Light broken after a few weeks, never repaired, kettle broke and no good just over a year, no better than a cheap kettle.

bought a breville jk71 22 months ago from currys as with new kitchen the old phillips one we had for more than 10 years was looking a bit tatty especially after use by our builders. this product looks great and worked well - until the heater element blew last night - this product should last longer for the £49.99 we paid its maybe worth £10!

Found the Breville JK71 kettle very easy to use, fill and clean.

Breville JK71 would be OK if sufficiently durable and of adequate quality, but it isn't

    On our fourth replacement.
    3 faulty switches
    one broken lid button

For the money paid for the Breville JK71 Kettle (and the fact that it is part of Breville's Cafe Series flagship range!) i would have expected it to last longer. Very good kettle whilst it worked but stopped working after about 18 months. Can't get base off due to strange triangular headed screws but fairly sure the element has packed up.

If you are the sort of person who shops for kitchen appliances as disposables then buy this item.

If you expect things to last - Don't!

Just had my second Breville JK71 pack up on me as will not boil. Unable to unscrew base to have a look at element. That's now nearly £100 down the spout in 3 years. No more!

I have been told that there are no replacement parts available for my Breville JK71 and I must return the kettle, at my own expense, to be inspected. This kettle cost me £49.92 and for this amount I would expect it not to fail and to be able to repair it.

Not good enough, would not buy another! We had two but didn't bother getting the second one replaced, as they both lasted about 9 to 10 months and to me that is not long enough. I do not recommend this kettle, it might have nice looks but that's not what you get a kettle for really!

First Breville JK71 blew its heater element after three months. Replacement supplied by Comet under warranty lastyed 18 months before doing the same thing.Expensive kettle with a short life and no repair parts seem to be available. Do not buy!

Lack of durability , no replacement parts means that this item must be regarded as throw away disposal item which is not reflected in the price. I however, eventually obtained a free of charge replacement from Pulse who now own the brand.

Unfortunately when I bought this Breville JK71 kettle I didn't start using it straight away, when it did break down the year guarantee was out. I would not recommend this kettle to anybody. Breville I thought was a good make and for the price £49.99 I thought it would last.

I thought I was buying an expensive but well made item that would last. 18 months down the line the base has blown and I'm told that it can't be replaced. I won't be buying from Breville again.

The Breville JK71 looks good but a waste of £50. Don't buy this kettle, I advsie you to look elsewhere. Mine broke within a year and the warranty turned out to be very poor.

I have had two of these Breville JK7 in 6 months and they have both blown, ie will not boil water. This is clearly not unusual. Also Breville can't get spares. Do not buy this kettle. It is very expensive, but clearly useless. I would recommend that you look at other reviews on here and I'm sure you will not buy this kettle if you do.

I've had 2 of these Breville JK71 kettles and both lasted just over 3 months each. Just off out to buy an alternative. I know from reading 'Which' reviews that some of the most reliable kettles are also the cheapest so that's what I'm going to get!

I bought this Breville JK71from Comet and splashed out the most I've ever paid for a kettle because I thought it looked good and would last. My previous Morphy Richards kettle before that had died after less than 2 years. I was shocked when this one conked out after such a short time. How is it that Miele can give you a 10 year guarantee on a washing machine which is a far more complex piece of machinery, but you only get one year on a kettle? Won't be returning to Breville for a very lon ...

If you pay 3-4 times more than you have to for a kettle, you will want one that lasts for several years. So don't buy this one. Mine lasted a little over a year before the element broke - unreplaceable! Looked the part while it lasted though. My advice is look for a kettle where you can see the level of the water without having to look inside.

For their top brand "Cafe series" I would have expected a little more life. We especially bought a premium model hoping it would last longer - considering it was probably boiled 2-3 times per day over about a year then not good value.

Upon looking through other reviews - it appears that about a year is roughly how long this lasts. Steer clear - you are warned!!

Up until two weeks ago when kettle started to switch it self on by itself
    day or night .
    Or would not turn off.
As it was bought as a present by family. I can't find out where it came from
Went into a electrical store they told me to send back to maker of kettle.
Being an OAP the post was to much money for me to send by post.
What can i do as i am now boiling my water in saucepan?
    Please can you help me?
    Thank you
    Laurie
