If you're happy to not be able to access your TV for most of the time, then the V+ box is for you, otherwise don't bother. Regular problems affecting whole areas, and box seems to develop unknown and seemingly irrepairable technical difficulties. When an engineer is needed you have to wait a week for them to be able to come. Just not worth the hassle it creates!- Read Guest's review (67 words)

just had virgin on the phone,
as i was at the end of my 12month contract i wondered what they could do for me, and plus the fact the only reson i got xl tv was for setana football and now that is gone. so phoned them and got the v+ box for £30 and my bill down to £40 thats for tv with v+ box, fast internet, and a phone with free weekend calls, and befor i was paying £47 for normal virgin box.
so all in all if your contract is up, give them a call and get an upgrade to v+ ...- Read JRock78's review (237 words)

V+ buggy interface with sometimes agonisingly slow boot up times and loading times, especially in TV on demand. Otherwise provides plenty of channels and is simple to use, the bugs just let it down big time.- Read Guest's review (69 words)

A remarkably poor piece of modern A/V equipment. The
V+ box is ridiculously over-sized, as perhaps 75% of the contents is fresh air. Basically this is a hard drive and a circuit board, plus a facia - no need for it to be this size at all. There is no shielding between the ventiation slots on the case and the board inside so dust will build up and kill it sooner or later - any liquid spill will kill it immediately. There is no sound insulation whatsoever, so it is useless for using in your bedr ...- Read TiVoIsBetter's review (283 words)

Had a bad experience with comtel as it was who changed to ntl. Stayed with sky for years, then had enough of paying extortionate prices and went to freeview. Virgin offered xl tv, xl phone and 2mb broadband and free setanta, all for £49. very good deal. free 24/7 phone calls and full setanta sports.
Am now looking toward the future for freesat hd, but will enjoy virgin for months to come yet.- Read Guest's review (86 words)

I have had V+ for three weeks now and have had no problems whatsoever. Picture and sound okay and the option of recording two programs whilst watching a third is excellent. The only downside is the lack of HD channels. I paid a one off fee of £75 with no extra monthly cost.- Read Ian1960's review (65 words)

Worst customer service experience of my life. I've been calling for 3 weeks and everyone tells me something different and no one has fixed my problem. I'd rather have just gotten sky and not dealt with virgin at all.- Read Guest's review (38 words)

I have had this unit for one year now and overall i have found it very good the extra £10.00 per month is excessive just for the + service, and there is only one HD channel which is BBC HD, As mentioned above the picture quality is amazing VM have done an amazing job of upscaling SD content on all channels, i would recommend this unit to anybody, but i have just moved onto SKY HD myself to take full advantage of my HD TV, as VM do not have any plans to get any more HD content for some tim ...- Read jamesclarkemoto's review (224 words)

Having read some negative reviews about V+, I was a little wary, but decided to take the plunge. I was on the 3 for £30 deal, and was told that for an extra £5/month, I could keep the old V box, and qualify for the V+ installation, which was 'apparently' slashed from £150 to £75.
The engineer arrived in good time, sorted out the V+, then did an amazingly neat job of routing the additional cable to the old V box in the bedroom.
Operation of the V+ is fairly straight fo ...- Read Fantagirl's review (203 words)

Had the unit fitted a couple of weeks ago, and haven't experienced any problems whatsoever. Being able to record two programs at the same time saves on arguments with other family members, (which was somewhat eveliated by transferring the old Virgin box to the bedroom).
Having used a Sky + box, I prefer the epg, operation and basic feel of V+, and would recommend it highly.- Read Grantly's review (78 words)

Excellent box. Because we've been VM customers for years and take broadband/tv/telephone, there's no subscription charge and installation was a nominal £25.- Read Guest's review (42 words)

Cant fault V+ at all. Very easy to use, excellent EPG's and menus, and good memory (80 hrs) and find the fuction of recording 2 programs together and watching a 3rd a good feature. Virgin installed on time with no probs and even moved my old box upstairs (£5 extra PM though). I'm sure that if you say your off to Sky they will reduce the install fee like they did with me......In all, an excellent service.- Read Guest's review (111 words)

System installed 12 January 2008. First box would not support On Demand and kept on rebooting every 50 - 60 minutes, messing up recordings and pleasure of watching. After 2 days it sorted it's self out. Second box fitted a week later, same problems, still not On Demand and again rebooted every 60 minutes, again after 3 days sorted it's self out. I don't know but it sorted it's self out when we placed it on standby.- Read simon hosken's review (150 words)

I was concerned about having V+ installed after reading other negative comments. After having it for a few hours I can report that it is great!
No Installation problems, in and out in 20 minutes. They even called to ask if they could come two hours early to do it! Functionality is very good and easy to use. Virgin also supplied all of the extra cables I will need for when my new Tv arrives.
I was also concerned about my broadband as I have read that a new modem would have to be installed. In f ...- Read Guest's review (150 words)
