“Delay in application due to a technical fault of theirs”

I applied for a mortgage in November, they replied with a decision in principle within a week which was very efficient. Unfortunately I was outbid and the offer lapsed after three months. At the end of this three months I found another house which I was successful in placing a bid under the asssurance that a mortgage application would be again swiftly accepted. Hi, I don't usually write reviews but after seeing so many negative ones, I thought I would share my positive experience. As a FTB I wasn't sure what to expect from Nationwide after reading all the negative reviews, however in just 2 weeks including the New Year bank holiday they processed my application and issued me with a formal mortgage offer. “Takes way too long”

I received "mortgage in principle" on the 27th of November 2015. Today is 15th of December, and only yesterday I was asked to send some additional documents. Why does it take so long for someone to check the documents? This is taking way too long, and I am loosing confidence in Nationwide. We have applied on 7th Dec 15 and we sill don't have offer yet 27th Jan 16 ... It takes way to long... They keep asking for 1 documents at a time and I am getting annoyed now :(

I have been waiting for 4 months. Everytime i ring its we will be back in touch either end of play, next 24 or next 48 hours. They have had the same paperwork sent to them numerous times. They are the worse Company i have ever dealt with and still today i am waiting for my Mortgage offer which they promised a week last Monday

“Frustrating and incompetent”

The Nationwide mortgage system is fundamentally flawed. After we provided them with the requested documents (payslips etc), they were sent away for approval by the mortgage team. A week later, they came back with a question. We answered immediately, and our answer was sent back to the mortgage team. Another week passed, and we got another question. I applied for a mortgage with Nationwide, got my Decision in Principle, had all my income approved, had a valuation booked in, the valuation was approved and then the process was at mortgage offer stage. Nationwide called the office where i work, asked for me and was told i am not in the office and within 10 minutes of that call my mortgage application was declined. Well its coming up to 4 weeks since we submitted our FULL application. Everything was going smoothly. Applied on the 8th September & got the house valued on the 16th and heard back on the same day to say it was sucsessfull. Then after that hell kicks in!! 5 mistakes Nationwide have made!! . went in to make the application on 9th of September 2015 and received the mortgage offer today (17th) Cant fault them. The initial meeting was long but understandable in todays climate but the advisor didn't make it seem like an interrogation - it was quite informal and he found us the best product to suit our needs. “Don't go there”

I went to nationwide for a mortgage, got the mortgage in principle within in an hour of applying, said I could borrow 297K I only wanted £160. put the deposit down on my dream home. I got an appointment the next day due to a cancellation, I thought great everything is going well. “Rubbish...all fake promises...”

“Absolutely Disgusting”

Be warned. This company palms you off onto subsidiaries and then ignores you. If anyone suggests The Mortgage Works or UCB Home Loans, walk away. These are two companies that Nationwide use to put customers to that they can write off. They won't talk to you, because you are not Nationwide direct. When you complain, they send you to Nationwide who won't help. This is all the same company under different legal names. Just paid my finally mortgage payment to nationwide 6years early, in that time the service and phone calls have always been good and direct debt payments always taken on time, my finally payment had to be payed into a local branch, so choose the Merthyr branch, what a mistake made to feel every undervalued customer paid the money in cash to a young lady and handed was given a receipt, did not expect fireworks champagne and balloons, but at least a congratulations and a thank you for using… Read Full Review
