I have bought this freezer in November 2012 from Comet. Two weeks ago the red light came on and the contents started to defrost. I have put it on fast freeze but the temperature is not going below -5. No point of having it repaired as I feel I have been taken in from the beginning by asking about the noise level and they could not give me an answer.I have never been happy right from the beginning because it is very noisy and the bottom draw is difficult to handle. This product should be taken off the market immediately. From the review I could see I was not the only one having this problem. Hotpoint shame on you.

Bought this freezer in 2011 for just over £200 from Comet. At just 3 years old the red light came on and the contents started to defrost. The fan was running inside and the compressor was running as well but was very hot. The freezer came with a 5 year warranty one year parts an labour and 4 years of parts only. I phoned the Hotpoint customer service to make a claim on the warranty to be told that there was two options to repair option one an engineer would call t a cost of £110 and the fault would be rectified. Option two was £15 per Month for 12 Months which would include a repair of the freezer and an insurance policy if the freezer was to fail again I would receive a new Hotpoint freezer. I considered at these costs the freezer was beyond economic repair as it was half the cost of the original price I paid. The warranty isn't worth the paper it written on. I have replaced it with a Miele freezer lets hope this one is better. I won't be buying anything Hotpoint again

The drawers are flimsy and fit badly and are so thin that the plastic breaks making them impossible to move, this causes them to jam the door slightly open and the contents to defrost. Buying new drawers makes no difference as the news ones quickly break too. I even resorted to supergluing reinforcement on to them. Avoid this badly designed monstrosity at all costs.

DO NOT BUY THIS RUBBISH. Mine lasted just over 2yrs then cost over £100 to repair. The drawers are difficult to pull in and out and the noise is dreadful. The engineer said the noise was 'normal' but it sounds like we have a traction engine in our kitchen. Will almost be glad when it breaks down again so that I have an excuse to take it to the nearest landfill. Probably the worst domestic appliance I have ever bought - a complete waste of money.

Lots of noise from the unit as it constantly circulates air to stay frost free

My Hotpoint FZA34 freezer lasted just over 12 months and that was it. Customer services dept seemed not interested. Call out charge £89.99, payable in advance, whether the freezer can be repaired or not.
Terrible freezer, poor company.
Avoid at all costs.
