“Dumped!”

Written on: 25/12/2014 by Reynoldstn248 (1 review written)

Movers mortgage - high salary, perfect credit, no debt. Bought auction property. Just about to exchange and then nationwide cancelled my mortgage a week before they told me. No letter, no explanation. A phone all from an admin girl telling me and then a call from my solicitor saying we were a day away from exchange. Going to loose approx 7k now unless I get new mortgage within a week and over Christmas. So disappointed, especially as they were so good at the start in terms of speed. I had a… Read Full Review

“Worst Mortgage Company Ever”

Written on: 19/12/2014 by Brylee94 (1 review written)

AIP with no issues, valuation fee taken very earlier and completed, 3+ weeks later declined with no reasons. Looks like Nationwide is making profit from valuations !! No bad debt, no issues at all good history and savings fairly high income for age and still declined. Keep away from this company!!!… Read Full Review

“17 day wait, then appointment cancelled!”

Written on: 28/11/2014 by Lennon65 (1 review written)

I needed to remortgage after my current deal ended. My mortgage provider (who I have never had any problems with) wanted to charge me a fee for a remortgage, so I decided to look around for fee free mortgages. Nationwide seemed to have the best deal, so I tried to apply online, but it didn't work properly and at a certain point wouldn't let me go any further. It wasn't very user friendly and I'm no technophobe. Anyway I called them up. The first gentleman I spoke to was very friendly and… Read Full Review

Do not apply with Nationwide for a mortgage as a current account holder i have been let down by Nationwide as I applied for a Mortgage on 21/11/2014 over the phone. Since then they asked me to send some documents such as bank statements, payslips, evidence of savings and ID. As I already bank with them so why do they need my ID , Payslips because the salary come directly from my employer to Nationwide accounts but anyway i popped into my local nationwide branch and fax over all the documents that they asked for. Since sending documents after 4 days I called to see if they received my documents so the admin team told me they have all the paperwork that they need so the underwriter will look at it within 48 hours turn around. I waited few day then I called them for update and the admin team told me that they need more documents but when I asked them what documents then they replied to me what I already sent to them previously. I was shocked so I did not wait again I went to the local branch and fax the documents over. Few days later I called to check update again same story 48 hours for underwriter will look at my paperwork. I was so upset so again few days went past i called for update then the admin team telling me on the phone the are missing bank statement but I told them I have sent it twice already and she said to me she can't find it. I gave up because it is nearly one month I'm still going around back to square one. I have sent everything that they have asked for and it seems to me the admin team they have no idea what exactly they are doing. They lie far too much and always blame each other for the same mistake. I am still waiting for the mortgage offer now and the vendors are getting fed-up with me as she needs to sale her house before Christmas. Sad Do not apply with Nationwide stay way but if you want to lose the house then apply with Nationwide.

Worst customer service i have ever experienced. my partner and i had our meeting in branch to set up out mortgage, all went pleasently i supose. we paid a large fee to set it up, ok i supose. then once we had sent our paper work through to them it all got processed well, ok i supose. then the CRUD started. i tried calling the branch... it would seem across 3 nationwide stores only 1 mortgage consultant exsisted. she is the hardest person to contact in the world. and it seems she is the only… Read Full Review

“How to raise your blood pressure to about 300!”

Written on: 26/09/2014 by JavionGordon208 (1 review written)

The interest rates are good, the "revert to" rate is good, the fees are quite low. I'm afraid thats where the good ends. I thought any problems would be reserved for those with poor credit histories, and considering I had a perfect score it would be plain sailing. How wrong I was. Tried to apply online, wouldn't work, so tried to get a branch application. three week wait, then if agreement in principle ok, then wait another four weeks for an application. Instead did it by phone, 4 hour call… Read Full Review

“Should not get ONE star!”

Written on: 20/09/2014 by housecatcher (1 review written)

I originally took out a commercial mortgage with The Derbyshire Building Society. All was fine until Nationwide took over the mortgage book in 2008. Even though I have never been in mortgage arrears NW insisted in having new property valuations at hugely inflated prices earlier this year. I was first told the valuation would be over 4k but after much protest got a basic valuation for the bargain price of 2.5k for a total loan of 140k using of course their panel of surveyors. This fee was then… Read Full Review

“2 months and haven't refunded product fee”

Written on: 19/09/2014 by qwLevesque421 (1 review written)

We got a mortgage offer with Nationwide but unfortunately the seller gazumped us in the last minute. We approached Nationwide to get back the £400 refundable fee and two months and several phone calls later, we are still waiting for the refund. Dealing with them is being extremely frustrating and would not recommend them at all. The offers look good, but the customer service is appalling. I guess that they need to offer decent interest rates to compensate for the uselessness of their… Read Full Review

I have applied for mortgage 4 weeks ago dip given same day survey fee taken out a few days later all come back fine a few days after that. Since then I have been asked via a broker for various documents which have been sent and then re sent it finally got through to underwriter who again was not happy with documents so had to resend statements and such.. Each time it is returned you then have to wait 48 hours for them to review again very poor. Why can't the same person who reviewed review it… Read Full Review

Hi,

My partner and I are going through the same problems with Nationwide, so I feel your pain.

