miles as it dropped 2 inches.
In short, what have volvo done? Give me back my... (read more)

I have never had, nor wanted, a diesel before. This Volvo S60 D5 SE car is not only a fine diesel, its a great car. The perforance is strong with overtaking excellent and the growl of the engine makes you want to press on. Geartronic auto gearbox has clutchless manual option, which is fun. I tried the other petrol S60's and I prefer this on normal day to day driving. Also at 40mpg + even when driving it hard you never need to worry about fuel costs again.
Is this car better than the bigger... (read more)

I have had this Volvo S60 D5 SE executive car now for 18 months. It has never ever let me down or been into the garage execpt for servicing. I use it as an Ambulance Response car. It is fitted with Blue lights and a siren. It is a Diesel Automatic. It goes like a bat out of heel. The steering is very precise. The brakes stop me on a sixpence. The Volvo S60 D5 SE is a delight to drive responsive and very fast for diesel. Replaced a ST200 and I think the Volvo is faster. The ergonomics are on par with a BMW, everything is at your finger tips. We have just had a new baby and the boot space is great pushchairs etc. The car is also strikingly good looking low slung and wide. The car I have is Black and when its cleaned it really is a head turner. You also couldn't get a safer car more safety features than you could explain (read more)
