“NEVER buy home insurance from Esure or Sheilas Wheels!”

Written on: 29/01/2014 by OleOlsen (1 review written)

In our lifetime we have never made a claim on any insurance policy, but last July we were burgled and put in a claim for the first time. I now regret ever giving this company my business because we are still waiting to see if they will settle our GENUINE claim some 6 months later! We have done everything by the book and completely honoured our obligations in providing evidence and information of the items stolen including £650 cash. Esure never reply to correspondence and only act when you… Read Full Review

“Useless home emergency cover.”

Written on: 27/01/2014 by Naeem151 (4 reviews written)

Glad I was within cooling off period of my home insurance when my boiler broke down due to failure of heat exchange part. Ensure sent out an Engineer who said that part would be ordered next day. I checked the price and would cost around 350-400£. Esure called me next day stating I have to pay 450£ excess as only 500£ is covered under emergency cover. They came up with all kind of extra parts and told me that Engineer still can not guarantee that boiler will work so I should just change it… Read Full Review

I put a genuine claim in and they do not want to pay questioning the contractor and saying he is too expensive. Do no use ESURE pay extra and get a decent company. Insurance ombudsman will be contacting ESURE and that costs them money. I have never made a claim and ESURE will not be on my renewing list. Avoid them at all costs.. They are rude and accuse you of having defrauded them!!! No stars at all for them and would give them -100..........

“Please check your documents!!! Alarm issue over £75k!!! ”

Written on: 03/01/2014 by Chrisyb1981 (1 review written)

I have been insured with Esure Home Insurance for a couple of years now and thankfully this is the last month I have to put up with the imbeciles!!! Last January my policy was renewed automatically and the value of the contents rose in line with inflation. This took the contents value over £75k. Now with Esure it is compulsory to have an alarm fitted to cover £75K worth of contents. If you have contents to the value of £74,999 then an alarm is not compulsory. The company didn't properly… Read Full Review

I agree Esure are not professional and they refused to pay out a perfectly good claim due to storm damage. Get the Insurance ombudsman involved and they will pay out. Avoid Esure at all costs!!!!

“Telephone team give customers really Duff advice!”

Written on: 17/07/2013

I've had Esure Home Emergency Cover for approximately 8 years now and never made a claim. Tonight our boiler literally exploded emitting clouds of steam and sending steam through the hot water taps and blowing the airing cupboard door open! After we had turned off the gas and water at the mains I telephoned Esure Home Emergency Cover at 8.45pm, they said they would call an Engineer but he would not be able to get out to us until the following day and could take anything up to 24 hours. I… Read Full Review

Written on: 04/07/2013 by UnhappyfromSurrey (1 review written)

Do not touch esure home insurance with a barge pole!!!! They are incredibly rude and will do everything they can to get out of not paying on a claim or even sending someone out. The home emergency actually said to me “esure don’t know what the terms and conditions are with the home emergency”! I had a problem with my boiler and possible leaking pipes. They said that I had to find out what the problem was. I then asked them how was I supposed to determine the problem if they won’t send… Read Full Review

“storm & rain damage apparently not covered...... ”

Written on: 19/01/2013 by DanD (1 review written)

After 7.5 years of home insurance without a claim, I finally had cause to make a claim with Esure. The result was: - being treated and talked to like a criminal - having to go through the basic details that were provided at the time of taking out the insurance a further 4 or 5 times - Esure did not pay out to cover a very basic risk. Despite having suffered multiple storms and the wettest December on record we were told that "there were no storms / or otherwise extreme weather" - ie… Read Full Review

1. To cover storm conditions there must be winds of over 55mph. If winds are below this speed then the claim cannot be covered due to no storm conditions

2. A loss assesor /surveyor visiting the property the next day is very quick. You are obviously a litle impatient.

3. It is your obligation to read the policy book to see what you are covered for, after you signed the doted line.

“Very poor......”

