I bought 3 "B" Grade models in 2004 to fit out 3 flats I'd just bought. Flats have had tenants throughout and have only had problems when one tenant twice blocked the filter. Fixed it myself. One machine has just failed - still washes but does not dry. I never buy service agreements, so this has been very cheap to run so far. Indesit now want £124.99 for a one off repair, or £179.88 for a 1 year warranty. Will probably buy another "B" Grade. My experience - very happy with Indesit. (read more)

My Indesit WD12x came with my new build flat and I have had repeated problems with it in the past 4 years and now have to replave it. I had to pay approx £100 for a repair 2 years ago and now the pressure switch has gone. It is noisy and doesnt clean well and clearly not value for money. Wont be buying again! (read more)

I bought an Indesit WD12s (silver version)8 years ago and in that time it has gone wrong twice, both times with a faulty solenoid valve. This is when the machine constantly fills up with water, even when it's unplugged. Fortunately the first time this happened it was still in its warranty period and the second time I bought the part myself and replaced it. I think the part was about 13 pounds. So it hasn't really cost me a lot.
The machine washes fine, but the drying is not the greatest....

This should have been class action lawsuit fodder. It crashes often, has gone ON FIRE in the dry cycle, failed door handle, switches, safety mechanisms, you name it, it's failed or just waiting to fail.
I have an Indesit dishwasher also, which has had components fail many times.
When it costs £20 for a replacement on off switch, I don't bother and just solder the wires or clunk in a generic £1 switch. Ugly, but these things are ugly inside already ;)
Don't buy any Indesit products unless you...

Crappy cheap, poor quality spring to mind!
If your renting a flat and it has one of these WD12 Indesit machines, your Land lord is a money grabbing Slum Lord!
My machine does work but the drum inside is tiny, it does not dry clothes very well and the handle has snapped off twice!
These are about £24.99 to replace in parts alone and a NIGHTMARE to fit evan if your quite good at DIY.
Spend more and get allot more back in return. You will certainly save money in the long run and get a much...

I bought one of these 5 yrs ago for a holiday let. It has NEVER worked !! The engineer has been out 3 or 4 times, replaced the circuit board twice and the knob still spins around. It has been the worst purchase I have ever made, absolutely useless - don't buy one, don't even let someone give you one of these machines you will only have to take it out again and dispose of it !! Had this washer for 1 year and 2 months and it has broken down 5 times. the main circut board keeps breaking down. its now out of warranty and have been told to scrap it. when the machine was working it sounded like nasa was launching a rocket in the kichen and would never set it away before going to bed, just so my street could sleep. the clothes came out dirtier than what they went in, and had to dry clothes 2 times everytime due to dryer not doing job the first time. would of been quicker... Don't ever buy this machine - in fact I cannot recommend Indesit at all. Buy a quality-brand, no-frills machine - you will get far better value for money that way. I've had 8 of these Indesit WD12 machines in rental properties - with five machines failed! Often multiple times each machine. Spinning dial. Door won't open. Etc. Certainly never buy one second hand. (read more)

This Indesit WD12 was newly installed when I moved in. It is now just 3 years old, perhaps 200 washes.
Spinning knob problem. (Plus, it is indeed very noisy when spinning.)
The service people checked it 3 times in the past 3 months, each time taking out the main circuit board, drying it with a hair dryer, putting it back in. It then worked for another 1 or 2 times. (Fortunately, since this is a recurring problem, they charged me only once so far.)

After just over a year the bearings went. After 5 years the main circuit board died - and we were advised to scrap the machine.
The repair man told use we were very luck to have got 5 years out of the Indesit WD12 with so few problems. It is known as 'the flasher' because of its problems. The circuit board is known for going because it doesn't like vibration or condensation (great for a washer dryer).

The Indesit WD12 was purchased just over a year ago and since then has had the main module replaced 4 times, Yes 4. Just last week I had the engineer out again for what I thought was the same problem and he said it was the heat sensor which cost me £69.98, he let me off the cost of the part £4,95! This bill covered his time plus £10 tax!, Since last week I have used it once and it has now gone faulty AGAIN. I would not recommend these machines to anyone - I have had nothing but trouble and... When we first bought the Indesit WD12 washing machine we thought the spin cycle was very loud, as it was like a jumbo jet taking off. Also, there were knocking noises. We phoned Indesit who said it was normal! This happened again not long after the warranty had passed. Indesit were no use and wanted to charge huge fees, so we called an independent company (no call out charge) who said the drum was on it's last legs (apparently a common fault). He advised us to keep using it until it finally... (read more)

Nothing but problems so far. Indesit WD12 on and off button isn't fixed strong enough as a result depresses itself all the way in. You have to take the top off the machine to push this back out, far from ideal especially on an integrated machine.
Randomly fails on wash cycles, dial just keeps spinning and you have to turn off the power and start over again, very annoying if your part way through a long wash cycle.
Leaks from the water inlet so much that's its unusable. Had the thing four...

Had this Indesit WD12 for 18 months now - no problems at all (apart from occasional failure to stop at end of dry cycle; Mains spikes maybe?).
When bought new, we paid for the extended warranty (5years) as it was going to be heavily used - so far it has not been needed - the last machine (Hoover Washer dryer - failed twice within 12 month warranty period then the drum failed (£130!)at 15months - so we scrapped it)
So comparatively - this is great.

We had problems with the Indesit WD12 within the first year, part-way through the wash cycle the machine stopped and the program dial clicked round and round. You then needed to turn it off for fifteen minutes in order to rescue your washing. This was fixed under warranty, but didn't inspire confidence.
We've now had the machine for 18 months, and the problem is back. In addition, the dryer has stopped working. It makes the right noises but clothes come out of it cold and wet.

My Indesit WD12 is one month out of warranty and the drier motor has seized, common fault apparantly and it will cost £160 to repair. Our repair man who we know says Indesit in general and these machines in particular are a waste of money, invest in Bosch, Whirlpool, LG etc. These are cheap and you get exactly what you pay for! In the long term they work out far more expensive. Hotpoint are the same company now and they're rubbish too. (read more)

I have a WD10 (1000 rpm model) and the dryer motor seized too, a tip for anybody else is to remove the top of the machine (2 screws at the rear) then remove the torx screws holding down the aluminium heater housing. Clean the fan now and again which will be full of fluff.
<br>If the heater has stopped working, it will be the thermal cut-off which is the removable wire with the middle clamped to the housing this is designed to stop the unit overheating if the fan is seized, and they are about £3.

It was eventually replaced with another unit which itself broke down one week outside the warranty period . Hi! We too suffer from same problem as you, though much less frequently. Turns out, as I read this morning in the manual, that turning the machine on/off does NOT reset the machine. It says to do that you have to advance the dial to any of the black dots that mark the end of a full wash cycle, and leave it there for at least 5 seconds. Nothing else will reset the machine. Hope this can help reduce your suffering!