We are also nearly 4 weeks into completing our mortgage application, as the first application we did online had to be cancelled due to a Technical fault their side. We are now trying to complete a second application this time we went into Branch, which seemed a wise choice. However the application is now currently referred to the underwriters even through we passed the credit check the first time round. The inconsistency of Nationwide's processes are unbelievable!

Its almost like the dangle great rates in front of customer, but in actual fact no one can actually get a mortgage with them exact for the select few they choose.

Fingers crossed it will all be sorted soon

If not onto the next bank

“Very Fast - Brilliant!”

Written on: 24/08/2014 by Ashworthxa25 (1 review written)

I don't understand all these negative comments. My mortgage was approved within 4 weeks. I did my mortgage as a first time buyer via London and Country mortgage brokers who found me the deal with Nationwide. My credit is a perfect 963 score I have no debts and earn over 60K a year with a global company and a full pension. The nationwide were given my details once, bank statement payslip proof of deposit and pension and never asked for anything again. Valuation was done then mortgage offer… Read Full Review

“Additional Borrowing Pre and Post MMR”

Written on: 21/08/2014 by WinstonOwen (1 review written)

Whilst doing an extension we approached Nationwide in March (pre new regulations) and by telephone got an initial amount to begin an extension. The process was ok aside from issues getting documents to them and never speaking to the same person. Post MMR we approached to do the rest of the build and this time, were concerned as all the bad press about the new regulations were quite frightening. However, our telephone Mortgage advisor was excellent and she looked after our case all the way… Read Full Review

“It has taken 2 months for me to find out my mortgage...”

Written on: 13/08/2014 by darrenhann1993 (1 review written)

It has taken 2 months for me to find out my mortgage application is in decline, with no phone call or letter to advise me of the situation. I had to phone the New Business Centre myself to find out the current situation. They are very happy to take a valuation and application fee up front, but their eagerness soon disappears thereafter. I have had to write a letter of complaint with threats of the Ombudsman but noy joy. They claim the figures were changed from the beginning of the application… Read Full Review

“Disappointed and Upset after poor service”

Written on: 12/08/2014 by bagwell2588 (2 reviews written)

I was recommended a Nationwide mortgage product by an excellent Broker, and submitted an application to start the process. All information was presented as requested and the fee’s for valuation and arrangement were paid. The valuation took place and as far as I was aware, there were no problems. I receive a call from my Broker a week later to advise that Nationwide were now not happy about a 2nd property we owned as a Buy to Let, and that a further 5% deposit would be required. The initial… Read Full Review

“Excellent...but a good broker is also important!!”

Written on: 12/08/2014 by 252McIntyre (1 review written)

After being rejected by Accord and Skipton, we had the following experience with Nationwide: For a new mortgage (70% LTV): first application on 22 April, passed credit score same day, and then passed to underwriters. Decision in principle on 25 April, full application submitted on 28 April, valuation on 2 May, offer issued the same day on 2 May. Due to other developments in the chain, didn't complete until 1 August but no issues with Nationwide. I was very impressed with how quick the whole… Read Full Review

“Wow service”

Written on: 10/08/2014 by Kash1947 (1 review written)

As an investor seeking a primary residence, I was impressed with the different types of non traditional loan programs. In particular, my loan officer put together a combo package loan using a bank, where there was no additional compensation for him. I was so impressed that he worked so hard just to get my loan completed and closed. I have experienced a night mare loan in the past with banks, including Chase and Wells Fargo. Lets party… Read Full Review

“Nationwide are NOT on your side, as they claim they are”

Written on: 10/08/2014 by 354Mead (1 review written)

As an existing nationwide mortgage holder with exemplary credit rating and nearly 50% deposit, we thought we would have no issue getting a mortgage. We already had a DIP from another lender but further to 2 good meetings with our paperwork in branch at nationwide, we decided to let this go. We had a 3rd meeting with nationwide to do a decision in principle and application; all was fine. The application was processed quickly with house valuation done within 2 days. We chased them up a week later… Read Full Review
