Good Points: Erm........? It looks nice?

Bad Points: Where do I start?

General comments: I was given this phone as a gift earlier this year. Upon receipt I thought it looked really good, nice and slim. However, it is REALLY difficult to get used to - not at all easy. That said, once you have mastered the handbook, it is fairly OK to use. Within a couple of months, the screen started to go strange - lines across it and unable to read the text. I also found the battery life very poor. The screen problems got worse and worse but I found (bizarrely) that recharging the battery solved the problem.....or so I thought. About 2 months ago the screen went completely blank. The phone was less than a year old but I didn't have the receipt to take it back to the shop. In the hope that it would 'sort itself out' I periodically switched the phone on (the only way I could tell if it was on was to press the keypad and listened for the beep!) but soon disconnected the battery completely as the phone then started switching itself on and off at random. I tried changing the battery to no avail. I enquired about having it repaired - nearly 50 quid! I didn't have the CD to download the photos I had taken on the phone so borrowed another handset on the same network in the hope that I could retrieve my pictures. To no avail - they were stored on the phone and I had no way of retrieving them.
Since having these problems I have discovered that this is a fault of the U830 - LG have recognised that fact and redesigned the phone. Alas, too late for me.....but not for you!
    Steer clear of this phone!

I disagree with the person that said the LG U830 audio sending and receiving on this phone is very poor, it is actually good.

I am refusing to use the LG U830 which came with a 18 month contract, it has been returned to the repair centre twice, who have now informed me that this is an inherent fault with this model and there is nothing more they can do. 3 have offered to exchange it for the same model i have refused this. i am now using my old mobile a u860 with no problems.
