Speakers can be feed as much power as you got! Speakers can be feed as much power as you got! If you start to overdrive them, you'll hear it long before you damage them. Don't use a Bose controller, it just takes the bottom end out. Best sound if stacked, so you really need to have 2 pair, (4) 802s for ear melting sound. I have used the Bose 802's for a while now and wow, i startde of with 2 and i love then so i got 6 and got the 302 subs, so now i have 12 of them, The only thing is with then is that6 they are a bit big and loud for small venues, so i went out and bought 6 mackie sem450v2 and they sound mint. iuse berhinger desks and denon cd units. In the ongoing battle of trying to find the right rig that cover's lots of ground from indoors to outdoors, and of course trying to do a great job on a budget. The Bose 802 speaker make for a fine scalable speaker unit on which one can build a cost effective, high performance system that doesn't require a crane or huge truck and a crew to setup.

I have a problem. The form speaker surrounds/dust seals have disintegrated in my Bose 802s. I am trying to find a solution. Anybody any ideas? I don't want to put flowers in the cabinets!!!

Used in the right context Bose 802's work very well and provide excellent vocal reproduction. Unlikely to ever blow your socks off, they generate moderate SPL's more suited to corporate events, small bars etc. They are certainly not the answer to everyones requirements and there are similarly specified boxes out there for much less money.
