Good Points: Top quality, good sights, accurate, good size for a .22

Bad Points: Only available as used guns, and rarely seen because owners don't want to sell them.

General comments: Smith & Wesson has made dozens of .22 models since 1859. The J-frame Model 34 "kit gun" is one of the most popular. This six shot revolver comes with a 2" or 4" barrel.

The Model 34 is a very popular small-caliber revolver in North America. It is not uncommon for hikers and campers to bring this 20 oz. revolver with them on trips off the beaten path. The Mod. 34 has a steel frame and adjustable sights. With the 4" barrel the gun is quite capable of "minute of squirrel" accuracy.

I recommend the Model 34 to anyone looking for a top quality small frame .22 revolver. The recoil is mild and replacement stocks make the gun comfortable enough for anyone to shoot. These revolvers are over-engineered and will stand up to decades of use.

The Model 34 is a fine little revolver. It is much smoother than its stainless steel cousin the S&W Model 63, and is a better gun than the copies made in South America and Spain.
