Purchased just over 2 years ago, within the first year the hob went off and the engineer took ages to get a part from the manufacturer. After just over 2 years and without further warranty hob has failed again. De Deitrich unsympathetic and wanted to charge £178 for repair and further year warranty. They would not move on this so I refuse to give them more money for a substandard product. I live alone and use this approx 3-4 times a week, no more than that. Add that up over 2 years... I love my De Dietrich induction hob. It is easy to use and such INSTANT heat- quicker than the kettle boiling and instantly stops heating preventing boiling over. I don't find a problem with the hob switching to off with spills or lifting the pan for example to flip a pancake like another reviewer mentioned. I know it's not good for use with a wok but I rarely use one. It is better than gas. There are only 2 things I would like to change. I would like to have more than one area on boost at a... Most frustrating of appliances ever! Even the smallest of spills or splatter activates the 'safety' lock on the de dietrich and everything shuts down for two minutes while I press in vain on the lock icon to get it going again. Wiping the surface during cooking means making sure that it is polished dry as even the slightest dampness will cause the safety lock to come on. Not having the wok feature, it is difficult to stir fry as 'shaking ' the pan breaks the magnetic contact with the... (read more)

Two plates went at the same time, could not sense that there was a pan on the plate. Still waiting for the bad news re cost of repair! (read more)

The De Dietrich DTI304 has fantastic controlability, easy to clean and looks fabulous! i wish I'd bought one sooner. As good as gas in terms of instant heat, controlability etc but with no naked flame to worry about. (read more)

Using this De Dietrich DTI304 induction hob to cook with is a cooks dream come true, especially if you are changing from Gas. The controllability alone is better than gas and with minimal cleaning you can get on and enjoy what you have cooked. (read more)

We have had exactly the same experience. After a year 2 of the rings stopped working. The hob was replaced and now, 2 years later, the same thing has happened. When I reported the fault to De Dietrich I said, 'There are 4 rings...' and the guy on the other end of the phone finished my sentence for me '... and 2 of them aren't working.' so it's obviously a really common fault. We're not going to pay £177 for this only to happen again. Induction hobs are great but De Dietrich induction hobs are rubbish. Don't buy.
