“don't buy”

I had to replace the food processor attachment as it stopped working after 3 yrs , now the replacement higher volume can't cope and grinds to a halt when food in , it works empty! Once I had to take the whole machine to a service as the K beater wouldn't detach.I have not got round to using all the graters ,I think its going to the dump at less than 6 years old.

“wouldn't be without it!”

★★★★★

written by SarahMichelle87 on 06/01/2015

i got the kenwood chef titanium for christmas 2014 and initially was blown away by the number of attachments, user manuals and gadgets that came with it - it takes up an entire kitchen cupboard on its own. When i had overcome the initial hurdle of not knowing where to start, and began to experiement, you realise how good this machine really is. The reason it's bulky and that it takes up so much cupboard space is because it really can do everything for you! My most freqently used attachments are the normal mixing bowl with the whisk and dough hook, the food processer and blender, the pasta maker and the ice cream maker. I've been making home made soups, cakes, bread, pizza, sauces etc. in minutes since I got into the swing of it. It really doesn't take long. There have been absolutely no faults or quality issues with my machine and I have been using it at least every other day, if not every day. My 4 year old can work out how to operate it when we're making cakes [not that she uses it unsupervised!] and most of the parts are easy to clean with a quick rinse under the tap. The kitchenaid and other equivalents on the market either don't offer as much functionality or feel flimsy in comparison - the k.chef is a really solid, heavy piece of equipment and even though some models are circa £300/£350 you can see that you get your moneys worth.

“Best on the market - bar none”

★★★★★

written by veggieface on 07/11/2014

The chef titanium is my mixer of choice because it comes with a great bundle - blender and food processor, as well as 3 usual tools plus silicone beater. This cannot be beaten by any other brand! The bowl has 2 handles which makes it much easier to remove with mucky hands, and all the controls are one one side of the machine, which means it's a lot simpler to operate. There are a lot more attachments for this model, it is extremely solid and does not dance a jig around the work top, even with a sticky dough on board. It copes with anything I ask of it effortlessly, and does not make too much noise, either, even with such a massive 1400w motor. I am a pretty good, adventurous cook and baker, and I find this machine simply indispensable. I have owned it for over 4 years and it behaves as if brand new. It is very heavy, so needs to be kept out on the top - this also means it gets used more. The only gripe I have is that the food processor can be a bit off faff to get the lid on, but I get there! I thoroughly recommend.

“I am so disappointed with the Kenwood Chef Titanium...”

★★☆☆☆

written by handbagsguide on 08/02/2011

I am so disappointed with the Kenwood Chef Titanium 010! After using the same Magimix for 25 years I got the Kenwood because it should be better for cake making. What a let down! It is really fiddly to use, the user manuals give no useful information. When I do make anything the mixture stays on the beater, which is really hard to clear. I really regret not getting another Magimix.

“My mum had previously used a Magimix food processor...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 16/11/2010

My mum had previously used a Magimix food processor for 40 years, which was bomb proof (the modern Magimix is terrible she said, with a cheap plastic bowl that is not robust). She uses it almost every day to make bread, cakes etc, so can be regarded as a fairly heavy duty user. Compared to her old Magimix, she says the on/off button is flimsy plastic that will not hold up to much wear; I also notice the see-through plastic lid that covers the bowl is made of a plastic that will snap easily. In addition, she says that to change attachments, she has to use a spanner (included with product). This is a real hassle for her and was not necessary on the old Magimix. It appears most modern products are not up to the durability of old ones, so it may be that she would not be happy with anything other than an commerical brands like the RoboCoupe (the starting price of these is close to £500 and up).. Her actual words were ' cheap, nasty, cr@p'. I notice the new Kenwood copies the design of an American brand (can't remember the name, but retails around £350). On the basis that this American brand gets the best reviews and Kenwood is copying them, perhaps that says everything.

“There is something special about having a 'Kenwwod...”

★★★★★

written by perrywinkle9 on 03/11/2010

There is something special about having a 'Kenwwod Chef.' Some of my earliest kitchen memories involve using one to make cakes at my Gran's house. Ever since I was young any kitchen that I have been in that doesn't have one has seemed incomplete.

I was lucky to receive a 'Kenwood Chef Classic' for Christmas last year and it has quickly become the most used food preparation tool in my kitchen. The 'Chef' is a great looking machine and has the same basic design as was used in the 1950's. The 'Chef' is considered by it's fans (me included.) to be virtually indestructible by anything you are likely to use it for, indeed my Gran's 'Chef' which was a gift for her in the seventies is still going strong. The 'Chef's' reliability and versatility have given it almost a cult following.

When I received my chef it came with; a spatula, a 'K' beater, a balloon whisk, a dough hook, a liquidizer, a multi mill, a splash guard, a cookery book and DVD and of course the chef itself. The only two items that I received with mine that my gran didn't all those years ago were the splash guard and the DVD.

The K beater is the item that would probably be used the most as it works like a standard food mixer. The balloon whisk is a decent tool and really takes the arm ache out of large whisking jobs. I was a little apprehensive of using the dough hook as I make my own bread but have hated using bread machines, I find bread machine bread has something indescribable wrong with it. Here though I was delighted with the results, there are only a few odd breads such as brioche that I prefer to make by hand, in terms of kneading the bread the chef is a real time saver.

My wife always used to complain when I was baking that I was making a mess in the kitchen, now I use the chef for most baking jobs she is much happier. The liquidizer that came with the chef is of a much higher quality than the standalone one that we previously had and is also much easier to clean, our old liquidizer has been donated to a charity shop. The cookery book is a great starting place for a lot of the different attachments and I would recommend following a couple of the recipes to see how to make your favourite recipes easier by making them using the 'Chef'. I have not yet used the multi mill.

There are a great number of attachments you can buy to make light work of many jobs in the kitchen. So far I have only bought the ice cream maker, which really is so easy to use. I am desperate to get hold of the grain mill that would bring a whole new level to the meaning of making stuff from scratch.

This is one product that I would not want to be without. I cannot recommend the Kenwood Chef and all of it's attachments highly enough. If you were able to give some outstanding products higher than five stars this would have ten. A Kenwood kitchen machine will set you back between £130-300, shop around and make sure you get the right one for your needs.

“It is a real shame I think, the Kenwood Chef KM001 is...”

It is a real shame I think, the Kenwood Chef KM001 is actually a good machine - but the Kenwood Customer Service is just so poor. I struggle to get my calls returned and when I speak to them I have dealt with some unhelpful and also some rude staff. This is enough to make me not buy Kenwood again.
