“Leaking roof after gales and rain”

In 30yrs I have never made any insurance claim before. However, today I needed the insurance I pay for as due to high wind and rain I have a leaking roof and water pouring through loft and into middle room of my house. I phoned esure and confirmed I was covered for this type of problem it was confirmed I was but had to pay £200 excess, no problem. Hi User.

I can understand your frustration.

Unfortunately any emergency works needs to done by you. You are the home owner and it's your job to make the property safe and secure, not the insurance company.

If there is storm conditions they there should be no problem. Just get a contractor to do the emergency works to the roof, perhaps take some pictures whilst he's up there. Then get the same person and another to quote for the works.

With regards to the internal damage. Again take a lot of pictures and get 2 quotes.

A lot of people think the insurance company will sort everything. This isn't car insurance and the repairs need to be arranged by you. It's hassle but it's the process.

“Poor attitude to customers”

I was with Esure home insurance for several years. When I didn't renew I was charged for 'provided insurance' when the current policy expired. Payment collection failed as I didn't wish to renew as my renewal was very expensive and attempts to contact them were ignored initially and then just an e-mail giving me a number to call to pay. “This insurance company is conning the public”

Having had Insurance with this Company for a year . We had a leak in the Bathroom upstairs and called them . They sent a surveyor out who told me that the quote I had from a Builder was to low as there was more Damage than first thought . Hi User.

I can see how this has annoyed you.

It's a simple case of one work against another. Both are professionals opinions. I'd recommended getting a third opinion from a surveyor as to when the leak started.

If the leak started prior to the inception of the policy then your insurers are right, they won't pay for this.

If you can't get anywhere with a third opinion why not refer the matter to the insurer who you previous had? One of them will have to honor it!

If you're getting nowhere, then go through the complaints process and report to the FOS. If the insurers get wind you're going to the FOS they might actually pay too to save the hassle,

“Esure Home Emergency Cover, is it worthy???”

I needed Esure's Home Emergency Cover (my policy: ******82 to prove I'm their member) for a "lock-smith" this morning because I could not shut my garden-facing double-glazed door after I had been trying to replace its lock. It was an emergency because anyone could sneak in my oroperty through that door and burgle it. “Home emergency cover”

I would normally not take the time to write a review, however following a call to the home emergency number this morning I feel I should warn people of their scheme. It appears that the home emergency number, does not cover a leak in a roof! “GAS LTD DISHONEST”

We came to know this company through our HE cover with Esure. Our boiler was not working so made a claim to Esure. 1st time GAS LTD engineer came, did not even take the cover off to look, explanation for the start stop problem every few minutes was that the temperature had been reached. Wish I had read the reviews about Esure before renewal our Home Ins with them. Our experience of claiming on the Home Emergency cover is very similar to other contributors here. We did not have to make any claim last yr but at beginning of Sept the boiler played up when we just wanted to get some hot water - it started ok but few minutes later it stopped and kept doing even after reset so we called Esure. “Disgusting Emergency cover”

Yes they are I've made complaint looked on website of tradesmen linaro only one man was safety gas registered and he did not come to my house 4 other different men none of them had a clue like I said they said economical beyond repair surprisingly they got bill up to £499 my limit was £50 think they thought I was stupid enough to then ask them to fix it and pay them direct.

“This has to be the worst insurance company ever”

I had an accident which clearly wasn't my fault. Despite having a comprehensive cover, including legal cover, Esure told me that I have to pay them my excess first, and would get it back when the other party have paid them. “Burglary ”

My home got burgled whilst I was away on holiday, you can imagine my shock when I arrived home and there were police inside my house. I called Esure straight away and they very kind, they took me through the process and what the next steps were. I felt a great deal of empathy was given over the phone which made me feel at ease. Absolutely rubbish, really unhelpful staff who don't listen to anything I say or the assessors say. I have had a leak from the upstairs flat, their bath seal was not properly sealed. Esure will not even try and claim on the flat upstairs insurance because they say they will probably not win unless I can prove negligence ( how do I do that? ).
