Good Points: Clean sound. Everything works fine including DAB radio

Bad Points: User interface a bit fiddly.

General comments: I bought the Yamaha M170 system to replace a home-built radio/record player hi-fi from 1969 which used Goodman's Maxim speakers (the original bookshelf hi-fi speaker!).

Compared with my old system the Yamaha seems to have very little bass. Organ music which used to produce real low bass from the Maxims is now underwhelming. Is this because the Yamaha is intended to be used with a sub-woofer or is it because the Maxims are 15ohm not 6-8ohm? (should only affect delivered power)

The Yamaha M170 has a great finish with a brilliant sound and the speakers look hot.
Unfortunately there's no expandability and the DAB radio doesn't pick anything up except satanistic noise.
