Good Points: Easy setup, a lot of software on installation CDs/DVD, firewall, CUPS printer spooler
Bad Points: GUI works a bit slow (especially Gnome), bad support for serial mouse, crushes trying to install some packages
General comments: Fedora Core 5 is very nice free Linux. It is equipped well with good additional software.
I recommend to use KDE desktop, which works faster and more functional than Gnome. Here you can install printer and to set a lot of things (still not so functional as Windows).
KDE and Gome are pretty and have a lot of costumization in style. For me GUI looks more elegant than Windows XP, also it has few desktops (four by default) while Windows has only one.
There is a lot of free software in the Internet for this operating system, starting with drivers and ending with development software.
This operating system can be used for home computer and for servers, also it has nice firewall that is installed by default - I recommend to set it on.
In summary, it is very nice operating system with good network support, and a bit not flexible setup program that crashes when trying to install some packages, then you need to start all process again. Also it does not support by default serial mouses, some older computers may have problems in this case.
