Good Points: Great car. Fantastic engine, smooth, dynamic and not thirsty at all, especially on long journeys. Excellent comfort, very cosy interior, good quality stereo, low interior noise.
Bad Points: High Insurance group.
General comments: I have bought many cars in my time, some good and also the rubbish ones, so when I recently bought my Volvo S60 D5 SE on a 07 plate it has to be said that this Car exceeds my expectations by a mile, and yes I will sit proud at the traffic lights as others look on in admiration.
Great car. Fantastic engine, smooth, dynamic and not thirsty at all, especially on long journeys, average consumption around 7 litres, even less on motorway. Excellent comfort, very cosy interior, good quality stereo, low interior noise.
I'd like to say well done Volvo. I laugh at my mates with their overpriced German equivalents, with inflated running costs and egos, well built and very reliable. I love every second of driving it.

Bought my 1st Volvo s60 d5 when it was 2 years old. I have it 2 years now. No lack of power in any gear. Excels on long runs delivering OK economy about 40mpg. Really comfortable although difficult to get the right heat setting on the climate control. The auto wipers have a mind of their own too. I prefer to turn off the STC (stability and traction control) to experience the full power and it feels more like a hot hatch on full acceleration. Engine grunt 1st attracted me but has now got a bit ti ...

I had a BMW 5 series before and the Volvo S60 is more comfortable, better equipped and more economical than the 5 series. It also has a fantastic stereo system.

Superb car, fuel economy is fantastic and they perform very well (more so when re-mapped). Sport leather seats are nicer than most sofas!
Attractive, good value for the spec.

The volvo S60 D5 SE is very nice to drive and so comfortable. The engine is superb and gives off a nice grunt when I pick up speed. In my opinion the handling isnt to good at higher speeds but more than makes up for it with everything else.

I've just upgraded from an S40 1.8 petrol SE 1998, which was a lovely car.
Now it isn't a lovely car, my S60 D5 SE auto, 02 plate is a lovely car.
Night and day, pure power, 38 mpg in town, I've had the trip meter reading 70 mpg plus on motorway, so comfortable, outstanding sound system. I've done my homework on parts: shop around to get them cheaper!. But my family experience in Volvo's is they don't break, so enjoy this car! I must be honest, descent tyres will cost you, but hey they are 17i ...

A good alternative to the German Brigade offering more style, more equipment, a 5 cylinder engine; all at less cost

The Volvo S60 D5 SE is a good vehicle that is spoiled with the turning circle. The engine tends to be a little noisy.

I have had an S60 D5 SE for a year now. I had it chipped up to 200bhp and much more torque and now it clearly suprises other road users. Good comfort for long diatance (driver only-see above). I average 43mpg for a mix of country and motorway driving.

Volvo S60 D5 SE:
Having been in the motor trade for too many years to remember as a main dealer and retailer of used cars as well, I have personally owned and ran literally scores of cars of all sorts. More recently my wife and I have both ran Mercedes but, compared to the earlier models, these now seem to me to be not so good value for money and leave much to be desired in the reliability and quality control departments !!
I have recently decided that enough is enough and returned to my old ...

This is my third Volvo, 850 estate and the last one was a Volvo S60 2.0t.
This car is not up to standard, the diesel is noisey, and the fuel economy on motorway journeys, does not come up to expectations at 36/37 per gal.
Climate control, cannot make its mind up what temp to supply.
Have had to have a new rear screen because the heater interfeard with the radio.
Drivers seat base has been replaced twice in 35000 miles as it dropped 2 inches.
In short, what have volvo done? Give me bac ...

Servicing has been kind and courteous.
But, it appears that the transmission on my Volvo S60 sedan is defective.

I have never had, nor wanted, a diesel before. This Volvo S60 D5 SE car is not only a fine diesel, its a great car. The perforance is strong with overtaking excellent and the growl of the engine makes you want to press on. Geartronic auto gearbox has clutchless manual option, which is fun. I tried the other petrol S60's and I prefer this on normal day to day driving. Also at 40mpg + even when driving it hard you never need to worry about fuel costs again.
Is this car better than the bigger G ...

I have had this Volvo S60 D5 SE executive car now for 18 months. It has never ever let me down or been into the garage execpt for servicing. I use it as an Ambulance Response car. It is fitted with Blue lights and a siren. It is a Diesel Automatic. It goes like a bat out of heel. The steering is very precise. The brakes stop me on a sixpence. The power from standing start is out of this world and the car sticks to the road like glue. The boot is huge. It carrys all my medical equipment defib and ...

The Volvo S60 D5 SE is a delight to drive responsive and very fast for diesel. Replaced a ST200 and I think the Volvo is faster. The ergonomics are on par with a BMW, everything is at your finger tips. We have just had a new baby and the boot space is great pushchairs etc. The car is also strikingly good looking low slung and wide. The car I have is Black and when its cleaned it really is a head turner. You also couldn't get a safer car more safety features than you could explain
