“Absolutely Disgusting”

Be warned. This company palms you off onto subsidiaries and then ignores you. If anyone suggests The Mortgage Works or UCB Home Loans, walk away. These are two companies that Nationwide use to put customers to that they can write off. They won't talk to you, because you are not Nationwide direct. When you complain, they send you to Nationwide who won't help. This is all the same company under different legal names. “Mortgage paid should have been joyful”

Just paid my finally mortgage payment to nationwide 6years early, in that time the service and phone calls have always been good and direct debt payments always taken on time, my finally payment had to be payed into a local branch, so choose the Merthyr branch, what a mistake made to feel every undervalued customer paid the money in cash to a young lady and handed was given a receipt, did not expect fireworks champagne and balloons, but at least a congratulations and a thank you for using… Read Full Review

“nothing seems to be happening...”

I have been waiting for two weeks a now for a decision in principal. When I check the status online, various required documents that I have already submitted pop back up - showing as outstanding, I have called the helpdesk each time this has happened and they confirm I have provided the information and remove the outstanding item, but each time this happens am told that it will be another 3 working days before I get a decision. “Three To Four Hours To Process A Mortgage Extention”

We decided to do the application over the phone to get some additional borrowing of 45K on our small mortgage. We where quoted that it would take two hours which I thought if I can rush it through maybe an hour and a half. 

So after two hours and twenty minutes on the end of a phone to a rather rude operator repeating the same intrusive and rather pointless questions time after time, he finally said we need another hour to finish the process. then said can we do it on Monday at 1.00pm!

The issue is banks and building societies have to go through so much scripting for regulatory reasons. The questions asked often seem pointless, but due to the blame culture that surrounds us they need to be asked. Otherwise a customer could come back and say they were not made aware of something or that if a certain question was aked the bank would know it was not suitable.

All calls are recorded and if a staff members misses something they can potentially lose their job.

“Simply Useless......”

Rates are competitive....but........ Tried to do online mortgage application...system crashed Arranged to go into branch ...took 2 weeks to get appointment on a Friday. Took the day off work. System in the branch wouldn't get past address without crashing. Staff aware that their system is useless.......it happens regularly apparently. Staff hand typed everything. “Mortgage Nightmare”

I am absolutely disgusted with Nationwide. We took a mortgage out with them as first time buyers and were massively wrongly advised on rates. Our circumstances have now changed and we are living on one wage and cannot afford the huge repayments due to having a baby. After waiting over 30 days for DIP and being asked for paperwork constantly, some of which had already been supplied, I applied from the Halifax and got a DIP instantly. Whatever the process is at Nationwide it is awful, incredibly slow and frustrating, good products but only if you can get them! So much easire than i expected. We applied (through a broker) on 10th March, got an offer on 20th March. Im sure not everyone has had the same service, but thats the same with everything - can't be perfect everytime! “Very Poor Service ”

Applied for an online mortgage with Nationwide 3 weeks ago, got a DIP very quickly. We paid for the valuation within a day of applying and they valued the property it cam up to value. They just keep asking for more and more documents, often asking for the same documents 2 or 3 times (even through we have sent them, we have to send them again). Hello I have tried to apply for mortgage (as first time buyer) with Nationwide. They have refused me saying according my credit score ( I never have debt or any borrowings) they cannot help me. Applied for mortgage with help to buy it took 7 weeks we went through a broker team who were fantastic but nationwide are so poor in customer service we were constantly asked for documents that had already been sent to them 2/3 times everytime a new document was sent they would tell us it takes 6 days!! 6 days!!!
