    After one year, this fridge broke down on us, and has done so every 6 months there on. Thankfully we have insurance on the product. After many years of Hotpoint coming out to repair the same problem over and over again, which was over freezing or completely breaking down because it over froze, even on the lowest setting, we have now been offered a replacement of our choice. We will not be choosing Hotpoint again that is for sure!

    I have contacted the point of sale regarding my Hotpoint FFA40X, ie Comet, who seem not interested, largely because it is outside the 12 month manufacturers guarantee period and we didn't purchase an extended warranty.

    I suspect I will get the same response from Hotpoint/Indesit, but my feelings are that 20months service does not qualify something as of merchantable quality, which is an argument I feel I will put forward.

    We have found the Hotpoint FFA40X frost free freezer unit to be unreliable - broke down twice in two years and was probably faulty on delivery, but this only became clear after the end of the one year manufacturer parts guarantee. Manufacturer repair (Indesit) service proved ineffective - repeated visits necessitate whole days taken out of work, as they cannot specify a time of arrival. On one occasion, engineer visit was pointless. Parts proved very difficult and slow to obtain, with the result ...
