Good Points: Great stock and thumb hole really balances and feels great off hand/bench
Workmanship is top notch. Bolt is smooth and easy cock.
Accuracy is hole in hole doesn't get any better than that.
Regulated shots vary only a few FPS shot to shot all the way through the fill.
nice safety lever easy to use and in sight whenever you use the rifle.
Trigger is very smooth and light.

Bad Points: Gun is heavier than advertised and pretty large not something for a 10 mile hike or small framed person. Real weight with burr is 4.5x14AO scope and steel Beeman high rings is 9.5lbs and 40" long

General comments: This is my third air rifle and I would say my best so far overall. I was a little surprised when I opened the package as the Merlin was bigger than it appears in pictures I had seen. I picked it up and noticed it had weight to the rifle and then shouldered it and boy does it balance perfect off hand. The stock not only looks cool it also fits and handles like a dream. The rifle is built like a tank it seems every part is overkill which is why I think the weight is higher on the Merlin. Lots of steel and metal and wood everywhere. Everything is ultra smooth from the trigger pull to working the bolt. The noise level isn't bad not as quiet as my 410 carbine 22cal FAC but not much over that. Accuracy is great with the regulated shots FPS is so close shot to shot you just drill the same hole at 40 yards first shot to 30th+ shot. The Merlin is listed as a 23ftlb rifle mine is producing 25lbs(733fps) with 21gr pellets and 23Ft(860fps) with 14.3 pellets. It gets about 50 good shots per fill not to bad for the air tube size. Overall the Merlin is a great rifle if you don't mind the overall Size, Weight this gun will please you in every way.
