“Awaiting mortgage offer”

I have applied for mortgage 4 weeks ago dip given same day survey fee taken out a few days later all come back fine a few days after that. Since then I have been asked via a broker for various documents which have been sent and then re sent it finally got through to underwriter who again was not happy with documents so had to resend statements and such.. “Very Fast - Brilliant!”

I don't understand all these negative comments. My mortgage was approved within 4 weeks. I did my mortgage as a first time buyer via London and Country mortgage brokers who found me the deal with Nationwide. My credit is a perfect 963 score I have no debts and earn over 60K a year with a global company and a full pension. “Additional Borrowing Pre and Post MMR”

Whilst doing an extension we approached Nationwide in March (pre new regulations) and by telephone got an initial amount to begin an extension. The process was ok aside from issues getting documents to them and never speaking to the same person. Post MMR we approached to do the rest of the build and this time, were concerned as all the bad press about the new regulations were quite frightening. “It has taken 2 months for me to find out my mortgage...”

It has taken 2 months for me to find out my mortgage application is in decline, with no phone call or letter to advise me of the situation. I had to phone the New Business Centre myself to find out the current situation. They are very happy to take a valuation and application fee up front, but their eagerness soon disappears thereafter. I was recommended a Nationwide mortgage product by an excellent Broker, and submitted an application to start the process. All information was presented as requested and the fee’s for valuation and arrangement were paid. The valuation took place and as far as I was aware, there were no problems. After being rejected by Accord and Skipton, we had the following experience with Nationwide: For a new mortgage (70% LTV): first application on 22 April, passed credit score same day, and then passed to underwriters. Decision in principle on 25 April, full application submitted on 28 April, valuation on 2 May, offer issued the same day on 2 May. As an existing nationwide mortgage holder with exemplary credit rating and nearly 50% deposit, we thought we would have no issue getting a mortgage. We already had a DIP from another lender but further to 2 good meetings with our paperwork in branch at nationwide, we decided to let this go. “INCOMPETENT UNDERWRITER”

Consultants were very helpful and on my side, however underwriters are incompetent. Despite official certification sent to demonstrate my gross earnings as a contractor they replied to state that they only accept Gross Pay and not net and then failed to enter my gross pay correctly into the system and so lowered the loan amount. “Appalling Decision”

After giving ALL my information over the phone I was told I could borrow £155,000. Based on this information I decided to go through with the decision in principal. The Nationwide then did a hard search on my credit rating and refused the loan!!! I went from having an "excellent" credit rating to a "fair" one over night and probably won't be able to get another mortgage now based on their decision. Applied for mortgage 1st June - decision in principle referred - finally approved on 27/06 we paid our fees and was assigned a solicitor. 2nd July they accidentally cancelled our mortgage... They 'rekeyed' the case and asked us for new documents, which we happily sent straight over. Now being told our case has been referred and we might not get a mortgage and nobody can tell us why! I applied in february for additional borrowing to complete some home improvements,despite numerous telephone calls, faxed documents sent / copies of previous documents resent recorded delivery I was still waiting for an answer for the under writer , I then received a telephone call last week from nationwide requesting more information, bank statements as previous ones are now out of date !!! I don’t often write reviews, and thankfully I usually don’t have to. But Nationwide Mortgage is absolutely terrible. This is my 4th mortgage company that I’ve dealt with in my lifetime, unfortunately this was shopped from our original company where the loan originated. “Three months and still counting!”

To cut a very long story short nationwide have taken over three months to complete our mortgage in fact we still don't have a mortgage offer. Before we involved the complaints department we had a mortgage agreed in principle, the house valued then told due to the law change we had to go back into branch to be told verbally that my partner would be over the age of retirement at the maturity of the mortgage.
