Good Points: upload your legacy minidiscs to pc via usb. faster speeds, lovely oled screen, hi md 1gb discs hold an awesome 45 hours max, low bit rate. higher bitrates up to cd quality uncompressed hold less, but on hi sp 256 you can fit around 10 hours on one disc, great for your favourite artist albums. recordings can be made at gigs uncompressed. can use for storing all sorts of files like a hdd.

Bad Points: screen doesnt display album art or title information, the remote has to be used for most of the functionalities. drag and drop for mp3s would have been good, in fact free the minidisc from sonicstage altogether and have it usable like most mp3 players and you would have had the ultimate minidisc machine, sony should create one more final megaminidisc liberated model. mind you, using sonicstage isnt as bad nowadays like it used to be.

General comments: excellent hi hd minidisc recorder. the Sony MZ-RH1 is cool looking, more versatile than any other md portable. if you can look outside the isheep box, what you have here is a beautifully made, versatile, solidly made, durable portable with oodles of class and exceptional sound quality that surpasses any mp3 player.

Looks are sleek. Especially connected to travel speakers (SRS-T55) as a room sound system. This unit can fill a room with sound easily and clearly. The batterylife is a little short but recording with the unit plugged in removes the hassle. For recording anything this unit is supreme. I use it to record the birds in my backyard and the sounds generated have me looking over my shoulder. The recording quality is brilliant. Sony have brought out some duds in the past, they have not with this unit. ...

Sony MZ-RH1 Review - Ok as for someone who has been recording in the field for 3 decades now this is one of the smallest recorders with a reasonable sound quality, endless memory "thanks to the MD discs"and LPCM encoding, easy to transfer the files to the computer, using the supplied Sonicstage software, and it works with Vista on my Viao..it makes for a great starter kit for separate sound recording for video or even a podcast unit, asside from the typical uses as a portable mp3 player holding lo ...
