Good Points: Looks great. Love the technology behind induction cooking.

Bad Points: Hob cannot function as part of the working surface. Has to be located in isolation, away from kitchen activities that might spill or splatter onto it. No reference in literature about 'temperature balancing' between rings which means that two cannot be on full power at same time.

General comments: Most frustrating of appliances ever! Even the smallest of spills or splatter activates the 'safety' lock on the de dietrich and everything shuts down for two minutes while I press in vain on the lock icon to get it going again. Wiping the surface during cooking means making sure that it is polished dry as even the slightest dampness will cause the safety lock to come on. Not having the wok feature, it is difficult to stir fry as 'shaking ' the pan breaks the magnetic contact with the surface and causes the safety lock to come on.and I have to wait two minutes again before it can be de-activated. I went back to my supplier to see if there was a way to de-sensitise this function and basically was told that I had to learn not to be such a messy cook. I have persevered but two many meals have now been ruined because I cannot maintain the heat under pans.

Up til now this De Dietrich DTI304 hob has been brill (I have the larger 309X) cooking on it is great. unfortunately it has been in the repair shop for the past 3 days (out of warranty). Two plates went at the same time, could not sense that there was a pan on the plate. Still waiting for the bad news re cost of repair!

The De Dietrich DTI304 has fantastic controlability, easy to clean and looks fabulous!
i wish I'd bought one sooner. As good as gas in terms of instant heat, controlability etc but with no naked flame to worry about.

Using this De Dietrich DTI304 induction hob to cook with is a cooks dream come true, especially if you are changing from Gas. The controllability alone is better than gas and with minimal cleaning you can get on and enjoy what you have cooked.
