“Worst bank ever”

We applied for remortgage and initially they sent us a letter saying they can process our application. Kept us waiting for 5 months giving us hope that we would get our remortgage . Finally after 5 months of desperate wait the bank says application is declined. Leaving us in such a bad situation. Our credit score was good. Horrible bank ever initially gives u a good hope and finally let u down plz plz don't go to this bank. I am sending a complaint letter now. Will update with what they... (read more)

I went to Natwest Epsom to see the mortgage adviser! I have to say that the unexpected service was very welcomed! I was great with a smile, asked if I wanted tea or coffee, then as we started the meeting she set the agenda, & asked what my expectations were from the meeting! It didn't feel like I was talking to a stranger, she had done her homework & whilst already knew a lot if information about me, she asked me to tell her about myself, & it felt like I was genuily talking to someone that... “Appalling, Slow, and Unhelpful”

Written on: 21/03/2013

We applied for a shared equity mortgage to enable us to purchase a property on the FirstBuy scheme. We got an AIP for 114000 and proceeded to reserve a plot. We subsequently picked the interior fitments of the property. 7 weeks after application, we were notified that our maximum mortgage we could have had been reduced by 11000 to 103000. There has been no reason given for this, and we have now lost the house we had our hearts set on. Their online calculators still show our maximum as... (read more)

“Disgusting phone manner”

Written on: 12/03/2013

I have banked with Natwest since I was a student some 25 years and have since added my business banking and Mortgage to them. Today I called up as my fixed rate mortgage term had ended and I had been transferred to the banks standard variable rate. The advisor was very short and borderline rude as though they were not interested in my business. She perfectly demonstrated that the banks neither want nor feel they need the risk of mortages even from low risk long term customers like me. It... (read more)

“Poor organization and service from Nat West”

Written on: 17/02/2013

My daughter and her boyfriend have made the mistake of seeking a first time mortgage from nat west. At point of exchange they have just been informed that Nat West appoint their own solicitors to deal with purchases made with their mortgages, which will further delay the process. It is quite feasible the vendor will now put the property back on the market, due to the delay in receipt of approval (they have received a verbal approval from the mortgage centre )which makes no sense other than... “Leaving NatWest After 20 Years of Loyalty”

We are first time buyers so popped into a NatWest branch yesterday to discuss getting a mortgage. I've banked with Natwest for 20 years so we wanted to try there first and my monthly salary goes into my account which is quite substantial. A mortgage advisor took our details and gave us a quote. Neither of us have any debt of any kind, we both work full time but my partner is 10 yrs older than me. I earn much more than my partner & have a secure job. We were more than surprised to hear... “NatWest very poor, beware!!”

Written on: 27/10/2012 by Jameso1963

We applied for a NatWest mortgage at the start of June, we were given an agreement in principle. After being asked for and providing bank statements, wage slips and virtually every financial bit of information available they finally decided it was time to send out a surveyor to value the property, this took them about 2 months with the valuation costing us about £585 or thereabouts. The problems really started after the valuation report was sent back to NatWest, despite the property being... (read more)

It took Natwest too long to return the paperwork, the girl that we took the identification into in branch didn't send it, even though we had told her who to send it to and what the number was and that it was urgent. The branch managers defence was that she was new! Not good enough. Have applied with natwest for a mortgage and been told could not be given the agreement in principle due to my partner using his overtime as part of his income as he earns significant amount of overtime they have asked us to submit a full application and supply wage slips banks statments and a letter of emplyer stating over time earned, my partner has a briliiant credit history however on experian his score is quite low due to searches carried out from 2 other mortgage lenders, natwest credit search has shown up today on his credit file so we are hoping this is a posstive sign as they havent declined us straight off which they would have done if wed have failed credit check, can you offer any helpful advice if what natwest process is and what happens then once full app is submitted will another check be carried out as obv his score has dropped again due to natwest searching his file ?

“Helpful Banking???”

Earlier this year I decided to purchase my first home. I'd heard some horror stories about people being messed around so decided to apply to my bank for my mortgage, NatWest. I find this review extremely interesting as we are going through an extremely "uncanny" similar situation!!!
We had everything in place for weeks and just as a completion date was to be arranged we got told there had been adverse activity on one of our bank accounts!!!!
It was actually Natwests fault as a direct debit that we cancelled hadnt actually been cancelled and we werent notified about this until it had been attempted to be taken for 2 months!!!
Anyway all that was sorted and now we're faced again with apparently everything in place and no completion date.
We keep getting told people will phone us - They never do!!! I am calling them and there legal team (also waste of time) daily and today i got told i'd get completion date within 20 mins and a phone call back! What happened no phone call and when i called them case exec had gone home!!!!! I am sick to death of this its been going on since feb!!!!!

“Terrible service from NatWest Mortgage looking to...”

Terrible service from NatWest Mortgage looking to change my mortgage as soon as possible. We set up the mortgage in my partners account before setting up a joint account. The joint account was set up by the time we moved in and we tried to switch the mortgage to the joint account.
Instead of doing this they took someone else's mortgage out of the joint account while my partner still paid ours!
We alerted them to this and after being on hold on a premium line for just over an hour we managed to... (read more)

“The Natwest Mortgage Centre needs lessons in...”

Written on: 10/07/2009

The Natwest Mortgage Centre needs lessons in communication and customer service. If you are looking for a fast mortgage approval, or fast response to anything once you get your approval, forget about Natwest. Even though I had received initial "in principle" approval, it took them a month to send out the paperwork. And then when they made a mistake with the address on the mortgage, they refused to amend it quickly and held up exchange. As a consequence I am now in serious danger of... (read more)

Generally the customer service has been excellent over the number of years of operating the One Account. However, the decision makers who sit in their ivory towers with no names or faces have just made a mockery of the underlying traditions of the Account by not passing on for the first time in One Account history the changes in the BOE base rate. If you want a re-mortgage and you want it fairly quickly and straightforward, don't go to Natwest. SIMPLE. We will be changing after the first year of this re-mortgage.
I requested urgent copy of deeds as we have boundary problems. FOUR times in last two months. Still no joy. They informed me it must be sent to the branch and I need to give the name of an Employee there. Tried that. Still no joy. So the neighbour knocked the wall down anyway.
It seems their Mortgage centre have serious... (read more)

“Me and my partner have recently applied for a mortgage...”

Written on: 19/01/2006 by katyboo (1 review written)

Me and my partner have recently applied for a mortgage with NatWest. Well, where should I start?

From day one of applying for this mortgage I have had nothing but stress. This is our first property and we had no idea what the process was. Let's just say that they haven't got a clue when it comes to handling mortgages. I used the NatWest call centre to take out my mortgage. From taking out the mortgage, which was in November 2005, we still haven't completed due to NatWest. Their... (read more)

“This interest only mortgage is great - in the short...”

Written on: 20/01/2004 by Lucinda Wilby (1 review written)

This interest only mortgage is great - in the short term or if you are confident with investments. With the NatWest Interest only mortgage, Your monthly payments will be low as you are only paying interest each month - but that means you are not reducing the original loan. This is fine if you are saving money towards it or plan on selling your property at the end of the loan period.

It is not a long term problem solver, but can help you over a difficult patch and allow you to make... (read more)