Written on: 27/09/2012 by CarolineUD (1 review written)

Where do I start! Firstly, having hung on the phone for over half an hour I eventually spoke to "customer services". I asked if they would call me back as my phone battery was dying but they were " not obliged" so basically wouldn't. I was ringing to sort out a problem as they had logged that we had had a subsidence claim that had paid out. My new insurers got wind of it and are threatening to cancel in me. We had lodged a potential claim but it was never followed through. The monies spent… Read Full Review

“Don't Bother with Unsure!!”

Written on: 26/09/2012 by Dav45 (1 review written)

I took out the home emergency cover for an extra £53.99 and wished I hadn't bothered as it is anything but emergency cover. After realising there was a problem with my central heating with no radiators warming up along with a variety of ominious loud noises emitting from the system I rang esure around 7pm to report the problem. In the meantime although I had turned off everything I could connected with the boiler it was still making a racket and giving us serous cause for concern. After being… Read Full Review

Update on this claim,
Still no central heating or hot water five days after reporting the faulty boiler,
Second engineer come out from Oracle Gas and briefly made the boiler work announced all was ok and then disappeared upon which the boiler broke down again.
Home Service which provide Esure's Emergency Cover have been unable to contact Oracle Gas because they don't answer the phone after 5pm.
So not a emergancy company at all and just another fly by night outfit that parades itself as an emergency call out company.

“blocked mains sewer resulting in flood, ignored by esure”

Written on: 31/07/2012 by nicksl (1 review written)

I wish i could give them zero stars. My street had a mains sewer blocked resulting in three houses (including mine) having sewerage flowing down the path, driveway and in the garage. I called my home insurer esure for advise on what i should do as some people had advised me i should dispose of anything that came into contact with the sewer water. Esure couldnt be less insterested, they offered no help or advise and just tried to disuade me from making a claim. They did, however, open a… Read Full Review

“Cheap home insurance and claim settled in 5 days!”

Written on: 20/04/2012 by Screenwipe (3 reviews written)

My home insurance is with Sheila's Wheels. Nice and cheap. When I went to make a claim I found that Sheila's Wheels was "created" by esure, so the claim was handled by them. On 12th April I reported that my son had taken my mobile phone swimming LITERALLY! At this stage I wasn't going to make a claim, we were hoping to dry it out. On 16th April I phoned them back to say that the phone was dead. I had shopped around for a replacement phone. Carphone Warehouse had it for £499 but I found my… Read Full Review

“Worst customer service you can imagine.”

Written on: 04/10/2011 by TaxiforRennie (1 review written)

Never previously had to claim on house insurance, but was flooded. Informed esure, who duly told me "it sounds like your policy does not cover this ........... we will call you back within 48 hours". They then failed to do this. I've had to do EVERYTHING myself - esure have not lifted a finger to help, and not what you expect when you have suffered a flood. They tried to charge me TWO policy excesses for one claim! There call centre staff are routinely rude, and never listen to what you are… Read Full Review

“Can't be bothered service”

Written on: 12/09/2011 by KinghSingh (2 reviews written)

This is my first ever claim! I had water damage from a very leaky pipe to an upstairs bathroom. Damage was done to the tiles, the box covering the soil pipes, ground floor electrics and ceiling plaster board. The tiles were broken when the leak had to be stopped – to get to the pipe. Esure, said that, for the bathroom, they will only cover the broken tiles – not the rest of the tiles; but may make a contribution for more tiles if no matching tiles can be found and I should ”check the… Read Full Review

“Where do I start! burgled, so go fimd the insurance...”

Written on: 24/05/2011

Where do I start! burgled, so go fimd the insurance papers, the only phone number on them is the renewal line. Doesn't it occur to them that the one number you might need in an emergency is the claim line? Anyway, finally get a number, and to be fair we had a guy out within the hour, house made safe - the burglar had physically removed a double glazed window, quite common apparently.
Next day I phone Esure to progress the claim, no they won't pay! Why not?
Well, you have a £350 excess on your… Read Full Review

we rude staff and bad customer service. they want you to read 15 page of small print and not ask them any questions. they hope that you will miss something important in the small print so they don't have to payout.

They want to get money as quickly as possible and not explain all the infomration properly. I got my insurance recently with them I was told that if water leaks through my roof and a hole is found there, they will not pay for it as it is wear and tear. so can anyone tell me how… Read Full Review
